I'm almost 70 and had very oily, acne prone skin all my teen and adult life. In those days the conventional advice was to overcleanse, use harsh levels of acne medications & stay away from all moisturizers (they were mostly oily and occlusive then). Sunscreen was almost unknown. As a result I have scarring from cystic acne and very large pores. I wish I had known then what I know now. My point is LISTEN TO DR DRAY, PLEASE.

Thank you! I've been smoking about a pack a day for some time now - maybe 2-3 months - and I've noticed that the pores around my nose got really nasty, visibly bigger and extremely clogged. And worse - it seems like this trend is spreading across my entire face with a very disturbing pace. I've taken action by investing into a few new cleansers and creams as realistically this is the easier part I could immediately make happen. The other that is easier said than done is obviously quit smoking as it is a very smelly and pricey habit that has done me no favors. Anyways, really enjoyed the vid and will be implementing a lot of what is in it. :)

My favorite salicylic acid product is by by Organys, available on Amazon. They are economical pads soaked in 20% glycolic acid/0.5% salicylic acid. I am middle aged but still get some acne. While it's not as bad as when I was younger, the acne that I do get tend to leave hyperpigmentation. I like that it is primarily anti aging, but a touch of salicylic acid keeps the remaining acne at bay. These pads are strong, so unless you are an experienced acid queen such as myself, you may need to space out the applications. I find that I get best results when I keep my skin slightly crispy. Just don't apply and then go outside in the sun, even with sunscreen- ouch! Before bed is a good time to use the pads.

I'm almost 32 and had been struggling with really, really bad acne, redness, and bad eczema until I tried Differin gel and some other stuff cause of Dr. Dray's videos. I use a washcloth to occasionally exfoliate. Day time: I use a sulfur bar soap from CVS. After I wash, I apply a little CeraVe moisturizing cream to my completely wet face and neck. After 20 minutes I apply my over the counter Differn gel to my face and neck. After it completely dries, I apply my sunscreen. I use chemical sunscreen (banana boat invisible spray) SPF 50 if I will be wearing makeup. If I don't plan on wearing makeup, I use banana boat sport SPF 100. At night, I do the same routine minus the SPF. I started out with the Differin gel once every other day cause it was soooooo drying and my skin started to purge and got way worse. After 2 weeks, my skin started to tolerate it. In a month, my skin was cleared for the first time in over 15 years. It can take up to 3 months for you to see a major difference, but it is great. Watch Dr. Dray's other videos on Differin gel prior to use to find out what not to use and do in conjunction with the gel cause not following her advice will make the gel not work effectively. I strongly suggest trying my routine or something similar cause my acne is GONE, finally. If I would have done this sooner, I would have saved my skin from scarring so much.

Hi! If someone had told me younger than sunscreen was the solution for beautiful skin, I would have done it long before. When we were younger, we were only told that sunscreen was good for not getting sunburned and for avoiding skin cancers. But we didn't talk so much about all these skin problems. I'm lucky, I don't have too many problems with my pores. I would tell young men and women to start applying sunscreen very early. We should do more prevention! Yes, we do it for cancer, but if we added the other negative factors, there would surely be more people making it their routine! It is people like you who can change customs and help more people take care of their skin!

Thank you, Dr. Dray. I really appreciate your advice. I think that we can make our pores larger by following the advice given on other videos. I think that we also need to practise self-acceptance and realize that our pores aren't as big as they appear in our magnifying mirror! Peace, everyone!

Dr Dray, salycilic acid is the key to me! But, as I read before, It only works well in PHs lower than 4. I have The Ordinary salycilic acid 2% and it's good, and very tolerable for my skin even tough It has witch hazel. Two questions I'd like to ask: how can we know If the product which contains salycilic acid is in the correct PH and LHA studies are not extended. Can we trust in LHA and LHA is able to work in higher PH?

I am going to be 35 this September. I’ve always been known for my great skin. I was told that I look very young for my age. Until recently. I’ve noticed that my skin is starting to age. I’ve been focusing a lot more on my skin care lately. I’ve always had a pretty normal skincare routine, but I’ve never had to really do more than the 3 step process like Clinique. I’ve been using the 3 step number 2 skincare routine from Clinique for about 17 years now. It has always worked. But I’ve noticed my pores around my nose and cheeks are just so much more noticeable and my forehead is oily. I am going to try some of these products and hopefully they help. Thank you. Also, I tried Clinique under eye cream. But I woke up with puffy eyes after using it… why is that? My Korean friend is in her 50’s but still has 20 year old skin and zero wrinkles.. she said I should just eat kimchi but is K beauty products worth it? Such as cosrx?

Hi Dr. Dray. Love your content. I was wondering if you could cover sebaceous filaments, more specifically on the nose, and how to reduce their appearance. I’ve been trying all sorts of salicylic acid products with very minimal results. Thank you!

Jasmine Celis I think I read on Paulas Choice website about sebaceous filaments and that things like exfoliants dont work for them, because they are not the same. I personally just leave it and if it gets a little too much I squeeze the skin a bit. Sorry TMI ;).

It's highly unlikely you will look 30 when you're 50. The fact of the matter is aging will win in the end and no amount of time and money spent on doing all these things will make someone look 20 years younger especially to those who can guess age well and already know about skin care.

Happy Tuesday Dr. Dray. I use the LaRoche Posay (60 and 50) with no problems and I'm glad to know they aren't going to exacerbate my pore situation. I've been testing the Innis Free PA 50++++ with no issue so far. Now, it looks like I have other options if I get bored with what my current routine. TFS as always.
@yuliache51362 жыл бұрын
1. How often would you recommend using La Roche-Posay BHA/AHA/LHA serum? I have a combination skin, and my current routine mostly keeps the oil under control. Using different products containing BHA before almost always resulted in unmanageable dryness. Just trying to figure out the routine that would help instead of harming 😊 2. Pores are only concerning in a few areas. Should I be targeting those, or go over the entire face? (You might've said it, sorry if I missed it). PS. I really enjoy your content, thanks for sharing your knowledge! Much love from Canada.

I used 2 weeks and I already see my skin is looking so much better. And it was during my period! I always get pimples before it comes. But then one day I dropped my salicylic acid in the floor and broken, my pimples come back after 2 days. I never knew how important Salicylic acid is. And I see so clearly how my skin changing so quick when I start use AND stop using
