I noticed you larks-headed your headlamp onto your ridgeline. I used to do that too...Until I realized that I could just clamp the headlamp onto the line using the hinge of my headlamp. It makes getting it off in the dark much easier. I haven't had any problems with it falling doing it that way. It also fixes the light in a position that doesn't shine in my eyes or wiggle around if I need some indirect lighting at night. Give it a try if you haven't already. It's worked great for me and is one of those tiny little details that has improved my setup for me.

THE IMPERATOR Don’t do it.. your old tent will collect dust, your sleeping pad will never see the light of day again. You’ll never sell your old stuff cause you’ll convince yourself you’ll use it again one day but you wont. You’ll run off with your hammock like its a mistress and have the best sleep of your night. I don’t even much care for my bed anymore. I miss my old simple camping days when nights in the woods were supposed to be uncomfortable and home was sanctuary. Hammocks are like some new dimension, nothing makes sense anymore.
@calvinmientke35395 жыл бұрын
Step #1 to hammock camping! Locate 2 sturdy trees about 4 farmer paces apart in your yard. My yard has NO trees, the neighbor's lot has trees too far apart!!!! It makes it difficult to practice set up. I'm a gunna get out a post hole digger and "plant" my own trees, darn it!

Bears and dragons can tear through a tent as easily as a hammock, realistically. I wouldn't call one more secure than the other. That being said, I'm still using tents because I prefer not having to worry about finding a hang spot if i end up in a field and I like having more room to spread things out to dry overnight in the tent. I know this is a year late but I made my gear sling by getting a cheap hammock of them world wide interwebs for about 15$, then cut it in half. I whipped the ends, added some paracord to them, and had one for me and one for the missus. They are just big enough to fit our backpacks and anything I may want in the middle of the night I just set on top of the backpack. Keeps the hammock uncluttered but still provides storage. For my shoes I use an S-biner through the pull tabs and hang them off the suspension line at the foot end. Easy-Peasy and a super cheap solution. Hopefully this will help someone to save some money where they can to spend more where it matters.

Thanks for the side-sling review, I was wondering if you could stuff a winter top quilt in there. Now I know that I can. Do larger items in the side-sling push against your underquilt and compress the down? I use a Dutch water bottle holder on the highest external chameleon attachment points (foot end) to hold my quilt stuff sacks, and other bags. Always know where they are when I’m packing up.

I'll use a ridgeline organizer, but not the bag style. It's webbing loops that I can clip everything on to with whatever size clips or S-biners I want to use.
