In this video, we are checking out the Shure BLX Wireless System. This will cover either the BLX4, BLX4R, or BLX88 receiver, as well as the wireless for handheld microphones, wireless for guitar/bass/instruments, or a lav mic or headset mic. Overall, the BLX is a fantastic entry-level wireless system that I definitely recommend if you are interested in taking the plunge into the world of wireless.

Been going down the rabbit hole of your wireless videos. Great breakdowns. Thanks! I was curious your opinion. I have the BLX4/pg58. I need two cordless mics for my shows. So I was going to upgrade to a better dual system, but then I won another single wireless in a contest.😂🎉 my question is if I put the two together, side-by-side, being that the blx4 is lower quality with no antennas, do you think I will end up with interference?

Thank you so much bro great review, so five years ago i bought the same model for worship six mics to be exact and only recently i have been experiencing a few problems. 1 of the mics keep turning off whenever i turn it on, i turn it on and it just switches off on fully recharged batteries (same brand you suggested). 2 the other mic sometimes it turns red again on full charged batteries. Third question i have is what is the lifespan of these model and how can i service them. also what precautions should i mind just to increase its lifespan.

You should be able to message Shure and get it repaired. I’ve done that before and my singer has as well. It takes a little while, but they are good with repairs. I haven’t had that happen to mine, so I’m not sure what it could be. But Shure has good customer service and would be able to help 👍

Just decided to upgrade from the cheap plug-n-plays and ordered the BLX14R with antennas. I have been using the Ammoon 5.8g with really good results but have not found a suitable back-up that has worked for my setup. My band is booking more shows this year so I knew it was time to upgrade. The 500mhz range should work well with our other 900mhz and 5.8g wireless gear.

Hi! I have a question and I was wondering if you could help me with your recommendation. I currently have the Shure BLX14 H10 guitar wireless system. I’ve had it for a year now and recently I’ve been having issues with it. I’m a dancing violinist and I usually step away from my set up during gigs especially when I play at big venues. I had a gig this past weekend and it was the worse it’s ever been. It was a backyard party and when I would step a little bit away from my set up the volume would significantly get lower then all of a sudden the volume would return to normal and this would happen back and forth. It would also cut out when I stepped pretty far away from the wireless. I know it’s not a cable issue or a battery issue because I have a new backup cable and I tried it with that one and I tried changing the batteries and it still did the same thing. My question would be if you think I need to upgrade my wireless since the one I have you mentioned is only for small spaces not for using at big venues or concerts. Or what your recommendation on the matter would be. I move a lot when I play I like to go into the audience where people are sitting at venues and interact with them so I’m usually not close to my set up. I’ve been watching your videos and these wireless systems stood out to me and was wondering if any of these would be a good option or which ones you would recommend. 1. Shure BLX4R (Because it has the detachable antennas but would it be good for big venues?) 2. Shure QLXD14 Wireless Guitar System - G50 Band (Pro Level) 3. Senheiser EW100 or 500 (Your favorite / would it be good for big venues?) Thank you for your time!

I've had nothing but problems with the dual blx dropping out. But 6 sm58s so 3 units, 1 Sennheiser lapel. Stationary in house system, hate the thing. The issue is probably more to do with noisy environment and the bands of the units but still no tools on board to figure it out had to use an antenna and spec ann to figure it out.

Thank you for your insightful video. I followed your advice and went for a BLX4R system with antennas. My question is, if I wanted to use it along with bluetooth speaker for presentations and take advantage of the battery powered speaker that allows me to place it at a distance from the the BLX station, do you have any suggestion for connecting both wirelessly? Hi! Great video :) I’m just wondering, would you really recommend the sm58 wireless over the pg58? Does the SM58 sound as warm and bright wireless as it does wired? I can’t figure out if all the letters and numbers (S8/T11 etc) after mean much, and their all pretty similar or which would be the best to go with if the sm58 really is much better to go with? I read the sm58 is ‘a bit flatter in the mid-range while the pg58 is brighter and has more presence’ - would you agree or disagree on this?! Also, please tell me these mics don’t have a handling noise? 😊
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
The sm58 capsule will sound the same on any wireless. The quality of the audio doesn’t change from system to system. I’m not as in depth with the tone analysis… to me it’s “does it sound good? Then use it.” To me I like the beta 87, which you need to get an Slx or QLX or ULX to get those. I will say, even though I’m not as picky on tone, even I hear a difference from the pg58 to the sm58. The pg58 has a lot of handling noise

The only thing I didn't understand my friend is if there were better models for different areas I bought the j11 model and went to the shure frequency finder... and I was only limited to three mics to channel when some of the other models had up to 9 or 10 I wonder if I made a mistake buying the j11 frequency model for the Colorado area.... I would always only be using the system with just me and one wireless microphone system that's it.

does all System 10 Mic Transmitters have the complete band range of H9, H10, H11 & J11 (meaning, all in one) or do they just have 1 Band and must be specifically compatible with the band of the Receiver?
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what “system 10 mic transmitters” means. But if you have a H9 receiver, you need a H9 transmitter. If you have a J11 receiver, you need a J11 transmitter, etc 👍
@jsa-tg3ht
@jsa-tg3ht 2 жыл бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for the reply ... but to make sure i really got it right, if i have the "H9 unit", the mic that came with the unit cannot be used by someone who has an H10 receiver ... or if i want a body pack, it must be specifically for H9 (and not H10 and others) btw, forgot to mention previously, your video was really helpful to me ...
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic 2 жыл бұрын

@@ScottUhlMusic Excellent video.. Thanks.. I have a BLX4-J10 receiver (584-608 MHz), I need a compatible bodypack and it seems this band is not available anymore because I don't see this option when trying to buy in amazon. What can I do? Can I use a J11 (596-616MHz) ?
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
@@genuimentor You would have to sync it up manually, but I would NOT recommend that because now you only have 596-608Mhz as options. I would look online for a used J10 receiver. There are quite a lot of them on Reverb and Ebay. You SHOULD go the same band for transmitter and receiver
