Great reaction! This was one heck of a performance. It was Momoko who descended from the ceiling. “Legend MM” was her 21st birthday show in Mar 2024. This was the encore highlight, and a Babymetal tradition for Su to hand off the mic during Headbanger for the other 2 girl’s birthday shows. That is also why the camera was focused on the ladies almost entirely for this song. I bought the BluRay for this show, and I can tell you that without a doubt, the Kami Band got a massive amount of camera time during this show, including 2 band solos per night. Thanks again from Japan 有難う 💛。 Don't worry. Kami Band (Chris, CJ, Clint and Anthony) did their instrument solos in two songs (Kagerou & Metali) that night. Each player was highlighted and all audience praised them. Juxtaposition of brutal growl and overly cutesy (intentionally anime-like) voice by Momometal. New ammunition of BABYMETAL. Momoko cannon loaded with sheer dark explosives and a warhead made of shiny and bubbly metal. I witnessed this performance and got crushed into pieces, smilingly of course, at the venue and was also honored to have a chance to celebrate Momoko's last day of her 20 years of age. ps. Max. capacity of this venue, Yokohama Arena, is 17,000 but could be smaller in BABYMETAL show due to its theatrical setting and space for multiple video cameras. So the ticket lottery competition is severe. I could manage to get a ticket in the second lottery - phew!

Good one, thanks. That was the Yohohama Arena. It has a nominal capacity for 17,000 people. I don't remember if there was a bar. But I know that nobody was drinking because if you blink for a second you are missing something. About the Kami Band shots situation on the videos, you need to know that BABYMETAL are the three ladies. The Kami Band only play live and they are not part of the studio recording or the composing of the songs. So, the main focus are the three of them. Also, in these kind of stage setups, when they perform on the satellite stage it's difficult to see the band. It's a little better when they perform on the main stage, specially here at Legend-MM that there were no elevated platforms in the middle. The band had four solo intros during the two concerts: for "Kagerou", "Metali" (x2) and "YAVA!" and they are well shown in the video. Also you need to understand that this was the first encore and a very special moment for Momometal (as others already mentioned) so, the focus need to be where it is. With that said, I'd also like to see more the band in certain moments as you mentioned. Also, despite the three ladies are the center of attention, all the fans know that the Kami Band is very important for their success (think of them as a team) and I personally like to give kudos to them and mention them as much I can. This lineup has: Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio (guitars), Clint Tustin (bass) and Anthony Barone (drums). 🤘🦊

⚡ 🍑 💕 / 🤘 That was Anthony Barone on the drums. : ) We also had Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars and Clint Tustin on bass. They were great on both nights of LEGEND MM. The Kami Band is a live touring band. The only member to have been involved with the songwriting is Leda Cygnus (Shinji Yuuto). He did the arrangement for 'No Rain, No Rainbow', one of Su's solo songs. He's also the only member known to have participated in the studio recordings. He contributed both guitar and bass on 'Arkadia'. He was also in the studio for Metal Resistance songs like 'Amore'. Instead of recording an entire album in an extended session, BABYMETAL's producer Koba brings in musicians on a song by song basis.

This is part of Momo-Metal's 20th birthday (edit--or is it 21st?), she takes lead on Headbanger for this performance. They frequently do something unique for the singers for significant birthdays; the most insane of which (imo) is "Babymetal Death - Legend 1997" for Su-Metal's birthday. as an aside, I think the pause/rewind/commentary is the way to go with Babymetal, as Amuse (the IP owner) is quite touchy from all I have heard, and that usually works.

It was the day before Momometal's 21st birthday. That was her last night as a 20 year old. They used the same lyric change from 15 to 20 they did for LEGEND S and LEGEND M that celebrated Su and Moa's 20th birthdays: Hatachi no yoru o wasure wa shi-nai. Great reaction. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is significant in Japan as compulsory education also ends, so the girl is realising life will never be the same. She is having to grow up, she will no longer be considered just a child and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. In this instance the age is changed to 20 as that is when you are officially an adult in Japan. So this one was a very special performance in March this year at the Legend MM concerts celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday we got her version on the day before her 21st (she was not an official member the year before so she did it to mark the last day when she was still 20). They weren't going to be showing the Kami Band this time (try the live at Legend 1997 for that - HEAD123456 has a safe one for you to use), the focus was all on Momometal as it was her special birthday performance.🎂🥳 There are other versions of 'Headbanger' from special occasions as well. The Legend D concert in December 2012 for Su-metal's own 15th birthday and the Legend 1997 concert for her 16th both started with a (very obviously and deliberately lip-synced) dance remix version ('Headbanger - Night of 15 Re-Mix'). At concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' half way through when, just like in this one, Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Only fancam videos exist for those performances. The same thing happened in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moametal's 20th birthday. Moa once again took over lead vocals after Su handed her the mic and stand - and the lyrics were changed to "...this special night of my 20th...".

Don't worry about using an overlay on everything if you are not sure. We want to see a reaction more than anything; many have seen the performance many times. It's not a big inconvenience for us. As for the kami band, you need to know they take a back seat in more modern performances on the more elaborate Japanese stages. They are still visible on smaller European stages and still do the elaborate intros. The fact that most pro videos are shot in Japan creates the impression that the Kami band have been completely sidelined, but they haven't. The Kami band don't write the music or record it on albums (Leda is an exception). They have a relatively small group of genius writers that Koba plucked out of relative obscurity years ago. The Kamis are a live band only. Think of Babymetal as being a bit like The Supremes at Motown if they were the only act (apart from Metalverse).

Great job. You have to understand the three ladies are Babymetal. As great as the Kami Band is The ladies are the stars. If you want see the musicians featured the easiest way to do it is to watch one of Babymetal's songs with an instrumental intro. Great reaction. This is a 20th birthday related special rendition where they switch the lead singer. Hence Momoko version. It was Momoko's final day as a 20 year old. If you're interested, you can check out Moa's version as well. Though I'm pretty sure others would suggest checking the regular version first. You need to remember that Kami Band is not officially part of Babymetal. They're are just session musicians hired for live shows only. They even has two sets of Kami Band. Eastern Kami Band (Japanese members) and Western Kami Band (American members). So, its kinda understandable that they don't get much screen time. But of course, we do still love them as they are a big part of the Babymetal Team. Anyway, keep diving in the Foxhole! 🦊🦊🦊

I was there at Yokohama Arena for both days of this concert. It was incredibly fun, but it was without a doubt the most exhausting concert I've been to, festivals included. It was so physical but it was 100% worth it.

This is to celebrate Momo's birthday, so it's natural that Kamiband doesn't get more exposure, but there are times when they will perform solo as intros in songs, Rondo of Nightmare, Catch Me If You Can, Kagerou, Yava, Metali. If you want to see more of Kamiband's performance, the live leged metal galaxy album is the choice, because there is also a performance from the original Japanese Kamiband, with Kami-U,S from the West and they will duet together to accompany the Babymetal songs Ijime Dame Zettai and Road of Resistance

Wanna see more of the Kami Band? Buy a ticket, go to a show. Babymetal are the girls, so the focus is going to be on the girls. The Kami Band are session musicians for live shows, and do not record in the studio. Found on another planet? Possibly. 2 of the Western (American) Kamis are also members of the Star Wars themed "Galactic Empire" band.

You can look at BABYMETAL any way you want, but it's 50/50 because visually they show dance and acoustically you hear a god band. They are a metal dance unit. Trying to see the band will only cause frustration.

Yeah, that's the disadvantage of someone used to traditional bands, the Kami band just plays the live (sometimes parts of the album), they are session musicians. But they really are a super group as well.

I have to let you know dude that shows like this are only about one percent of their total amount of shows, so 99 percent of their shows has the ladies right in front of the Kami Band, you can see them the whole time, you can also see them interact with each other, I get it that if you only watch their big special shows you mostly see the ladies, it is their band, but when they are on the road you see all of them all the time, our Kami Band gets more love than all the solo pop stars band members, when was the last time you saw the guitar player for taylor swift or Elton John ? sorry about the rant but it grinds my gears that so many reactors say the same thing about the band, and btw at this big special show to celebrate Momo's 21st birthday the Kami Band had two solo intros to songs where each member shows why they are in the Kami Band in the first place. Now I'm recommending an awesome song that you don't see the Kami Band at all, but you sure can hear them..."From Dusk Till Dawn" Live at Budokan 2021.

Shredder, you have the best intros of any KZbin artist I have ever seen. Man, I hope you are playing in a band that appreciates you. I understand what you are saying about showing the band more, however, this lack of screen time for the Kami Band is a function of a few things. First, Babymetal is the three girls at front, the Kami Band is a separate entity. This came about because the girls started performing as Babymetal from a very young age (11 and 12 years old). Early on, they couldn't afford a band so would sing live to metal backing tracks. As they grew in popularity, session musicians were hired to, at first, play a few songs live with them on stage, then as Babymetal earned more money they engaged the band permanently, based on band member availability. During this time, the girls were still at school, had other TV, acting and social and family commitments, so they couldn't commit to a full-time band as they didn't have the time to tour or be full time on the circuit. Because of this the band members needed to supplement their income by playing in other bands, doing session work; you know the drill. For this reason, there was a bit of a revolving door for musicians early on for Babymetal. However, as Babymetal's popularity grew, a core group of Japan's best session musicians were hired to back the rising girls from Babymetal. Today, Babymetal's Japanese concerts are massive works of art, with platforms that rise up levels to other stages, travel down to be back with the band and have circular stages that travel out (like a motorised thrust stage) to the centre of the crowd. The camera always follows the girls, who are Babymetal. There will be more and less focus on the band depending on the song. Remember, we are talking about the big Japanese show here. If you went to a BM concert outside of Japan, you would see a stripped back version of a Babymetal concert. The girls and the band will be on the same stage. In 2023, Babymetal played almost 100 shows across, I think, about 24(ish) countries; in around 90% of those were shows Babymetal was on the same stage as the Kami Band for the entirety of the concert. I saw Babymetal in June last year, and I had an unimpeded view of the three girls, and the Kami Band. Both the Kami Band and Babymetal were amazing. However, I still have a Babymetal concert in Japan on my bucket list, just for the spectacle of the show. Shredder, keep the good stuff coming.

@@Twistedshredder-HOG We all love the guitar solos and there are some Babymetal videos that give the Kami Band their time in the spotlight The Kami Band memberes are revered by Babymetal fans and we all wish the Band's management would cease the insistence on the band members wearing masks, it's not like we don't know who is playing at any concert, we can tell by the tone of the guitars or the drumming style who is playing (and by their tattoos), so it is pointless from a band member perspective, so the decision to keep them in masks must be an artistic call, I guess. The current Kami Band members (The Western Kamis) have backed Babymetal in around their last 140-150 shows (I have lost count). If you would like me to find a video by each of the current Kami Band members (from other bands they have been in or from their personal KZbin Channels), just let me know, I would be happy to find a good track from each of the four current members for you, just for you to watch in your own time. These guys really are as good as they sound in Babymetal videos.

SU-METAL: We often performed with metal bands at overseas metal festivals, and they were all very kind to us. For even so-called Metal Legends to accept our music so graciously is something I deeply appreciate. We perform a “new” kind of metal that’s respectful of the spirit of metal - so compared to when we first started, I think many more people accept us now. But of course, some metal fans have very strong and distinct preferences for what metal subgenres they like and dislike, and it’s natural to reject metal that you don’t like. So if you still don’t like us, it is what it is. I’m more than happy to be recognized by metal legends, so it doesn’t really bother me now.

@@sergragnar9452 I have no intrested in troll talking points. I deal in facts only. Pop singers by definition sing to pop music in pop bands. Su sings to metal with a metal backing band. She is by definition of her long term career, a metal singer. There is no set rules of what a metal singers voice has to sound like, but you do have to sing to metal, which she does. You don't have to like this fact, but you don't get to alter reality to suit your own personal opinion.
