New to tft so correct me if im wrong but, does it really make a difference whether you have full items or components for the scrap units? Wouldnt you rather choose which item you get than gamble on what item they upgrade to?

It depends on the situation but putting down more components means you get more items. You could build 1 full item and put down one component or put down 3 components and get 3 possibly good items, especially when you get to 6 scrap and you get lucky items so basically you always get items that fit your units role and won't be useless like for example a nashors on trundle or steraks on corki
