1) Sunscreen (broad spectrum with niacinamide) 2) Moisturiser (oil-free, ceramics) 3) active ingredients to clean pores - salicylic acid (+green tea extract / beta-hydroxy acids / retinoids (gel) / Vitamin A) active ingredients can be drying so you must moisturise (use active ingredients on problem areas only & only AFTER moisturiser & at night)! 4) stop smoking! 5) cosmetic peels (but still need to do all the above) / IPL+Suction laser (not long lasting, still need to do the above) / resurfacing lasers / LED light mask

I'm almost 70 and had very oily, acne prone skin all my teen and adult life. In those days the conventional advice was to overcleanse, use harsh levels of acne medications & stay away from all moisturizers (they were mostly oily and occlusive then). Sunscreen was almost unknown. As a result I have scarring from cystic acne and very large pores. I wish I had known then what I know now. My point is LISTEN TO DR DRAY, PLEASE.

I like to think UVA =ageing UVB =burning the UVA rays are there and you can't feel them or get burnt by them these are the rays that break down collagen and they cause sun ageing this is why everyday I wear sunscreen it's my moisturiser and I live in the UK so we don't get a lot of sun I'm taking no chances and trying to form good habits

It's highly unlikely you will look 30 when you're 50. The fact of the matter is aging will win in the end and no amount of time and money spent on doing all these things will make someone look 20 years younger especially to those who can guess age well and already know about skin care.

Dear Dr Dray, you should talk the best after sun lotions when your skin is burned/blistered or just tanned. Summer is here, and although I always put sunscreen and my skin is darker, It doesn’t happen a lot, but had happened.

Dr. Dray, could you do an episode for bald men? I am 45, ginger, bald and shaved head, with a beard. If I use any sunscreen my head shines like a mirror all day lol. For real. Like an actual mirror. My beard randomly flakes, which I use ketoconazole after a thorough beard wash, but it takes days to correct. I have large pores I my nose, and lately I've been getting these...bumps...on my face. They are not pimples, they're flesh colored. If you could do an episode for guys like me, I would be forever in your debt. -James

I'm almost 32 and had been struggling with really, really bad acne, redness, and bad eczema until I tried Differin gel and some other stuff cause of Dr. Dray's videos. I use a washcloth to occasionally exfoliate. Day time: I use a sulfur bar soap from CVS. After I wash, I apply a little CeraVe moisturizing cream to my completely wet face and neck. After 20 minutes I apply my over the counter Differn gel to my face and neck. After it completely dries, I apply my sunscreen. I use chemical sunscreen (banana boat invisible spray) SPF 50 if I will be wearing makeup. If I don't plan on wearing makeup, I use banana boat sport SPF 100. At night, I do the same routine minus the SPF. I started out with the Differin gel once every other day cause it was soooooo drying and my skin started to purge and got way worse. After 2 weeks, my skin started to tolerate it. In a month, my skin was cleared for the first time in over 15 years. It can take up to 3 months for you to see a major difference, but it is great. Watch Dr. Dray's other videos on Differin gel prior to use to find out what not to use and do in conjunction with the gel cause not following her advice will make the gel not work effectively. I strongly suggest trying my routine or something similar cause my acne is GONE, finally. If I would have done this sooner, I would have saved my skin from scarring so much.

@@ashg4045 thank you so much for your skin care routine. Today I actually trashed my St. Ives acne wash & just found out that my Aveeno acne wash & skin brightening have the chemical "fragrance" 😔 what kind of spf do you wear under makeup? I was going to buy COtz Dr. Dray recommended

@@familydelvideos4460 No problem! I promise you that I have tried EVERYTHING on the market (cheap and high-end) and other prescriptions, but my current routine is the only thing that has ever helped me. I use Banana Boat Sport Performance coolzone broad spectrum SPF 50 invisible clear spray. I spray it onto clean hands, then pat it on my face. Doesn't get in my eyes and dries nicely, so I love it. I would try the one Dr. Dray suggests, but will have to wait until my stash of sunscreen runs out. Lol.

Happy Tuesday Dr. Dray. I use the LaRoche Posay (60 and 50) with no problems and I'm glad to know they aren't going to exacerbate my pore situation. I've been testing the Innis Free PA 50++++ with no issue so far. Now, it looks like I have other options if I get bored with what my current routine. TFS as always.

Salicilic acid/2%bha helps me to get smaller pores because they can't shrink if they are not clean so double cleansing and using this acid cleans the pores out, it takes about 2 weeks to really see a difference.
