Absolutely love the MLX-G. Although I used heavy small lasers instead of er smalls. Figured it would be better for cracking open rear CT's to allow the MG's to core out mechs. Had some pretty good luck with it so far, provided I'm patient enough to get into position and wait to make my move.

I'd like to see you try my scorch ATM/LRM build. it absolutely crushes mechs, spits out 1200+ damage easily, all while using LRM's and ATM's to suppress mechs as you push with the front line. You play it like a mid to close-mid pushing and suppression mech, and fire your LRM's nonstop from 800m in to keep the enemy suppressed. It's really heat efficient and much more versatile than the LB40 meta scorch and one of the only mechs I've ever seen that uses ATM's well (the LRM's tank AMS for the ATM's so your damage always connects) and it even has a couple heavy medium lasers for up close or free heat. It uses 2x ATM12 /w 7 tons of ammo, 2x LRM15-Artemis with 6 tons of ammo, a clan probe, two heavy medium lasers and five total heat sinks on the stock XL340. Here's the build. I'd love to see you try it! it's an absolute RIOT when you actually push and treat it like a mid to short range damage dealer, because mechs flee from it like almost nothing else, the hail of missiles is insane. You absolutely don't play it like a LRM boat. the LRMS are there to suppress, tank for the ATM's, and deal damage as you close in, but the ATM's are the real sneaky damage dealers. It actually plays how you would expect a missile boat to work, even up to the brawl, where you are picking targets at optimal ranges and using the heavy lasers at anything closer to drive it off. It also softens the enemy bigtime before the big push with hails of missiles since it has so much ammo. Also Baradul, do a 4xSRM6A ShadowCat, it is amazingly effective now that we have the fourth missile slot. Been doing like 800+dmg with 4 out of 5 games. That build utilizes all of SHC's fixed components which is awesome.

you dont need energy weapons, just 6T ammo. Much better that way, you dont have heat capacity to utilize both E hardpoints anyways.

Idea for this build is you go behind an enemy open up a side torso and shred every component before they can turn. Then retreat and do it to another. If you can do it 2-3 times you carried for your team

I found a pretty nice counter to it with the PHX 1. It's got a quick torso and high speed to keep shots lined up. I put on a pair of large pulses for 20 (largely) pinpoint damage to strip off the armour. Capping it off there are 3 machine guns of its own to crit out the arms. I know range sounds like a good idea for a lot of folks but don't be afraid to run right up on someone either. You're more agile than most enemies bigger than you - use that. Jump over them, twist a lot, circle-strafe, be unpredictable (occasionally stop moving or back up) to break leads, and literally use your target as cover - the veteran Reds will hold back some to avoid friendly fire and newbie Reds will probably end up hurting your target more than they hurt you. If they get too close - switch targets to them and do the same. Tie up as many Reds as you can this way and let your buddies know that it's time to push. Embrace death for victory. MLX-G is less squishy with Survival Tree (which I always take) but there are better-armored Lynxes for sure. ;) #mistlynx4life

Myst Lynx are great harassers... so small that you end up with the locust effect, but not quite as fast (or small). Speed tweak (anchor turn paths) helps a bit with with that. I personally go speed tweak on alot of my Omni-Mechs, as it is the only way to get more speed, and allows you to adjust the pods without needing to adjust quirks. Or needing to adjust all your quirks. :p

Might be fun to try this with 3 C-H-MED lasers and Normal MGs... you lose 1 ton of ammo, but if you only use the MGs as finishing weapons, should be a solid little brawler-finisher. I usually like to get pretty close to my targets when I'm a light anyway. Or just stick with the LMGs, and your optimal range is the same for lasers and MGs.

I can say MGs of any kind aren't OP. Here's why: 1. They run off of ammo 2. They require armor breaches to do any real damage 3. They burn through ammo like it's nothing 4. *Most* BattleMechs cannot hold more than 4 5. It takes quite a few to do harm to enemy 'Mechs, 1-2 generally won't phase Mediums to Assaults, just tick them off 6. They are quite short ranged Edit: The problems with nerfing machine guns or adding ghost heat: 1. They don't make heat, and never have 2. If they're nerfed, half of the faster, lighter builds can be severely screwed over (Not including big lasers builds)

I have noticed lately that when I bring out a light mech I get an inordinate amount of attention. Ill be standing next to an Atlas or something thinking that between him and my ECM I'm basically invisible and yet they fire at me instead. I guess they don't want me pulling off flanking and missile spotting shenanigans but its still annoying when they stomp me instead of the much bigger threat.

sucks that the omnipod bonus's do not apply portions of their bonus to each individual omnipod section and instead wants the full set of 8 for the mist lynx (apart from added torso armor), otherwise the MLX-A variant i run, with its clan machine gun ROF bonus and the 2x MLX-G machine gun arms would have been amazing. the only downside to this mech so far is that i have been cored instantly when running out into someones stray shot, its pretty damned fragile at times.

I disagree with the comment about avoiding the VIP when fights are up close and even. I have been able to fuck the VIP by engaging from long distance first.. then closing in the gaps while my team mates approach. Usually by that time the enemy is alerted and surrounding the VIP. At which point, the VIP would have suffered moderate to heavy damage (if aimed at center torso only) and your teammates can fully ignore the mechs around and finish the VIP. It ends the game quickly and doesnt get you c-bills though.

I hate fighting enemy lights, anything bigger seems determined to shoot me first even if i'm peaking behind my team and when i sneak behind to backstab a few LRM boats and weakened brawlers I look up and see 2:8 on the team stats. . .

For every time a LRM boat kills a light in the open, twenty LRM boats pour a half ton of ammo into the side of a building/mountain because they're too focused on IDFing lights. The exception is not the rule, the rule is proven true by the exceptions.

Bringing crosshair to general direction lock on and shot doesnt require much of a "focus" *when you catch them on open* When a rule expresses a tendency or preference rather than a hard-and-fast delineation, and the difficulty encountered in going against that tendency demonstrates the force of the rule.
