I had a small tumour on my vocal chord which was best sorted with radiotherapy. I worked with two guys who were deaf and dumb from birth. What they acquired from their condition were keen observation skills, sensitive to scents and vibrations. You never really realize how important your voice is until it's gone. I've had laryngitis a couple times. One of the times I lost my voice completely, and it was horrible. I kept wanting to whisper, even though it's worse for the voice. May your time pass swiftly!
