The issue with Centigrade, was its also the general term for an hundred point scale, hence the change to Celsius. But it was certainly still confused when I was at school in the 80's with different teachers using the terms interchangeably, though as you don't recall marathon bars (which I was shocked by), maybe this had cleared up by the time you'd made it.

Until 1969 it was actually degree Kelvin. But since then it‘s only Kelvin.
