awesome Cathy Z! Yes, important to activate and have strength in all our leg muscles for snowboarding, hope that gives you focus in squad.

Hi Mellen - I just came across your channel and I was pleased with how you cover technical topics rather quickly and in enough depth to help intermediate-ish snowboarders grasp it. quite impressive actually. I think the only other snowboarders on youtube that really do a good job at explaining like you are Malcolm Moore and Snowboard Addiction. outside the of the 3 of you, i don't think others break it down well enough. Kudos! Hoping that you can come out with more technical-ish snowboarding tips (non-park, well a bit of biased there bc of my riding style lol) to help riders and continue to break it down as well as you have! Cheers! AJ

Thanks, Mellen! Such a helpful topic! It takes quite some time to get these techniques right on the heel side though, working on it!

Thank you for watching, trying and commenting! Heel edge can be frustrating but at least you have something specific to try, rather than just disliking those turns. Keep progressing ^◡^

Hi Mellen, thanks for the tips! Do you have any off snow workouts recommended so I can feel those muscles activated? Perhaps that will help me transfer that feeling to when I am on snow …thanks in advance 🙏

I just came across your channel, but have noticed your great riding at big white (on the Aloha). Do you ever go positive with the rear binding? I think it makes the heelside a lot easier.
@MellenJay

Thanks, that's a kind compliment! Yes, that's my prototype Donek Kona. Agreed that posi back binding is a lot of fun, but it also limits some of the versatility I need for work. Are you one of the other Donek riders I've seen around?
@TheDerekHyde

No Donek. If I’m out to carve I’m on a Stranda Shorty, Korua Trench Digger or Jones Freecarver... People tend to recognize the winter beard.

Great tips. Great quality video and editing. Good energy and explanation. If i could give one piece of feedback i would say your audio is holding your videos back. Technique and execustion ia there on all other fronts! Just subbed. Keep shredding!

I completely agree: I am not happy with my audio quality either. Any resources you could point me towards for remkving background noise would be appreciated. Thank you so much for the sub and the feedback

@@MellenJay id probably grab a lav mic and just feed it to an audio recorder on a phone. If the mic is on your jacket out of the wind it should do ok. I havent tried recording audio while snowboarding but for other things i use joby wavo air lav mics and they seem to do well. I know tommie bennet does a lot of live q amd a vids and his audio on the slopes ia great. If i catch his next one ill ask.

@@TheShift1313 please do, thanks! I have to Rode Go setup, but I really struggle with wind/slope noise

@@TheShift1313 Much thanks, lav mic ordered. I dropped my Rode transmitter in the snow yesterday, thankfully found it by re-tracing my carves. So both for sound quality AND security.
