For those that have an issue with recording from the back and to those that don't normally record bands, sometimes it really is a toss up when trying to figure out which way the bands are performing. Sometimes band directors don't even know until right before its time for them to line up and especially when videographers aren't given field access, that person has to make the best guess possible. At most BOTBs just like at NBOTBs, the bands alternate sides, so it was impossible to record every band from the front with a saved seat (with a good viewing position) on each side. I mentioned something similar in the JSU/ULM halftime video also.

@@roberthull9420I think he’s implying that the muted sound is really good. It removes any impurities from an already remarkable band. I’ve heard both versions and the rear version sounds smooth which compliments the song. But to each their own.
