I noticed you larks-headed your headlamp onto your ridgeline. I used to do that too...Until I realized that I could just clamp the headlamp onto the line using the hinge of my headlamp. It makes getting it off in the dark much easier. I haven't had any problems with it falling doing it that way. It also fixes the light in a position that doesn't shine in my eyes or wiggle around if I need some indirect lighting at night. Give it a try if you haven't already. It's worked great for me and is one of those tiny little details that has improved my setup for me.

shugemery : It makes for a quicker draw on those cold, new moon nights early (Early!) in the morning before the sun's up and you have a few extra layers between you and your midnight piss. Every second counts! It's definitely worth a try, it's worked great for me or I never would've mentioned it to you. You've shared so many good tips with me, I figured I could share an idea that may help you.

THE IMPERATOR Don’t do it.. your old tent will collect dust, your sleeping pad will never see the light of day again. You’ll never sell your old stuff cause you’ll convince yourself you’ll use it again one day but you wont. You’ll run off with your hammock like its a mistress and have the best sleep of your night. I don’t even much care for my bed anymore. I miss my old simple camping days when nights in the woods were supposed to be uncomfortable and home was sanctuary. Hammocks are like some new dimension, nothing makes sense anymore.

Step #1 to hammock camping! Locate 2 sturdy trees about 4 farmer paces apart in your yard. My yard has NO trees, the neighbor's lot has trees too far apart!!!! It makes it difficult to practice set up. I'm a gunna get out a post hole digger and "plant" my own trees, darn it!

I know I’ve said this before but you are the reason I am now in a hammock it’ll be three years this April and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Well I got called a few times but I figured it out. Pretty much every time I watch one of your videos I learned something new. There is a gentleman by the name of Mike Williams, he’s a member of Hammock forms he started making dog hammocks or gear hammock . He makes a great product. Your daughters dog is adorable. How much does sunlight and rain wear down the fabrics? Thanks, always learning from your videos!

I would not worry about sunlight and rain on a trip. 'Nother matter hanging in your yard full time. UV rays will damage tarps in time.

Thanks Shug! Hoping to hike a bit of the Sioux Hustler Trail but was hoping to leave hammock/tarps set up for quick crashing when we got back. Happy Trails!

Just fyi be careful as MrBean has resource guard tendency and my nip you one day. Frodo is trained such that I can take his food away in the middle of him eating. But I don't want to see you bit. I like your first dig ridge began. Thanks.

What's that papery mappy thingy? 5:55 It doesn't have a touchscreen or battery ? How does one use it? Maybe to start a fire, I suppose. Meanwhile you cinch your cinch sack and stuff your stuff shelf as said by Shug :)

Is your warbonnet custom made? Mine has the shelf to my right when in the hammock. So that puts the opening to get out on my left.

I was wondering : Why do you prefer having your head lower than your feet? Does this help keeping the feet warm? (I guess not?)
@shugemery
@shugemery 5 жыл бұрын
It keeps my body in the sweet spot in the hammock. Otherwise I could tend to slide towards the footend.

Off topic hammock question. I've got an unrepairable back and hip injury. I have to sleep on my back and side, constantly flip flopping. My hammock no longer works for me. What hammock do you suggest for the most flattest, comfortable stomach sleep?

I might have missed it. What do you do with your boots?
@shugemery
@shugemery 5 жыл бұрын
Did not show that. I leave mine on the ground. Sometimes jammed under my pack...sometimes loose. Sometimes tied together. Some folks hang them from the suspension. Some put sticks in the ground and invert the boots on them. So many ways. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGrHoHqugL-jf6M Getting ready to update this video on pack and boots as this one was 2015
