"Reh-fill" was my favorite part of this video. What a cool pen! I'm the type to carry pens (because they're sturdy as you mention) around and scribble on anything I find laying around and test compositions out-- but most pens, if they aren't archival ink felt tips, definitely make on-the-go "random" mixed media tough. We ended up getting some Schmidt pens in at my office as samples and I can say it was my favorite when it comes to line handling, inkflow, and avoiding those "blobs." Seeing a pen-type "housing" that can have essentially replaceable nibs sounds like a wonder. I'd love to find some in red and blue for lineart purposes, ditching the need to carry pencil sharpeners for my red and blue draftman pencils. Love these insightful videos, I think that's what was missing in my watercolor classes in school: different techniques and experimentation demos!

I drew with ballpoint pen before got into rabbithole of fountain pen this year 😂 I like how subtle (and waterproof!) the lines combined together with watercolor, compared to india ink/fountain pen ink. The blue Sailor Sou-boku ink that you used in other paintings is also super nice!

Nice. Usually the ball points I used aren’t water proof, but watching this unfold, looks kind of fun.

Great review! What a great texture on the linework. Also the fact that you can also use watercolour on top of it without messing it up makes it an awesome option. Great content as always, Mateusz!

Hi Mateusz, 👋🏼I am getting to know you from your artworks books. Noticed that your work is very beautiful, I also bought the two artworks book and then trying to study them carefully. 😍Then I found that you have your own youtube channel to share these creative process and throughs of your work. This drives me to learn more about your drawing style. I also always hope that you will have interest to open a new series to teach us how to draw the background and how to draw the scenery that makes the picture look like we found when we are walking. Hope that you will start a new series of online tutorial to teach us about how to draw.🤩

I’ve never seen a type of pen like the one you showed; the mechanism is very interesting and even better that you can replace the cartridge with different brands! I’m a beginner with fountain pens, and boy, they really require maintenance 😥 but I love the lines that I can get with them

Amazing work as always, it was interesting seeing you use a ballpoint pen for the lines! I usually make a pencil sketch, erase it until it's barely visible, then use a ballpoint pen for the main illustration or drawing that I'm working on probably 80% of the time. I use a black ink 0.7 mm Signetta ICO ballpoint pen, sometimes with blue ink. The good thing that it's one of the cheapest ballpoint pens on the market, you can buy it in packs too, and the black ink is dark and can make very thin lines, can give a black and white manga style/effect to the drawing. For thicker lines, not that ideal but I usually go over multiple times for a thicker line or draw with fine lines. The grip is amazing, because it's has a six sided pencil shape, so if you love drawing with pencil, it's an easy transition. The bad thing is that it's one use only, and it doesn't really work on top of graphite. Also, halfway through the pen it can create ink blobs, but it's not that bad and big of a problem. It's the perfect cheap ballpoint pen for beginners, and other than black, you can get it in blue, red and green too if you want. Just sharing what I use for beginners to try out, I am sure your pens are far superior than what I use!

Wow ! Nice painting, I like the contrast and the red flowers they really add a nice spicy touch, the crow looking back is a good pose too. To be frank, no matter how hard I try to enjoy your digital work, I can't help but think that your watercolors work takes anything to you paint to the level above. It may sound cliché, and I don't want to belittle digital media (it has its pros and applications) , but when you go with ink, paint and paper, your drawings/paintings are getting some sort of soul or aura. 3:35 I understand what you mean about ballpoints being whimsical, I feel the same. I'm glad you find a good model that solve part of the issue. You know, for fountain pen maintenance and permanent inks, you can also get your hands on these cheap nonetheless good Platinum Preppy 0.2 pens, they cost literally nothing, and keep one dedicated for drawing, filled with your pigmented ink of choice without having to clean it regularly. they have a slip & seal feature that prevent ink from drying. I use my Preppy with Platinum carbon black and it never dries up and I never clean it. Then you can dedicate your more precious fountains pens to other (safer) tasks at home, and take the preppy with you for live sketching without the "nerve-racking feeling I risk to brake it or lose it" .

Pozdr

I always forget ballpoint pens are water proof
3 жыл бұрын
To be honest, ballpoint pens are mostly water resistant and not waterproof: with lots of water, the ink will spread. It's actually more difficult to find a real waterproof one. I've got the uni-ball eye which truly is waterproof, it flows super nicely but the resulting line is very bold, and not like Mateusz's ones where he gets variations with pressure. Hope this helps ^_^
@evilswanatthepark3 жыл бұрын
@ I like the idea of a more muted line that doesn't get in the way of the watercolour , I've got one of those uni ball pens I used to use it for lines ages ago but I've switched to using acrylic inks and a dip pen for lines 👍
