What a great idea to cut these in interesting shapes, I assume by a diecut machine. I’ve been disappointed when I’ve cut them with straight sides because after they are done with shrinking they aren’t always straight. This is a great way to get around that! Thanks for sharing.

I am always enchanted by the results of shrinking down an image with shrink plastic. You have created such lovely embellishments. I ALWAYS learn from you. When I was in grade 7 a boy gave me a sweet pendant he had made from shrink plastic. How completely adorable. I always remember that when I think about shrink plastic. :-) This inspires me to get out the shrink plastic and play!!

I certainly did in joy that! I haven’t experimented with shrink plastic in years. I think I still have some in my stash from when my kids were young. I will have pull it out and see what I can come up with! I love seeing you apply and shade your colors. I have not had any art classes even when I was young, so I am eager to learn. I love how you called heating the plastic “the fun” part. To me it is always the scary part. I worry I won’t do it right. TFS

Loved this project. I did not realize you could use your heat tool to shrink the material. Thought you had to bake it. Yipee!! You must have the patience of a saint. You seem so committed to detail, whether fussy cutting, drawing or painting. I try and watch everything you do. I even enjoyed it when you redid your studio.

So cool! Never knew there was such a thing as shrink plastic! Great use of the die cuts!! I think I'll check Michael's for this - would be a super fun project to do with my daughter 😃 I wonder if she'll panic when the heat gun makes the plastic melt/roll up?!?! I'm glad I saw how easily you got it to lay flat after the initial melt/curl; or I would have lost my mind if that had happened to me!!! LOL 🤣😂 Thx 4 the great idea!! I was watching random shrink plastic video to get art ideas for my daughter. Landed on your video and stopped. The combination of your choice in music, your voice and watching your hands at work kept me enthralled. Now on to the questions. I have heard of using toaster ovens for shrink plastic but the idea of the heat gun seems better. I found a U.S. version of the Ranger but I can't find anything like the damping block you used. Is that just a glass block or is it actually something called a damping block. When I think of damping I picture the item used to tap around on pastel pictures to give it a softer look. I'm certain I am wrong on this one. Can you show me a link to one in the U.K. to give me an idea of what I am searching for? I can't wait to get started doing some of these with her. I did what was called Shrinky Dinks as a kid in the 70's and had a blast. Oh almost forgot. Have you used the pencils on clear plastic? If so did you like the results? Thanks and you have a new subscriber.

Another video...yay! :) Haven't worked with the pan pastels....just curious if they need a fixative, or does the heating/shrinking fix the color permanently? Have not played with shrink plastic in ages....may need to get some now. (Just what I need...more supplies...lol)
@artfulevidence7 жыл бұрын
They don't need a fixative after shrinking. I guess the process kind of melts them into the plastic. I think the shrink plastic would benefit from some light sanding to better hold the colour however. Of course, this is not something you could do if using the clear plastic because it makes the transparent surface cloudy, but definitely an option for the translucent plastic that I am using here.
