I had a teenage client who had bad grades. I had to make phone calls to his home to check on him. His mother would always add a "J" to any month that ended in "uary".......I had to call her every week of January and hear her say "Janjuary"...every week of February and hear her say "Febjuary"...she couldn't say library to save her life ..it was "lieberry." Couldn't say milk...it was "meurk." No matter how many times and how sweetly I tried to say the words correctly for her in casual conversation, she would just ignore my efforts and keep on saying those words her own way. It wasn't long until I understood why her son was a client of mine...in his mind he was saying his words right, it was the world that was wrong...all he was demonstrating was that which he learned at home. It was at that moment I realized that every man should ask any woman he is interested in to read him a bedtime story...if she struggles with Mary had a little lamb...your kids by her will endure a life and death struggle with reading comprehension. Home is the first school...and mom is the first teacher. Govern yourself accordingly gentlemen. I strongly recommend refraining from any "extracurricular" activities with any female until you are able to ascertain that she can navigate her way through a Red Lobster menu.

For the longest time I thought my Uncle in law's name was Urine, bcuz that's what my mother-in-law called him, I was confused but I never questioned it (bcuz I was new to this family), then my Uncle in law passed away. It was at his funeral, reading his obituary, that I found out the man's name was Ewing!! 👀

I have lots of family members whose names were/are mispronounced and I didn't realize it was incorrect until I was an older teenager. My favorite one was my Uncle "Ebit". I always thought it was a weird name, I didn't know his name was Edward. He got that name because that is how he pronounced his name when he was a little boy. "Ebit" fit him better than Edward though 🙃.

I know several people that say Way lover there instead of Way over there. Worser, hurted, tooken, squoze 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ In my house, improper english wasn't tolerated and was corrected by a "what did you just say"? and sometimes a pop in the mouth. My parents paid good money for my brother and I to get a good education; as well as being further educated at home. Some people pick up things that they hear in their household and they were never corrected. Then you have some that just have a lazy tongue and get offended when they're corrected. Education is some important, especially when bringing lives into the world. They have to have something and someone to lookup to. Ignorance and illiteracy is a choice. We can do better if we want. You don't have to be a product of your environment
