Why can’t you just say hatha bayti for this is my house? How do you know when to use the taba

taba9 and taa3 do carry the idea of ownership, but they always refer back to something/someone as to say, "this thing of his" or "this thing that belongs to him." So, the best way to think of it is to use it in situations wherein you would use one of the two English translations above. p.s. there is more to this, but the main idea is what we give you here.

i have been watching your classes, must say i´m enjoying them very much, i have a question,could you clarify it? is it correct to say, haida baete or hada baitak tks
@CGEJordan

+Mario Filho I'm not sure I understand the question fully, but let me try to answer it and you can tell me if you wanted something different. In Jordan and Palestine, we would say haada baitee (This is my house.) and hada baitak (This is your house.) Keep in mind that hada can only only refer to things in very close proximity to you, not things that are far away.

il-3afu. bilugha il-3aamiyeh wa bi shakil 3aam, "2ili" bti3ni: [this] is mine/this belongs to me wa "taba3i" bti3ni: [s/thing] that belongs to me or [s/one] who does [some type of work] p.s. In some specific phraseology (usually not referring to physical things), "2ili" can mean "I have", but "3indi" would be used most of the time.

I am confused here. So what is difference between "تبعه" and "اله"? And is there any difference in meaning between these sentences: - هذا بيته - هذا بيت اله - هذا بيت تبعه

Easier way to think of this is belonging to me, you, her, us, etc... That car belongs to me. It functions like an adverb in English. Arabic does not have possessive pronouns such as mine.

There is no exact meaning for this is English. You say "belonging to me" but the first thing the man said was that it means "belongs to." So it sounds like you are splitting hairs here. "This is mine" and "this thing of mine" are not exactly the same thing. We don't say "belonging to me" in English so while your definition may be more accurate in some ways, it is not good to teach that as the meaning because then the student will think that this way of speaking is not used or is weird. People are not going to say things that they do not understand or find to be weird. It is always better to tell people the closest meaning that is actually used and not some weird way of saying something in English.
