Definitely impressive seeing it take down that big tree, but for my land I'll opt for a drum mulcher. Leaves a finer residue behind, clears below ground level so I can mow over it, and the cost to hire the job out is no different.

Looks more like a Feller/Buncher that's missing the "buncher". :-)

Let us know how you recover from the atomized poison ivy in your lungs. If you want to really sell more, don't demonstrate it as a chainsaw or forestry harvester. For 1"-5" or so heavy brush, as you drive it along it draws the trees into the upper chamber and shreds them down to tiny mulch way, way quicker than a drum mulcher. And you don't have to drag the teeth on the ground near rocks. The outer teeth are to get things cut so they can be sucked into the upper chamber, and the bottom teeth are for cleanup. A video showing common brush cutting/mulching challenges and how they are met with a traditional brush cutter/bush hog, a flail mover, a spinning drum mulcher and then this machine will be very helpful to your customers. 4 devices at 4 very different price points appropriate for 4 different but overlapping clearing challenges.

I’ve seen this type of machinery before. Go talk to your Neighbor the Morgan’s! He had one for less than a month, he liked it!

Does Kubota make a forestry kit or do you add : door, fops shielding as parts? thanks

Kubota makes some forestry accessories, there are several aftermarket options for extreme use.

Sure looks like an accident waiting to happen. The carrier should have a full forestry safety package as well, just as if you are using a drum mulcher.

Would it work if you were to set the disc down onto the stump rather than moving straight into it? Just curious. Cool machine either way, I can see it grinding a lot of underbrush to nothing!
@stanhutchins4365 Жыл бұрын
Is your Kubota standard or high flow? If standard flow I do believe a high flow would be a lot more efficient for the disc. I like it, it destroys the trees

What is the recomended kubota skid steer size for this mulching disc?

large as possible.

A lot of hydraulic stall when you take on trees that size. Stick to 6” or less. Every now and then take out a big one if you absolutely have to. These are not the best idea when you have neighboring houses, because they sometime shoot out sticks very far and can cause damage. When I do take on those jobs I leave about 15 ft of brush along fence lines to try and block flying debris. Then I use my grapple bucket to remove that brush at the end, make a pile, and mulch it facing away from houses. A downside is some customers expect a fine mulch that drum mulchers produce, so let them know before you take on a job. Lastly, they are so heavy and stick far out in front causing heavy wear on boom and coupler. Besides that, they get the job done.

Neil. Can something like a forest mulcher be mounted on kubota grand L 6060 HST? Or is there a mulcher that can be mounted on a tractor? Thanks

That’s just how the disc style is , touch the ground and just bogs down, and the Kubota doesn’t have the hydraulic hp to run it either

unimpressed. that's not mulch it's leaving on the ground
@FishFind30004 жыл бұрын
I’d consider this more a slasher than a mulcher. Drum style is way better than this.
@justanotheridiotredneck4 жыл бұрын
Discs are more productive while leaving larger size pieces. You can reprocess material laying on the ground, but not down to the size of a drum mulcher, which is less productive but leaves a finer finish. Each machine has its own purpose and one can't match the other in it's own respective strengths.
@Julian-do7bv4 жыл бұрын

Drum multcher is still better for complete clearing and mulching and get everything on the ground.
@MessicksEquip4 жыл бұрын
This will clear the ground, but the chips are much larger.
@stevewalsh87164 жыл бұрын
Drum mulcher is way better , disc mulchers leave a mess , cants leave a nice finished product
@justanotheridiotredneck4 жыл бұрын
One is no "better" than the other. They each have their own purpose. Disc is quick and not as refined a finish, drum is slower and a more refined finish is the trade off.
@FISHH00KS4 жыл бұрын
This pales in comparison to video's of drum mulchers. And if someone found this video on KZbin, they'll find videos of drum mulchers. 30% less? it should be 80% less because the idea and likely the engineering started with a rotary cutter and instead of blades it uses a disc. Since the disc spins you can only effectively use 50% of the disc at any time. That information comes from the manufacturers instructions themselves. Not an efficient or effective video coming from Messick's
