I think the writers of the show knew that we were aware that Ray was going to die at the hands/jaws of Komodo Dragon, what I didn’t expect was how they handled it. Watching Ray struggle and then seemingly crushed to death in Komodo Dragon’s neck as a lighter layer of blood spills out of his mouth was a mortifying sight. It definitely made the 1 week wait that revealed that Ray survived without any hints a lot more satisfying, especially for the many fans who still haven’t found out about Dupli-Kate’s real fate.

Now with the final episode of season 2 coming out soon, we all know who's getting a video about themselves next: Anissa the viltrumite who sexually assaulted Mark, and then gave birth to his son Markie. Who becomes the new Invincible at the end of the comic book series.

Normally I dislike it when adaptations change a character's gender or race, as it's just a lazy way of checking a box. But at the same time, Shrinking Ray was a very small (pun intended) character in the comics, so him being changed into a woman really doesn't impact anything in terms of character or plot, so I don't mind it.

I don't know if I like Rae surviving. Cause one of the things I like the most about Invincible in comparison to other Super-Hero comics, is that characters *fricking* die, and they die *forever.* I would rather than they gave a bigger relevance to the character so her death hits better. Cause in the comic you just don't care about Ray, has by far the less development in the guardians, and he is supposed to be part of the big team, he *should* have the same relevance than Dupli-Kate or Monster-Girl, and he just doesn't. The guy is just there. Cosplaying a Pea. The only memorable thing about the character was his death, for how brutal it was, and now it dosn't even has that.

Bro Atom Eve literally revives twice in the comics and half the characters have cop-out deaths. Marks death is faked by Tyranosaurus, Angstrom lives from his fight with mark despite clearly being dead, and there are a dozen other examples. Characters in invincible do NOT stay dead lol

But the rest of characters die, they die forever, cause the comic has an ending. I don't give 2 pickles for Damian Wayne dying cause everybody knows he Is going to go back at some point. But when Rex die he Is *done*. And that's the cool thing. Death actually matters in Invincible. My Guess Is that the only reason Ray Is still alive Is cause they are short of characters for Invincible War, cause that Arc involved a lot of characters that they just can't use un the show.

Kate also fakes her death and there’s literally a character (immortal) who’s known for dying continuously. It’s actually harder for me to name a character who STAYS dead than one who doesn’t.

@@serpentreed7332 Thadius dies, Battlebeast dies, Cecil dies, Shapesmith dies, Ray dies, Oliver dies, all the guardians die. Levy dies, Anissa dies, Nolan dies. Argubly most of the characters are dead for the ending of the comic. Rex gets shot in the brain, but he actually never used his brain, so he survived, but then dies and remains dead until the end. Kate it would be actually dumb if she actually dies. Inmortal whole gimmick is that he can't die. The point is that when a character dies, even if is a fake death, you believe it, cause you don't have reason to not do it. If a character dies in One Piece you are like "Yeah, sure buddy" That's what I'm talking about, that death matters unlike in most Superhero comics when "Oh no, Dr. Octopus is death" just to a few issues latter being like "By the way, I undie myself. Also I'm evil again, don't ask."

@@paperknigth2263 yes and all of those characters can easily come back as we’ve seen with dozens of others. I can list every fakeout death in the whole series but I don’t feel like I need to to make my point. Hell you list Levi, Oliver and Nolan but all those characters have fakeout deaths too. Plus the original point of what you’re arguing is still wrong which is that when a character dies they stay dead. And if your grievance is that shrink Rae won’t die, I guarantee you they will probably still die in invincible war, so I’m not sure what the issue is to begin with?

Really glad she survived in the show, I kinda hate the trope of expendable characters who exist only to die. It’s the same thing as having no character at all, it doesn’t make for an interesting moment when they do end up dying cause you just don’t care since they haven’t been developed at all.

Thats how i felt about the character in the comics... like... i legitimately forget that he died vs the Lizard league bc up until that point he had like 5 total lines of dialog in the entire series haha

Honestly changing the gender isn’t a big deal because she’s not a huge character in the comics or show the gender or race being changed when it’s a huge part of the character is when it’s woke.

They definitely did change his gender in the name of being more woke, but I they made him so much more interesting that it doesn’t bother me. At least they did a better job with the character

I remember thinking "Aaaand there she goes" when *that* happened, knowing her comic equivalent was killed so suddenly I was sure this was gonna be the end for her as well. This definitely is a change for the better, I hope they know what they're gonna do with her after this.
