SHRIMP FISHING on HORSEBACK in Oostduinkerke

We visited the horseback shrimp fishermen of Oostduinkerke (East Dunkirk) to see just how good their shrimp really are! (Hint: It was delicious!)
These fishermen in East Dunkirk use specially trained horses to catch shrimp in the shallow waters off the coast of Belgium. They fish during the months of April, May, September, October, and November, and go out fishing almost every other day. You can find specific dates and information at the following website:

It's like one of those slow burner workouts you think you can do no problem until your high school gym coach blows the whistle and you realize that extra chocolate milk you traded your apple for at breakfast has already worked it's way through your system 😎

You just ate the "real gold" of the north sea cost. Look at the price in the stores of these small wonders. And visit a local restaurant and eat a "tomaat Garnaal". Shrimp will never mean the same thing to you... TRust me and do it ! ( A local :) )

Thank you for the advice! We are planning to go back again, but as of yet we don't know when. I'm tempted to bring fresh pasta and Alfredo sauce and whip up my own fresh dish right there on the beach! 😅
