Beautiful turns. Quiet steady head and upper body, but watch that board work! Smooth powerful turns rocking from arc to arc. She makes it look easy and fun!

Hi Mellen, Singaporean here aspire to be like you and eventually a CASI instructor too! Can I ask, how do you overcome the fear of a steep slope (for me is the reds) so that I'd stop leaning and weighting my back foot but instead be able to put more weight onto my front foot that would lead the turn. Thanks in advance!

You can force yourself to ride a LOT on it, then you can overcome it. But before that you need to have a solid foundation to ensure you won't injure badly on the steep slope.

Steering front leg only or steering both legs at same time? Appreciate for answering.
@MellenJay10 ай бұрын
Steering with both legs is going to get a smooth, consistent result in turns.

Hi Mel! I had a quick question - how does fore and aft pressure apply to this?
@MellenJay Жыл бұрын
Hi David, thank for watching! I expected your question to be about this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpqyh4qAiZuSZrs To try to answer your question very broadly: both knee steering and fore-aft pressure are skills that can be used or combined in different amounts, timing and duration in different terrain and situations to achieve all sorts of awesomeness in our snowboarding.

Does this hurt the knees if ride a lot?
@MellenJay2 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't hurt the knees, because the turning force is really from the hip and thigh: using core and glute muscles, which are strong and stable.

I've been trying to learn this. I keep catching an edge and fall! Will this move be easier on a softer flex board? My board is kinda stiff.
@MellenJay2 жыл бұрын
A little bit like using a screwdriver, try to be gentle as you begin apply knee steering. Imagine don't want to strip the screw head: make sure you are in a balanced position directly over your board, then gently and gradually apply force.
