He could’ve moved on with his life but the moment he discovered that his rival was still alive he dedicated every moment of every single day in killing him, this Shredder was a different kind of petty. Some say he’s an depiction of transforming into an oni, which might actually be fitting for him.

Here's a headcannon about the symbolism behind shredders and the foot clans mutations: I personally think that the 2012 version of the super shredder and his pupils are inspired by oni (a demonic race in Japanese mythology), oni are born from malice and hatred. As you know, shredder has both, I like to believe that his malice was spreading, and then that malice would corrupt the foot clan and turn them into oni (mutants), of course shredder wasn't safe either and then he turned as well

Turning shredder into a mutant felt inevitable consi how mutation happy this show was. Personally I think since it was the end of the story and shredder was completely consumed by vengeance and obsessive hatred, it was fitting to turn him into the horrific monster he always was inside. I agree that shredder was better as human but I wouldn't call it jumping the shark because it felt natural and because super shredder was already a thing from the other turtles media. And yeah, most of season 5 felt pretty off the rails but considering the main story was already done, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Sorry for talking so much, I just wanted to get my opinion out there

@@Dres2000vengeance is mine and tale of the yokai confirms that he wanted revenge for being lied to about his heritage and being raised by the enemy (which unironically serves as a parallel to Karai’s story in this show). What happened between him and Splinter over Tang Shen was the tip of the iceberg to fully set him off.

he does change as a character, he goes from being obsessed with killing splinter but still having his human side show to karai, to Slowly becoming more dangerous and obsessed losing his attachment to karai and at the end after killing splinter he even realizes himself that he’s a demon who doesn’t Belong anymore. Obviously not the best character arc in the world but compared to the other on screen shredders this shredder is clearly the best character wise.

I just watched TMNT(2007 film) and I’m convinced Kevin Michael Richardson was chosen for Shredder in this series because he sounded so menacing in the film. He played one of the stone generals, and honestly was a bit scary for me

The 2012 shredder was more of a nightmare for the turtles especially in his super shredder form. I’ll take the gothic fortress over the technodrome and 2003 shredder’s business building at any day. Also I’ll take his super shredder form over 1980’s shredder’s disguises and 2003 shredder’s exo armor at any day. And despite liking 1980’s bebop and rocksteady and 2003 hun the best henchmen in my opinion are Fishface Dogpound and Tigerclaw. Even though Fred Wolf and Peter Laird may want to slap me in the face for saying this: 2012 shredder will always be the best shredder for when it comes to cartoon versions of the shredder

I understand why people prefer the 2003 version over this one, but I prefer Shredder & the Utrom as separate entities because I associate Shredder as a badass Human martial artist instead of a human disguise for an other worldly creature. This is why this version of The Shredder (or Oroku Saki) is just plain badass. He reminds me of Ozai from the last airbender. Both are intimidating human villains. And I like that idea.
