Dude, if I could give this video multiple likes, I would. There have been only 2 tracks that I have struggled getting shroomless cuts down on: Yoshi's circut and mute city. After this video specifically calls out releasing the mini turbo early on mute city (much earlier than I ever was), I can now do both mute city and yoshi's circut! Thank you so much for this and all your other very helpful videos. It means a lot!

A lot of shortcut videos on here are just sort of compilations with no further explanations. I love that you actually take the time to explain what you're doing in detail, and why you're doing it. I'm entering a mario kart tournament tomorrow after not having played more than a handful of times in the past year (my switch doesn't connect to my student housing's wifi, and I ain't got the money for that many mobile hotspot hours), and thanks to this video and a couple of hours of practise I feel much more prepared than I did previously - even if I haven't fully nailed some of the harder shortcuts. For your combo (and king boo), the most important things are to trick off the very right side of the first ramp, and do a left trick while facing slightly left. This gives you a better angle to charge your MT, and also the left trick is a counter trick so you won't turn as sharply when you drift!

Hey, shortcat! There are a couple more shortcuts that are of the same calliber as these that could be cool too include! The shroomless grass cut for dYC is pretty similar to the cut in rMC and saves a good amount of time. The beginning shroomless cut on rRRy is feels sick to land if you can do it consistently -- charge a SMT around the second right turn release into a hop over the grass and then trick on the boost panel. And then -- this one is a little more technical -- right after gap cut on Mount Wario you can start a left drift off the first ramp in the cave and charge an UMT while taking a crazy tight line. Those are some of my favorites that weren't included here, so thought i would mention them

The closer you are to the snowman, the more likely you'll have success at the Snow Land cut. The bad thing about the DK Summit (a.k.a. Jank Jank Summit) cut is that it skips the only fun part of the track. It literally comes right as the fun's about to begin, and if done successfully, you're landing at the exact point where the fun by going around comes to an end. 💔 It's faster, so I understand why it's needed for competitive play, but since I have more fun by taking the "slow" route, it's a good thing I *don't* play competitive. The big cut at Rock Rock Mountain is highly risky without a ⭐ (or Father Boo). Lightning can strand unprotected players in the middle of the grass, killing all momentum and turning a race from glorious grand theft into extreme frustration. Technically, Hyrule Circuit is still a DLC course. It's just DLC on the Wii U, which became one of the base 48 courses on the Switch. At Mount Wario, is it faster to take the cut as sharp as possible, or is it faster to aim for the trickable surface and mini turbo trick to clear the cut? I love the air hops at Waluigi Stadium, but I definitely need to practice to get better at actually doing them myself. *WAH!* It's ridiculous and hilarious how two Gold Mushrooms turn the entirety of Cheese Land into one giant shortcut. 🤣 That ending, tho. 👀😆👍

Besides the gap jump, there is another short in Mushroom Gorge where you use a mushroom to boost to the left a bit after the starting line and there is a low mushroom that will bounce you up and onto the next mushroom

On the mute city shortcut, you can make it easier but you need to get to the second ramp and use a mushroom. Shorrcat did it shroomless so that's why its harder

The final Mario kart stadium cut can be done shroomless every time. I hold my drift longer so that I’m boosting off the ramp and just hug the line of the wall as you go around and you can land in a drift if you do it right. I also play with tilt controls always on though

3:56 i have a different method for the fast cut you do a regular trick on the right side of the track, and wait a bit. after your trick boost runs out, you start a soft right drift to get a miniturbo. maybe a little bit slower but extremely consistent lol edit: forgot to mention to make sure ur to the right of the far right tree

That works too, but it probably needs delayed drifting? Some people have not learned that yet so I figured left hop + right drift would be the easiest (also doesn't need soft drifting). Your method is great once you master drifting a bit more, and is less susceptible to bumps compared to the time trial method I showed!

Video Idea: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but I only take the slowest routes in the race. You can take optimal lines around corners, but for example in sunshine airport, you take the boost through the plane instead of dropping below it. I think you're good enough to still win :)
