Shoyan, you are the absolute best husband. I've lived in a house with a cedar closet that was decades old. It still carried that wonderful cedar smell. Your pantry is going to be a delightful storage space.

Great to see part 2 and the completion of your pantry. Watching you work is mesmerizing, Shoyan. I completely relax and savour every bit of your workmanship. I hope you and your family are well. Change of topic: Autumn is the time for playoff baseball here in North America. Shohei Ohtani's, Los Angeles Dodgers are in the playoffs. Ohtani's play this season was record setting in so many ways. His ability to consistently perform and establish new records, seeming effortlessly, astonishes all athletes regardless of sport. Will you or any of your family be watching Ohtani in the playoffs? All the best from beautiful Vancouver, Canada!

I build a lot with wood that I have cut the tree down, milled the wood, and dried in my own kiln. I also have issues with some woods splitting easily. Do you have many issues with wood splitting or cracking while installing? If the board cracks or begins to split what do you do to fix it or do you replace the whole board?

Haha, your wife is going to get revenge some day. PS I have to tell you that I think what you are calling a "tension rod" should be called a "compression rod". The wood is being compressed. But, as always, a great video from a consumate and talented professional carpenter/artisan. Kudos!

Screws are not good for shear loads. Nails are much stronger. Leaving the support board under the shelf would add much much greater strength.
