I notice Florida bears are thinner than Montana forested bears. Florida bears also have less hair. The bears, although thinner, appear healthy. I'm thinking the bears with thicker hair, look bigger partly because of all the hair they have. Also, Montana bears thicken up a lot, because of the long hibernation period. I don't know how long Florida bears hibernate for?

Hey Tim, this was a fabulous spot. And man, sure sucks haven your camera stolen. I suppose the Park Ranger could be right, but sadly there are a lot of opportunistic thieves with no conscience who will come across a camera and come back with bolt p-cutters, and many will carry a small pair just incase they run across a trail camera. Regardless, they're skunks of the highest order. Sorry man... Your new Recon Advantage has captured a lot of "Totally Awesome" video clips. Love your videos, Tim! I wonder: are there add-ons or something for your trail cameras that can broadcast a feed via satellite or something if they are moved more than X-number of feet? In other words, if someone tries stealing your camera, it would broadcast the last 4-or-so videos as well as whatever it is currently shooting to you, at home, and allow for tracking to where it ends up? That way, you'd not only know where the camera went (even if it's just destroyed) but also you may get some images of the thieves that you can turn over to the authorities. I know nothing about trail cams, mind you: I just hate to hear that people breaking laws cost you your equipment!

Hello Tim, I didn’t know where to put a note about your owl that’s on a live cam. So I figured I’d leave it here. First I’d like to say wonderful idea. I could sit and watch that owl for hours. It’s very interesting that she talks to her self. Or maybe she’s talking to her babies. We may never know. But when I was a kid back in the late 70s yeah my cat chased a baby screech owl into the yard. She never got really close to it because of the beek clicking. We called the people who could come rescue this poor owl. It was Fourth of July and within an hour of finding him on the phone, back then we didn’t have the Internet we looked in the Yellow Pages. But he came out and said the birds perfectly healthy but I will take it because it’s still a fledgling because it couldn’t fly. It was so cool my cat comes running up to the door and is screaming at us and then runs back towards the bird and circles it and then comes back to the house again. That cat brought me a gift every day. Sorry I’m rattling on here, really wonderful idea. Thanks Kathy

Wow! That 'coon sure put the Habeas Grabus on that lizard quick-like. Ditto the Little Blue Heron and the little fish. Surprised the ibis didn't try to steal it. When I was a kid living in that area 50+ years ago, the old timers would have called the ibis a "curlew". My folks generation used to eat them. This was a very timely video, Tim! Yesterday morning, we discovered that something had killed a young hawk that was very similar to the one seen near the beginning of this video. The one we found was a little more grayish in color where the one you videoed was a bit more tawny in color. It was killed in a large pine tree in our back yard; we saw the largest part of the body on a fairly large limb. My main suspect is one of the large owls we have seen and heard in the area. The next suspect is some kind of feline although we have never seen a bobcat (which, of course, means nothing) nor have we seen many house cats large enough to have attacked and killed this hawk 20-25 feet up in the tree. The images in the video confirmed our suspicions that the dead bird was young hawk. So, thank your for the great video once again.

Likely an owl. I have doves that feed and drink in my yard. One year, a small hawk swooped in and killed one, while i was watching. It sat there and fed on it for awhile. The very next day, i was watching, and there the hawk was again, hanging out. Then suddenly a flash. An owl swooped in and took out the hawk, then proceeded to feed on it. Very interesting to have witnessed.

Say, Tim: I was just thinking of something... With that beautiful Bobcat walking by (pretty much in the same direction) as well as the very brief bear footage, have you ever thought about putting another camera a short distance away facing your initial camera so that, between the two of them, you can get multiple angles of the same animals for compositing together a video with possibly better takes? Or would that be too expensive or prone to mishaps?
