The SHURE SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response appropriate for music and speech in all professional audio applications. It features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum generated by computer monitors, neon lights, and other electrical devices. In addition to its standard windscreen, it also includes the A7WS windscreen for close-talk applications. The Shure SM7B is an industry standard dynamic microphone. It has been the flagship of Shure’s dynamic mic product line for years, and has a reputation for being a go-to studio mic for numerous sources, including vocals.

Do you need a cloudlifter or FETHEAD in order to use this mic with the interface for recording singing vocals?

No, but the audio has a massive difference if your microphone supports the fethead/cloudlifter. There is literally no background noise.

Great videos. Do you have a suggestion between the Apollo twin and the Rodecaster pro 2 as you’ve reviewed both? I have the Rodecaster pro 2 and I swear I sound like I have an exaggerated echo. So just curious if you found any difference between the two?

I do have suggestions, but first would want to know this: what do you plan on using them for? If voiceover/production, then i'd say UAD. If for podcasting or live streaming, probably the RCP. They're not far away from each other in quality (Apollo does seem to be a little higher, but also obviously more costly) but you'd be happy with either one to be honest.

@@HomeStudioPro I’m doing KZbin and course creation mostly. I’m a web designer and looking to educate people. The RCP2 is nice for the Unity and being able to bring in phone guests. But I will not use the smart pads really. I’m using a shure sm7b to cloudlifter to dbx286 to scarlet 2:2, it works, but I have a tough time with my Unity levels. I always appreciate your content.

Brody, if you were to add a little bit more bass in this chain, where and how would you do it?

prolly on the ssl console. he was boosting at around 100 hz, you can just boost a bit more. But be aware that you have to have bass signals in the file you want to boost ;) if you have a very high voice, or recorded pretty far away from the mic, you will likely have no bass to boost. you can check that on a eq if you aren't sure. The bass you want is around 80-120hz id guess.
