as a sidenote to this, don't get exotic animals! dogs and cats overflow rescues and need you, let the wild animals be wild and save an animals life. it sucks to see so many videos of stuff like monkeys, parrots, turtles, chinchillas etc. under human care on social media (in cases where they serve as someone's pets, not as a rescue or part of an educational/repopulation program). just a good thing to think about that is easy to forget when you see cute animal videos on things like tiktok. caring for an animal that there's very little guidance for is not going to be an easy task, nor is it ethical to deprive animals that CAN live in the wild of their freedom. (AND NO OUTSIDE CATS! its bad for them and its bad for you. take them for walks! its simple!)

Just to help you feel better about the Petsmart cat! All the cats at Petsmarts are adoptable rescue cats that go into foster homes and only spend a week or two in the stores to be "shown" to help them get adopted! Petsmart doesn't own them. They're handled and dealt with by outside rescues! :) and volunteers go in every day multiple times a day to let them out of their cages to play and clean up any messes they make

Another commenter confirmed that it's real and there is a gofundme or similar thing set up for her. They've raised 70k so far. To be fair, the "acting" when she said she's okay or having an okay day was a little too real of a response to a stranger about not wanting to talk about a tragedy, but it seeping through anyway because it hurts so much. Also, fireworks should be illegal for everyday people because there are too many stories like this, or people getting hurt. Should be for professionals and also not go off at random times in the year. It also was likely just an accident, but in a way, that makes it worse, because it never should have happened. A lot of home fires start from not properly put out cigarettes and fireworks if it's not from something internal. I hope she and her family are doing a lot better.

I just wanted to say that at Petsmart they don’t sell cats. It is actually a rescue. The rescue is inside the pet store. The only actual pet that Petsmart sells are small rodents, guinea pigs and smaller. Wide variety of aquarium fish. Some small birds and small reptiles as well. But absolutely no dogs or cats. They also run a clinic so that people can get their pets vaccinated sometimes for free or very discounted. Petsmart is actually pretty cool. There are some locations that have been in the news. Animals have either died or gotten hurt in the doggy daycare or grooming facility. But few and far between.

Speaking as someone who worked in a pet shop that had the same set up, the level of horror I witnessed made me never buy from a store that sold live animals again. They are one step closer to ethical but selling small animals is still very wrong.

@@goober479 I worked in a mom & pop pet shop in a rural Kentucky town. Nothing will beat that terror. But petsmarts are pretty nice when staffed by actual pet loving people. There are bad eggs everywhere. But petsmart is a nationwide chain. Bigger than petco, the next largest one. So in case you’ve never been in one, only what you think sounds like one, it isn’t fair to try and make them equivalent.

I'm disabled and my last cat passed this year so I've decided when my disability gets approved I'm getting a robot litter box and going to the pound to adopt the old cat that nobody wants and I'll just keep doing that for the rest of my life. We can be cave-dwelling, bed buddies together. I'm very excited about it.

I’m right with you on the disabilities which is one of the big reasons my husband and I didn’t adopt again. I’m already a fall hazard and adding a small animal would be bad for both me and them

You should be fine with the robot as long as it’s one that rotates and has an always open front. It’s the ones that close up before roasting that have had some horrible accidents. But truthfully those litter boxes were from sketchy sites anyways so just make sure it’s a good quality and well reviewed one before buying. We have one and it’s amazing! It’s expensive but works perfectly. It’s an oval shape that rotates with an always open front. So even if a cat walks inside of it while rotating nothing happens. It will stop due to sensors but even if it didn’t stop nothing bad would happen. It moves slowly and has no gaps that a cat can fit its paw into. Just be sure of the quality of the one you are buying and it will be fine.

I don't know much about growing bismuth, but the general idea is that you can melt a brick of bismuth to get yourself some bismuth soup. The stuff on top is slag which is i guess it's trash (it reminds me of gravy or smt tbh) that as you can see in the video you remove to make it more pure/prettier but i think you should just be able to reuse it if you have a lot since it is still bismuth. Anyhow, you can slowly cool your soup down again and the bismuth will start forming into those amazing shapes. I think that the pebble is used in these videos to make it so that the bismuth gets one sort of connection point instead of a more random shape, since the pebble is (presumably) cold. And once you get the bismuth out of the pan it'll oxidise and get all those beautiful colours! I've never actually grown bismuth sadly but i've seen many videos becuase just look at that!

"It feels like my head is being stretched" is a phenomenally accurate description of how ADHD makes you feel, at least before you find the right medication or treatment to help. Everyone's brain is unique and wonderful, but I grew up with ADHD and Asperger's syndrome, went through seven years from age 7 to 14 going from medication to medication, going through therapy to improve my empathy and my temper and slight behavioral problems. I also went through special education for my entire time in grade school up to my graduation from High School, and believe me when I say, finding the right people with the patience and understanding, that made me feel welcome, was the best thing EVER. I'm now 23 and counting, in and out of College and have so many dear friends that I treasure, but I've never been capable of putting into WORDS, let alone visualizing how I felt before I found the system that worked for me.

For me a lot of the time, it’s like a machine that’s going much faster than the manufacturer recommends. And that sparks my body to *move* even though my body can’t and shouldn’t move like the way it wants anymore due to neurological problems. I’m female and 42 with combined ADHD and in spite of testing both in my early teens and twenties (of course I paid attention, it was interesting!) I wasn’t formally diagnosed until my late twenties. At that point, insurance didn’t really feel the need for a full grown adult to have medication. Later on, I started taking a medication for one of my neuro problems that incidentally helped the ADHD. The downside is that it made me so tired that getting up to do anything was an overwhelming task. But I was still hyper. And a fall risk. So I traded off the improved ability to focus for a bit more energy to get things done and relied more on my phone to track appointments and set notifications for them. These days I’m not just fighting my ADHD, I’m fighting against brain fog, fatigue, my own body and a host of other things to just do *something* useful with the day. Sometimes it’s helping and mentoring people in the mmo I play, sometimes it’s learning something potentially useful, and the hardest one of all, sometimes it’s just resting because I’m low on energy and my body needs to heal

28:30 - That cat bouncing off the wall is doing it intentionally so as the food can be arrived at faster. Bouncing off the wall for the redirect allows for the corner to be taken at a much higher speed without sliding out. I don't think it's for style-points or for fun at all lol, just ultimate efficiency of movement to get to that food half a second earlier

What makes me love these kinds of videos is I just absolutely love seeing people happy, but I feel the bigger reason is I used to watch AFV almost religiously with my grandma and sometimes with my family. I am such a family man and just love spending time with family and friends, Edit: I forgot to mention that the gift guy does stuff like that almost every day and that it is true. It can be weird when stuff like that is filmed, but he just wants to help the person out.
