Well....i read the huge diatribe in the comments. Someone likes the sound of their own voice...🤣🤣 Balderdash🤣🤣🤣. I am 65...i started working with horses at 16 i obtained my Pony Club B, my BHSAI and then my BHSI. I am no longer registered. Stopped teaching many many years ago. I worked for HRH Prince Phillip for 2 seasons a lifetime ago....ive worked for 2 Event Riders, Showjumpers and as a Hunt Groom. I have experience with Polo Ponies, Show Hunters, Showjumpers, Event Horses, and worked, again a lifetime ago under Major Ferguson at Smiths Lawn. Ivy is a terrific rider with a great seat. Fact. Thats all I have to say. 😃😉😉

I came here after watching a short compilation of Ivy falling off ponies left and right, both on the flat and before/after jumps. As a rider of over 35 years of riding experience (receiving professional riding instruction along the way) and experience jumping competitively up to 1.20 m, as well as several decades of personally teaching kids correct riding and beginner/intermediate jumping, I made several comments on the falls compilation clip. My comments included my opinion that this little girl did not appear to have a secure enough seat or good enough balance to be jumping at all. I suggested that her instructors have her work on basic flat work, including riding without stirrups to strengthen her leg muscles and work on her balance, riding in two point (until she’s stable enough to maintain her balance in two point at the trot and canter while steering), practicing steering and finding correct distances over a course of poles on the ground, and maybe then “jumping” through a grid of raises cavaletti to help her learn to do a correct release and to increase her stability in the saddle mid-air (among other helpful foundation-building exercises). I watched this video in hopes that the fall compilation was in the past and that hopefully someone had worked with her on the foundations of riding enough that she wouldn’t tumble off her pony at the slightest unexpected movement. I was sorely disappointed to see her trotting and cantering with her legs and arms flapping all over the place, looking totally unbalanced, hanging on to the pony’s mouth over jumps for balance, and falling off twice in a lesson bc she still has NO balance and a very weak seat. First she falls off when the pony goes slightly to the left of the jump, then she takes a flyer of a distance to a jump (looks like she’s totally relying on the pony to find a distance) and gets left behind, so she loses her balance and tumbles off on the straightaway. Instead of having Ivy work on exercises to improve the stability of her seat and her balance in the saddle (not to mention working on steering and maintaining a proper two point/ doing a crest release over a jump…as opposed to what she IS doing, which is standing up over the jump and hanging on the pony’s mouth for balance), these “instructors” keep having her jump around a course, and even raise some of the obstacles! I am absolutely appalled!! This is NO hate on Ivy; she’s clearly trying her best, and I admire her perseverance, but it’s clear she hasn’t been taught (or practiced) the most basic riding fundamentals. Things that are absolutely essential for a rider to be able to do before the rider is EVER allowed to jump. Ivy obviously doesn’t know any better, and is just trying to do what these “instructors” are telling her to do, which is -quite frankly- dangerous as hell! Ivy is SO lucky that she hasn’t been badly injured in any of her many falls! I’m commenting here bc I can’t believe that these adults who are supposed to be in charge of this child’s welfare (and I assume are meant to be some kind of riding professionals) are pushing a kid who can barely balance and stay on her pony on the flat to canter over a course of decent sized jumps! This is an absolute disaster waiting to happen. I pray for Ivy’s sake that she gets some proper instruction on safe riding, and doesn’t have any seriously damaging falls while the current “instructors” are having her yeehaw around a course that she is not capable of completing safely. While I do admire Ivy’s courage and perseverance, I have serious concerns about her future safety. I will not be watching any more of these videos bc I am so infuriated by these “instructors”, and can only pray Ivy stays safe.

You have like no idea how famous “Ivy” is as for balance she jumps her 17hh stallion no handed at 6years it’s never been seen before & that’s why it has collectively over 100 million views across social network. She has also qualified 4 ponies for the British nationals the youngest rider in there history to do so. Your watching VERY VERY OLD videos of her just starting! Do your research before making essays on stuff you have no idea who your taking about

​@@jumpingwithivy Wow What a sermon, total rubbish. Mentioning 2 point makes me think she's from across the pond. They're taught to approach fences in light seat with no rein contact. Ride like that on a stopper they'll get dropped like a stone.! They overfold and release up the horses ears so not sure where the steering is on landing! Beggars belief how people become George Morris from their armchair! Ivy's jumps 1.20 in jer sleep and on Ace too. Best balance I've seen on a little girl for over 50 years. Im probably her oldest fan at 64!

@Margaux. I am actually infuriated and your nerve. This little girl is one of the most talented, focused natural kids I have seen.. I presume you have trained in the US? We ride totally different here in the UK. She regularly rides bareback and has a natural eye to a fence. Even our top top riders are amazed by her talent. Her parents are professionals. She's well looked after. We nurture talent in this country. Negativity breeds nerves.... She needs NO negativity.

I too agree about Ivy...i have never known a little one with such natural balance. I was laughing to myself...i used to hunt with the Pendle Farmers...huge stone walls, enormous drops.....if you jumped that in the US showjumping style with your hands virtually wrapped round the ears......well...the word dead comes to mind....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣any hesitation...any stop ....😱☠️☠️
