I can't help but think the listener. is just sitting in front of her and not getting her hints at all. just Sitting with a dumb smile on their face and munching on the snacks. Thinking that's a really weird story she's telling. Basically just being incredibly dense. Like she's telling in the story.

Hmmm, I think it's a bit boring, there's no real drama, It's ok-ish for a romcom, but I don't think it's gonna be the greatest book ever written, at best a c-lister. it would be much better if you made the friend a guy who *appears* dense, but have a lot of baggage while interested, with him thinking "no way she *actually* wants to date *me,* she's just a good friend", and then have him think "no, if I try to make a move on her, she'll think I'm a creep, or I'm only after her body. Or both.". Also it would be great if she was so afraid of giving him straightforward signals, she were to say "I want to cuddle, you know *as a friend* ", also, you did a great job with that already, as "I wish I had a boyfriend like you" is every guy's worst nightmare. The mixed signals would make it make a *lot* sense, and as the dude isn't ignoring her all but confessing, but is ignoring her being VERY cuddly and flirtatious, but, you know, *as a friend* . Also some people may find catharsis in the pain of watching those characters spiraling. I think that could be a c or even b-list story. And as for her doing things wrong: Yeah. She is doing it wrong. She should sit him down and say "hey, I've been having these feelings for you, what do you think I should do with that", maybe after being a bit flirtatious to make him into her. Even if she doesn't consider his inner machinations, confessing is pretty hard, so she shouldn't make him do the emotional labour. I mean, he may have been the one to do it all the times before, she should be the one to go for it. You know, in the name of gender equality.
