The sad fact is the "shock" of the singing detract from (1) the amazing musicianship and (2) the exceptional lyrics (which the vocals reflect) concerning the duality of nature, the torment of meeting expectations and the pressure of people (the handsome butchers) to meet social expectations and norms even as it tears away beauty and identity. The duality of the vocals reflect the conflict between hope, contentment and exploration on the one hand and frustration, rage and demands to conform on the other. Truly an exceptional song.
@aryansigrid3 жыл бұрын
I agree, the lyrics are somewhat lost because of the 'shock-factor' moments, it shifts peoples focus off all the parts of the song & onto Tati's voice exclusively, amazing as she is. I also agree, the lyrics are exceptionally fantastic too!

@Dark__Thoughts3 жыл бұрын
I disagree somewhat, because this is only true for those people who are only there for the shock value of the reaction. It's the people who would otherwise not even listen to this song in the first place. Everyone else will eventually come around and pay attention to all the details of this song, lyrically and instrumentally. And in the end, me and most of us even would probably not have heard of Jinjer if it weren't for this going viral on reaction channels, giving them a lot of exposure and reach. For example, I didn't even watch reaction videos before, I don't actually like them, but they're still the reason why people talked about Jinjer, and eventually somehow reached my lonely unsocial ass. And hey, I love this song nowadays a lot more than I did early on, and I still feel I discover more things within it or within the music video (I still love how expressive Tatiana is, and not just on stage).

@@Dark__Thoughts I agree, my comment was more directed at those reactors, and more importantly the reactor watchers, that likely only view the song a single time or perhaps once or twice. You`re perfectly right: In an interview Tati said that she prefers screaming to singing because it doesn`t stress her that much at the end of a gig. And (unfortunately) in concerts performing "Pisces" she doesn`t dare switch into singing in the last heavy part, because she might mess up the whole thing. It`s a pity, but anyway, I saw her live and, yeah, it`s that great that you don`t give a damn s*** wether she does it in the end or not, it`s either way impressive! 😀🤘 But she does switch between words without effort.
@j.f.fisher53183 жыл бұрын
It seems like it is specifically growls to belting that is tricky. She does it in other songs like Judgement & Punishment one-take but she has about an extra second to shift gears.

@@boxychubbo6922 Call iat scream, call it growl, whatever you want, I don`t care. Of course you can`t get the same volume then with a trained voice and hers is trained. Nevertheless, compared to other "growlers" hers is extremely loud. And I`ve alsoi heard her live in concert.

@@boxychubbo6922 OK, first of all, yes, there are snippets of her growling without any post production available on Internet. Only some moments when she is recording and another mic records her without any effects. Then there are numerous live versions where you can hear the echo of her growls from far away loudspeakers. Unless there is some dude waiting for her at every time she `s about to growl to turn up the volume at that precise moment, it must be herself who does it. If you don`t believe it, I don`t care.

What's also impressive is how tight the band is (This was live but in a "studio") but when you watch the band play live at a venue, it's impressive how they also keep the timing super super tight. She's able to switch back and forth between clean and growl because she uses two different and separate "engines" for those two styles. For the growling parts, she uses what we call false vocal folds. Two muscles that are high above the regular vocal cords, almost at the base of the tongue. If you want to know what I mean, try an angry sigh and feel where the distortion comes from. Once you have it, you can try barking while using the same distortion. Of course there's still a long way from there to the point where you can actually growl like she does, but that should give you the basic idea. her normal vocal cords are barely involved in the growling part.

Brad, try something from *The Warning* , 3 sisters from Mexico who first hit KZbin with a cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman (22+ Million views) when they were 14, 12, and 9. But that was 2014. Now, they are about to release their 3rd album, Spector is putting out a Signature Series bass in the name of the now-16 year old bassist, and Rick Toone personally brought a custom Spearfish to the lead guitarist. Dull Knives from their (De)Tour show is great, or anything from the Lunario or Foro Didi shows or from one of their sold-out Whisky a Go Go shows.
