I hope there is a future update that adds like a tier 5 item(s) where the only way to get (most) them is to complete like a set of items in the shop. Like for instance, lets say they add an item called like Treasure Chest that works like a Bag but gives like 50 or 100 material per item pick up, but the only way to get it in the shop is by buying all 3 bags first then having enough luck to run across it in the shop or a red chest. They could also add a chance for a gold chest (I would assume the next item rarity would be gold) from 1 boss on level 40 or 50 if you have the sets. One caveat might be for some set items that have a lot like the monkey or metal detector, the chances of getting the gold item would start at like set of 5 or so and the chance to get it doubles every certain amount. IDK sounds like a fun concept for OP items that take a lot of work, resources, and luck.

The main argument I’ve seen against the mod is it takes away from the suspense on what you get and dealing with what you get which is exactly the same as resetting over and over which had been happening for ever so really it’s just making content less gruelling and repetitive to make helping dex not get tired out and experience burnout

As someone who was also interested in a run like this and tried it myself, I'm not sure if Dex will go for it because it breaks the game far too quickly. Like you literally completely break the economy before you even unlock the red items in the shop. You can first buy one non-cursed corrupted shard to "justify" buying cursed versions of items if you want. From now assume every item is bought cursed. Wave 1+ is as many fertilizers as you can afford until you can buy five cursed coupons in one go, after which everything gets thrown into more fertilizers Wave 4+ is three starfishes + a black flag + five mouses + ten gentle aliens + three hunting trophies + two geckos + ten metal detectors + a crown, a piggybank, a recycling machine and three maps. Took me six waves to completely break the game, I had 3607 materials in the wave 7 shop with basically nothing to buy lol

I've been hoping you would use shop mod just to get a fish hook ever since the captains sword run! You should do this for a few characters, excited to see how broken they can get with an early hook.

@Dex If you have a cursed mirror, you can buy all the unique items at a reduced price. The cursed mirror will give a discount and because unique items are just 1, you can buy it at reduced price without breaking the mirror. This also has a snowball effect if you go endless, eventually prices will become so high that you cant buy them. But you'll still get mirrors and sometimes cursed mirrors in crates. They will reduce the prices of items and if you have +5 or +6 cursed mirrors, the item prices of all items, including those you get in crates will be reduced to 1. Even if you are on wave 300. or 1000. So essentially you could lock up items you really want to get, have a cursed mirror locked aswell. And then buy that very expensive item mutilplied by how many mirrors you have (the most I ever did was x10 vigilance rings x10 leafs x10 the red item that increases explosion dmg and range). that run i ended up quitting cause i got bored, but i havent been able to replicate that run with the crazy stats I had. man I had an all time build going and got touched by one mob at stage 51 and died. I get the tardigrade deal and i do think it's the only way. but i had mega cursed nukes and all 3 spicy sausage. missed out on the cursed garden speed and hoodie. 700+hp nearly 200 armor. took the bloody hand shortly after axiotal and had 1700 ranged... even then I had like 14 layers... i was running to damn fast and touched a mob. everything cursed and i mucked it all up... you're a goat dex. (no mods xbox version)

Renegade with Javelin's is also pretty fun as another ranged weapon that scales with melee damage & you don't need to worry about crit plus Primative is realy nice early on. It's also really fun if you get the Clam or whatever it is that makes your 5th projectile get +2 projectiles on Renegade, jet get all the projectiles.

Hey Dex, can I suggest what I call the "Evil Dead" run? an Evil Dead run is very simple: One arm, double barreled shotgun (aka boomstick). If you want to, you can jump to the chainsaw later. If you can, get the Bloody Hand. The double damage modifiers make the shotgun damage scale up very quickly (with an uncursed bloody hand every point of life steal is worth 4% damage), and the shotgun can work well for both crowd control (spread and penetration means that you are doing serious anti horde damage) and anti boss (point blank so all pellets hit, you can melt large targets). Groovy.

Javelin is also pretty busted and helps you get further into endless because of the melee scaling to offset base damage scaling. If you forget about the lucky coin you can also take every negative crit item which really boosts your other stats and still get a crit every second shot at a ridiculous speed by the time you get to endless. Fun run to do for a break when I start struggling with clearing danger 5 with one of my weaker characters. Up there almost with Loud for an easy danger 5 win.

Slingshot are the best starting weapon in the game followed closely by Shuriken. I hope they never nerf them. Though TBH I expect the pearls to be nerfed HARD. One thing that I would like to see - if the player gets to a weapon loadout they are happy with, and then choose to take the Knot; then the player should never see another weapon in the shop. I don't know how many people actually take the knot; so it's not like that would be game-breaking.

Can you play a late game run using the plasma accelerator with building up as much %damage as possible to then use the axolotl converting it to elemental damage. It works really great when you curse the elemental damage/engineering scaling while also converting your elemental damage to engineering.

They really need to stop using sprites for the projectiles I think and switch over to using shader based rendering for them. The lag is kindof a joy killer. I say this as a developer, but not one that has done a lot of game programming, so I could be totally wrong.

The most broken item in the game is not the pearl, it's the starfish. Three cursed starfishes are equal to two and a half Louds, not even the infinite damage can compare with that amount of money

@@DexTag double the money also means double every other item in the game tho, including the pearls. The maximum amount of pearls you get is unchanged, of course, but you get more stuff earlier and cheaper. It's basically the spy glass and the coupon rolled into one item

So looking at it, I would guess your projectiles have the same limitations as the enemies. As in: The game only allows a certain amount of them on the screen at a time. Just like the game only allows a certain amount of enemies at the same time, no matter if you kill them or not.

I think it's just a flag in the save file, it does that for most things. So no matter how many times I got the item, it just kept activating said flag, and I probably overwrote the "+3 every shot" with a "+3 every 5th shot", so that's why it felt like it was less

This is a bit of a problem isn't it: You need certain items to not get burned out and have fun, but it's behind rng. Seems like a core part of the game at that point, ergo should it be based on rng. My opinion, the fishhook mechanic needs a bit of rework.

The videos wouldve been nice, i was really eager to watch a good Renegade run, but this addig whatever item i like stuff really took the usual the joy out of it. It really killed everything i liked about tze previous videos, and Brotato itself. I prefer the vanilla runs, Its like having an StS video, and addig a Corruption, Barricade, Dead Branch and FnP on floor 5. Ofc you are gonna win after that, whats the point playing it out. The hooks was bad, but addig cursed trophies was the final nail in the coffin

This run feels a bit too cheaty, the hooks were fine but then also grabbing the economy items feels a bit hollow. Maybe focus on rolling with 4 slots open instead of locking the first semi okay item you find

That's totally fine, not everyone will like that. I actually thought a lot of people turned off since I've seen a bunch of comments, but surprisingly the watch time is actually 25% higher on this video compared to similar length ones. But yea, I like mixing things up with a bias towards what I feel is right, so modded videos like these here will just happen from time to time
