Hello, Richard I like the updated style of video! Honestly, for my 35 liter heavily planted tank even an 8W lightbulb worked fine The only reason I upgraded for a custom 14.4W LED strip (meter long) light is I want my plants to grow more vertically than diagonally (trying to reach out to a singe point of LED bulb). There is surely no one size fits all as everybody has different aquariums with different plants etc. So, my only tip would be try to match the shape/length of your light with the shape of your aquarium for the best looks.

Yeah, it can be tricky because pretty much everyone has a slightly different set up.

The other day I was thinking about filters. Often hobbyists brag about how big, how strong their mechanical filtration systems are. People brag about how frequent and how big water changes they do and stuff like that. Whereas in my opinion, it makes much more sense to brag about how you are able to keep a balanced healthy ecosystems for years with no mechnical filtration at all, no water changes, no gravel vaccuming etc. To work with nature, not against it. Although, I completely understand that this concept is almost unmanagable if you have dozens of tanks and do it for profit or you just don't want a lot of fast growing plants in your tank, and mechanical filtration helps a lot. Plus I live in Ukraine, where many people can get like 7 hours of electricity per day tops, so I'm trying to have my tanks as selfsustaining as possible And the same thing for aquascaping

I have that Hygger 24/7 light! It's great for a shrimp tank setup with plants. Honestly not the most intense light, so not for the most difficult and demanding plants, but it does well for low- and medium-light plantings. The sunrise/sunset ramping is perfect.

Thanks for another great video! I have tried allot of lots and my go to light is the Hygger Smart (it is the same as the one in this video, but has an app controller). I have tried Chihiros, Fluval, Nicrew and Twinstar and I have the Hygger in most of my tanks. I also recommend it to everyone who asks. It is by far the best light for the price. The Hygger lights also grow red root floaters better than any other light I have found. It turns them a beautiful bright red. I keep a wide variety of fish as well as neocaridina shrimp and amano shrimp.

This is exactly what I do. Lights in the morning for around 2 hours and when I am back from work I have lights on for 5 hours. 7 hours a day and everyone is happy 😁

Yay you finally got a personal mic! I love that your identifying the animal species but I would like the stenographer sound to be 2 or 3 clicks less, it's currently a bit aggravating. Didn't need the countdown in this one so much, not as much rambling or repeating, nicely done. The steno sound is an interesting replacement. Yes when in doubt, a sponge is the answer, been waiting for someone to say this. With my insomnia I can't run my bedroom aquarium lights on a timer, but was wondering about the science behind the twilight hours - how important are they? Another great vid, thanks for creating and sharing, loving the series too 👍❤️🦐

I have several hygger products, and I like them a lot. I was eyeing that filter the other day, but I haven't decided to get it yet. Do you like it? I need a new one for a 20 gallon tank.

Have you had to petform maintenance on the Hygger hang on canister filter yet? I could be wrong, but it appears you will need to remove the whole unit....or be ready with a bag when you remove the bottom.
@FishKeepingAnswers3 ай бұрын
It seems fairly easy. Just unscrew the two pipes and lift the canister off. 🤞🏻

Hi Richard. I'm setting up a nano shrimp tank this week. But stuck with a doubt with CO2 and sponge filter. Since the filter removes ammonia by aeration, it would be possible that it could also remove the diffused CO2 for the plants. Do u think the aeration could cancel out the CO2 diffusion? If yes, then how to tackle this?

Would you be able to show which type of sponge is best for baby shrimp? I have a sponge filter on my HOB that came with it but now I'm worried that it is not fine enough to prevent them from perishing.

Hi Richard. Got a quesion, i'm sure you can advice me here. I want to disband my orange neos colony. I left with just one orange shrimp in there. I want to start blues there. Is it good idea to put that one remaining orange shrimp in Yellow Fire colony? They are quite alike regarding color. I've got Neon Yellows as well and they are much different. I know that mixing different colors of Neos can produce usually bad colored shrimps. What do you think is gonna add that orange shrimp into my pure Yellow Fire line?
@FishKeepingAnswers3 ай бұрын
Hi. Personally I wouldn’t mix the colours. Although they may appear similar to you and I, the colour genes are almost certainty not the same. If the two colours crossbreed, you will end up with clear or light brown shrimp. Hope that helps. 🤞🏻

@@FishKeepingAnswers Thank you. I thought so, but i needed pro's confirmation. I will give this lone orange one to a fish store and start a Blue colony soon. Velvets or Dreams i guess.

Hey just a question for anyone that may know. I have Java moss in my shrimp tank and the majority of it has turned a reddish brown but the bottom of the clump is still green. The reddish brown part doesn’t seem to be dying since it’s been this way for over a month now. I’ve tried reducing my light and giving root tabs. I’m not sure how else to get my moss green again. Any suggestions would be amazing.
