Neither being a housewife or being a maid is a matter of shame. Both are service providers in families and many people would not be able to do a thing about them.

Being a housewife is much more than that. Doing the household chores and cooking for the kids and the person you love. Housewives need to be respected. Of course along with maids. Edit : I feel bad for the people replying in this comment section who believe job is the only thing based on which a person should be respected. EVERY profession, including housewives who actually work on their family and house to maintain it beautifully should be praised. My grandma was a housewife but she LITERALLY built her family of a rather timid and pushover (and sexist) husband and three daughters, raised them by her own strength, then had to face the horror of losing two of those three in different incidents and yet raised me. There's a reason why I'll NEVER take housewives lightly. She's my inspiration.

As a young teenage girl I always thought that i would never do a housework (I didnt see it respectfully) my grandparents always used to taunt my mother that she do nothing. They used to force her to work on the fields . My mom couldn't live peacefully in our house. She was forced to move out nd start small businesses, open her Parlour nd manage House as well so that she could find peace there. . As I grew up I realized where my biasness is coming from. Now I see housework as a most respectfull job. In fact I believe one person should stay in house nd other should work. It is called a balance sadly which is going away these days. But the harsh truth is that deep inside girls know that fact that nobody will respect them or acknowledge them for staying nd taking care of house.. I still believe in this thought process that one should stay in home ( be it men or women) nd the one who stays at home and create positive environment should get the same respect as the other who goes to earn income. These days both men and women are hustling I live alone in my home both of my parents work. I would always want my mother to stay with us. I know the situation of my house there is no peace. Everyone contributes in housework (my father, mother, me nd my younger brother) as there no single person stays at home. But there is always a sense of instability which I felt in my home.

I have changed four jobs in life. Including a job at a prestigious bank, that required me to commute to work for about 90 minutes, one side. I am a Stay at home mom (because we have resources and we can afford it). Doing household chores and bringing up a kid, is the most difficult job, compared to all other jobs i worked. It's Non Stop, repetitive, boring and doesn't offer fulfilment. Now, if i expected my husband to do all this (he supports me everyday, doing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, i never touch trash) If i expected him to do everything (and there is a lot), he will be burnt out and i will be too. We live peacefully, find time to love, pull each other's leg about various chores and have a happy home.

mujhe ladki ki baat mai kuch point lagta hai. I agree ki apne maa and grandma ne housewife rahke bahut mehnat ki hai before marriage and after marriage. But aajkal there are many girls which I know jo kuch padai bhi nahi karti because they understand ki badiya ladka mil hi jayega(as most of them are beautiful) and ghar ka kaam bhi nahi karti because unki mummy khud housewife hai. I met them through various arrange marriage meetings, mujhe to yahi laga ki ambition nahi hone ki wajah se unhe finance, politics, science kisi ka bhi itna knowledge and interest dono nahi rahta aur mostly time gossip karne mai hi jyada time spend karte hai. Not generalizing but mostly mujhe to yahi laga, Jab koi ladki job karti hai padai mai mehnat karti hai, to usse bahut kuch sikhna padta hai.

She chose a life of hardships or she is having a life of hardships is her own issue, and undermining the contribution of a women who is actually a good housewive/homemaker, is cheap from this girl's side. It is actually underrated how greatly housewives contribute to the household, raising kids and looking after the husband. It is a humungous task and must not be disrespected. Being an independent woman is very important, but I realise how underrated the job of a housewife is . Growing up I had my mother by my side all the time and I wonder how drastically different it would be if she was a working woman . She raised us with abundance and was so selfless. Losing your own individuality for your kids is not healthy. But the kids deserve the love , care and emotional support of their mother . One must fulfill their responsibilities. Being a woman is such a divine thing and not offering the feminity to thw world that it needs is not justified. Life needs balance ❤️

There are real criticisms to being housewife, such as not being allowed to have a break, having to work even when you are suck, having to ask permission to go to your parents' house, no help from husband in the endless chores, being vulnerable to abuse from his family and him and not being able to leave cause you are financially dependent on him. This woman clearly doesn't know how bad it is. Such surface level bs. My dad cheated on my mom for years, even after I was born. His family encouraged the bs and they are all still abusive af to my mom. She couldn't leave cause she was not financially independent. That is the most important reason to get a job, to be able to make your own decisions and not depend on others. I'm terrified of getting married because of how trashy most men I've met are (most are government servants, so obviously their wives won't even get support if they try to leave), but that doesn't mean that being a housewife is inherently bad. It's a good life if you get good enough in laws and husband who understands you are his equal, not beneath him.

But she deliberately is making the choice to work hard and slave away compared to a life of comfort and relaxation. And I'm not saying that being a housewife is easy. It has its own struggles like taking care of kids and dealing with grandparents. But she cannot complain because she herself made that choice to go through with college and not settle down.

Shwetabh, I think you missed the point by a huge margin. So here's where you went wrong: 1. Being a housewife DOES NOT quantify to anything really, not even to the economy (please present an evidence for your economy contribution statement otherwise its just misleading). When a significantly large chunk of 50% of the population decides to stay home, it's counter productive. Women are needed in STEM sectors, and THAT would significantly add to the economy and the society and overall growth of a nation. 2. When a woman decides to stay at home, she simply becomes a consumer or indulges in consumerist mentality. Doing housework is no big deal, stop making it that. In China, woman contribute to the labor force significantly and both men and women look after the family and homes together while preserving the family system. 3. First you say looking down on housewives is a western concept and then you say calling them maid is an Indian concept. Make up your mind dude. Either ask people to be global or indian. For God's sake make up your mind and stop acting like the chic who can't decide where she wants to go on a date. 4. Promoting housework puts forward a wrong impression to younger women in similar ways being an IG model sends a wrong message to younger women. Making them think that there is always a safe route of escape which brings down the stake of their existence and their activities. There are no indicators or yard stick that tells how an organised home or home management looks like as a house is a personal/private affair and no one is gonna come and see to determine if the house is smoothly working or not. Its a different case if you say that the job of being a home maker falls under the unorganised sector. It is counter productive. 5. The Idea of taking pride in being a wife doing housework (which is to be shared equally by both men and women) is a really misogynist concept and sets a wrong precedence for women who really want to study and work outside home and have ambitions. The same concept can be put to the other end of the spectrum where IG models who shows tits and ass earns more money by objectifying themselves than the ones who study their ass off to become something and earn a living while preserving their dignity. 6. Home maker is an outdated concept and puts a lot of pressure to earn on men. In Indian context, the income is going down while the consumption is sky rocketing, only one member of the nuclear family bringing home the income puts the family in danger of going broke. This is not the 80s or 90s where income was higher than the consumption (and hence out fathers and mothers could successfully run on one person income) as there were not many avenues or need to spend money. 7. We need more quality doctors, engineers, architects, scientists, economists, teachers and business professionals and not so surprisingly, we have a large pool of people who are women, who could be put to use for all that. RUNNING A HOUSE IS SUCH A BARE MINIMUM THING. By glorifying home making you also enable the patriarchal mentality of the society that "shaadi karle, tera dhyaan rakhegi". Abhi tak mummy dhyaan rakhti ayi hai (senior bai) ab ek aur bewakoof ko ghar le aa (junior bai). 8. Bhai, jis ladki ko kuch aur nhi aata and she was trained at home to be a wife, uska to theek hai. She doesn't have a degree or education. But if you're receiving higher education just to become a housewife later, to please don't waste the university seats by applying to it. Ghar pe baitho, kitchen me raho, education lene ki koi zarurat nhi hai.

I agree with most the things you said you but as you stated yourself that the happiness of the woman goes down after the kids are born, and the work she is doing is not going to be recognised by the society and sadly also her family as "important" so I think they should definitely strive to be independent in some sort of way. If not for the family then at least her own sake. In society girls are often discouraged from picking up difficult jobs because they have to get married and have kids later in life that later leads them to be extremely dependent on the husband which leads to very unequal power dynamics in the family specially during important decision making instances. This can be extremely traumatic in some cases pushing the women even further downward. So do I think that housework is extremely important and vital to the proper functioning of the family unit and should never be belittled like the girl did, it definitely should not be glorified in society for future generations. What you said might fully apply in a perfect world but not this unfortunately.

A woman can handle a 8-10 hours job per day with parenting their child (after the kids are old enough and are going to school) while the housework can be shared between the two or outsourced to a professional/servant. Infact she might even be a better mother when she alone doesn't have the burden of whole housework.

I think that girl was not shaming on housewives. Our mothers are housewives and we respect them a lot. There nothing to be ashamed of that. The point that she is trying to bring is that these women who failed in studies and had zero goals in life are having paris trips on husband’s money and they should not be respected. And I agree with this fact because these women are not housewives. An average working woman does more household chores than these wives of Rich husbands. They have got maid, cook and what not services at their house. On the contrary, an average working woman of india, let it be a cop or a doctor or an engineer does her job and takes care house and children as well. I am not in support of shaming any woman. But I definitely believe in respecting a working woman more because she puts food on the table for family. She neglects her physical and mental health for her family. This is the message that this girl was trying to give.

in upper middle class house holds(as said by the girl that they are enjoying paris maldives etc) housewife have close to no work as the cleaning and dishes are taken care by the maid and their only task is to take care of the baby which they send to schools for 6 hr and then coching for 2 hr and for the rest of the time they give them phone and laptops so all in all they take care of baby for very little time rest of the times they are busy with their kitty parties and tv shows and now insta reels. They do close to no work for providing for the family and nail on the coffin is they cant even take care of themselves for their own tasks such as documents updation and bank related things which either their husbands or their male child if he is grown enough takes care of. They view which you were coming form is perfectly applied to middle class and lower middle class house holds and i cant even talk about poor ones and what their females go through . But what the girl was talking about is upper or upper middle class which i somewhat agree with but not everything like the last lines or the grades thing.

isn't this what Sonali Kulkarni also implied just wrapping it in a better language? I've seen so many families looking for women who will be housewives or maybe "school teachers" so that they can give enough time for their family. A lot of men desire the same. Especially after becoming mothers, you realize that "mothering" is a full-time job and it's painful to cut that short and outsource it partially to a babysitter so that you can go earn money from another full-time job that you hate. you also realize the privilege of being able to hire a babysitter, who also happens to be a mother leaving her kids behind with some non-earning member of her family which could be her mom, or her sister-in-law whatever. The truth is, a house doesn't just run on its own. kids don't grow up on their own. certain things in life can't be automated or outsourced, not without losing its quality. Even with a 6-fig salary the food on my platter isn't half as good in nutritional value or in taste as it was when I was young. My house isn't half as pretty as my mom kept it despite the fact that i have a full-time house help now. what a housewife does for her family is priceless. Yes, I'm envious of the sense of security they have, in not earning for themselves. The onus of giving her the sense of security is on her husband and her family. to not make her feel useless just because she isn't earning money. I'm sure, this lady's jealousy also somehow stems from such insecurities.

We have 3 house-helpers coming to our house everyday to do the basic chores, yet my mumma has to work continuously from 6:30 in the morning. She has vericose in her legs from standing such long hours every single day. It's because of my mumma that all of us in our family are able to do everything that we want to do, 'cause we know that mumma's taking care of everything else. The rest of us have to go to offices, yet we try our best that we help her in any way possible, that's because we know, we understand her role in our lives and we know that it's impossible for us to even exist without her. My mum didn't go to her parents house for five years, because both my brother and I had our tutions even during vacations, so she knew that if she goes away, our studies would get hampered. She has sacrificed so much for us, and I don't think any of us would ever be able to repay her for what she has done for us and continues to. Actually it would be a shame to even try to repay her. Thank you so much Shwetabh bhai for making this video and putting the points in such a powerful way. Except few things I somewhat agree to her though..don't waste your talent ..what if the husband loses his job or dies or Mets with an accident... suddenly for the women working for the family with no skills developed over the years will be so difficult and losing your job is common these days..these women definitely regret later that they did nothing outside the household chores..I'm not saying like a radical feminist or something that I must be independent or I don't need a man..a women will always need a man but the confidence you get when your doing something on your own is something different.Their sasural wale will somehow always give her more respect of the women doing something and it's a fact just look around you...housewives surely not maids because managing house is most difficult and tiring job to do but woh to working women bhi krte hi dono sambhalti hai woh bhi bahut accha se but looking at the post it seems like they marry only to have a luxurious life on husband's money..I have tons of examples like this around my house who are not independent but regret it as they have to beg everytime to their husband even to buy a biscuit

In this generation all individuals must be financially independent not because of any empowerment but just to standardize their life , every man wants to reduce the burden of father and every girl wants to stand out and take care of family....if the man earning and women wants to help him then what's wrong in that ....if for some reason any one fails for sometime the other one will hold the rope. Isme feminism kaha se aaya?? And being a house maker is no where less then any cooperative job but then society doesn't value that. A man and women both should earn... should complement...should value ....should help in home....should raise the children togather ....should keep the family happy...and ignore those those nasty comments but society,....period! I being myself would never want my family to eat food cooked by a cook.... I believe in working out and also balancing out family really well.

I am not gonna completely blame this woman. I remember watching a podcast of shwetabh with salil jamdar where he said something like women who presents such arguments in the shadow of feminism might be coming from a very just place. Maybe her argument have wrong points but what she is saying even unjustly so can be coming from a past experience. Obviously how she demeaned housewives wasn't right but somewhere along the lines i feel she is kinda right about the self dependent stuff. A working woman can support herself and be independent. I have seen such marriages in my family and around me where the husband casually says that his wife is nothing without him. Saying stuffs like "she will be helpless if something happens to him". The writer's jealousy and all those comments she made on housewives completely defeated her purpose of writing this post.

Hello Swetabh sir, Thanks for making this video. House work is a voluntary full time job and a housewife should be respected. Even a maid should be respected. Being a boss bi*t*h is BS. Because in corporate job, we should be compliant with boss. From my limited experience, I believe that - 1. A woman should be employable. Because, a woman could be in an abusive marriage and being financially dependent on a man can be very restrictive to leave that marriage 2. Even if it's a happy marriage, the couple should be prepared for the worst - if the husband falls sick/dies, the woman should be able to support the household financially. 3. Similarly, a man should also be able to manage house work if the wife/mother falls sick. So, it's beneficial if a man knows cooking/cleaning. In short, earning income and house work is gender neutral. 4. Dual income can make retirements/savings more relaxed. 5. Even if a family is stable and the wife is not working (which is ok), doing some voluntary/social work outside can give a person a lot of exposure.

mujhe ladki ki baat mai kuch point lagta hai. There is good reason ki why these type of girls are more confident generally then former.

L take shwetabh bhai, i don't interpret the post like bashing house makers, but as bashing trophy wives who could not accomplish anything in their lives and are now enjoying / going on foreign trips on their husbands money / ancestral wealth , while "working" as a house wife is absolutely exhausting, we can see many many girls who "surrender" to be a house wife (with multiple house helps) , because they have the luxury to do that, as a man , i don't have that luxury, i can't just say f it and relax ..... women want men to share the house load but (realistically) how many women want to share the risk os providing for the family unconditionally and without fail ,how many women actually want a equal partner (not some one with more wealth than them)

@@b-6870 so? The world is unfair. Complaining doesn't get you anywhere. That guy must have sacrificed so much to be able to earn that much money to support a luxury life for two people. Can't the girls who choose a life other than housewives do the same? Or do they want it served to them on a platter. It's a simple thing. Your actions have consequences. If you choose to get married at a very young age. And live a life of luxury with servants to take care of your children and housework. And relieve you of any real work. That might sound good on paper. But in reality you're also giving up your freedom to a certain extent. And have to entertain your husbands request and he'll be the one who's usually going to be making the decisions. As compared to a woman who slaves away at work all day long and comes home tired. But she doesn't have to get ready for someone. She has actual freedom in her life. To do however and whatever she pleases. Whether it's eat a full ice cream tub till 4AM in the night. Both lifestyles come with their own pros and cons. And it's up to the individual to make the choice for themselves what matters more to them.

I disagree, apart from degrading housework she is right, in India we had gaslighted mothers to next level to do housework , she is totally dependent on us , yes we do love her but just imagine a situation when your father cheated on her, is she able to resist hard, there are several instances in rural parts where womens suffer domestic voilence and kept quiet bcz she has never able to develop his own independent identity separate from his husband and family, money plays important role in anybody independent existent, doing housework is everybody responsibility but thinking that you don't have to earn anything and other person will provide everything without taking anything in return is nonsense. This is the root reason for male dominated

let me tell argumentatively what you did: a) called ALL HUMAN WOMEN POPULATION that register as mothers = morons (epic start for forming your arguments) b) took the worst case and most extreme examples, pieced them together, thereby selectively 'creating' the worst conditions to suit your argument c) if your argument was any where even close to the majority reality, humanity would have been suffering on a level that almost every child born would have had ptsd or c-ptsd d) this video had nothing to do with: should women be educated (yes they should 100%), should women have choices to do what they want with their lives? (yes because they are humans), should women have all human choices in a nutshell (YESS) but you made it so because the cues (women, housework, feminism) in the video triggered all your biases which as topics are not even talked about, challenged, or questioned. e) lastly, human, your arguments are brutally simple. There are MULTIPLE factors behind the things you have mentioned, a lot of which will take time to solve. f) we live in a country where the laws dominantly favor women to ensure their safety against violence or abuse g) are there problems? 100% but this video is talking about specific topic. Several other videos of mine address those problems too.

Every glittering is not a gold. Just because they seem to be happy currently, we cannot assume the relationship is all okay. I am going to expose the dark sides of such fairytales with an autopsy to get to the root of such relationships. It is simply based on the exchange of sex and money. The longevity of those things that usually make us happy can't be guaranteed. The spark in such relationships will be vanished once the sexual attraction fades away. I have some simple questions for those relationships glorifiers including Shwetabh- 1) After getting failed in her carrier, what's the easiest way to get money for a luxurious life for a girl? 2) How will you perceive the relationship where the girl gets married to a man for money? What kind of positivity will a girl bring to the environment where she herself married for money? That fake toxic positivity? 3) Just check the TV serials that are broadcast in the afternoon. At what level do they pollute our mind and how dumbly are they scripted. How can a human being with a 60+ IQ watch such serials? Aren't House wives the targeted audiences for these kinds of low IQ serials? 4) You said that life's value can't be measured in a capitalistic manner to which I agree. But ask those failed house wives whether they had asked their fiance's salary before marriage or not? 5) If a girl doesn't earn her own livelihood then she will definitely expect from her husband. You are talking about the values of life but fail to acknowledge that love doesn't have any expectations!!! The same girl will show the real Colour of her love once he doesn't earn. 6) Maid is for House work and Nanny is for child care. Total cost 15/month at max. Ask Devi ji to get a job with 40k/ month. See how economically mature you are. 7) Minimum wages for maids and cooks can only be introduced to developed economies where salaries are also high. So please don't blend those economies with the Indian scenario. 8) You are trying to reverse the process!!! Just ask a successful girl to maintain a man who failed in his career? 9) You can't even forcefully ask your wife to do the house chores if she doesn't do it. But your maid has to. 10) Emotional support!!! What kind of support to take from a girl who is with you merely for your money? If you are yet to get emotional support from such a girl, you are an emotional fool. 11) Individualism is not at all capitalism. There are instances where men work their ass off to maintain their divorced wives as per the court's order in India. Doesn't it support consumerism and capitalism? 12) Materialism has eaten up Indian marriages more than the west. Don't you know what a jobless girl searches for a man when she goes for marriage and what a girl with a good career searches in a man ? 13) Definitely, that girl was jealous of her classmates. She should be pacified. But that doesn't mean we have to glorify those girls who don't do any struggle but just get married for money. Then no girl will work for a better career. 14) Have you ever seen a lady from a rich family sweeping the floors and washing utensils? If these house holds are so glorious, then why do women stop doing these with the increment in Husband's income? I admit that the girl is a little jealous. At the same time she is honest. Her jealousy should be pacified but not by glorifying those idle women who are sitting at home and completely thriving upon husbands' money. Unless more girls will be encouraged to marry without working upon their careers. The girl who wrote to Shwetabh is a true feminist. I noticed some toxic audience bashing feminism in the comment section however Feminism is a good idea but pseudo feminism isn't.

Females use it as a backup plan.. career nhi bana padhai nhi karni toh kya husband toh mil hi jayega... If female is good looking beautiful and has sexy body then why does she needs to work.. she will get husband... Morever ye jo complains females karte hai jaise ye text hai ye vhi karte hai jo ugly hote hai.. because they can't use their beauty so they have to work hard and establish their career.. so basically they are jealous
