Sia is that person every Pop star should look up to. Pure, Clean, Dedicated, Hard working, and humble. She really pounds in the hammer that you don't have to be nearly naked to become successful in the music industry today. Lol, if i had her writing ability, my school essays would be a breeze. Stay Wonderful Sia:D
@laza86758 жыл бұрын
+Jamie Rose I dont think she illustrates the point you don,t have to be half naked. She illustrates the point women being judged for their apparence is very draining for them and reflects badly on their work, to the point where the choice for a telented woman was to hide herself rather than face this criticism. Just like half naked women, her choice reflects upon the undue pressure put on women's appearance by society, She made the clever choice for herself by taking herself away from this game but what it shows is sad.
@laza86758 жыл бұрын
+Jamie Rose At the same time what she does might help - for once that people are juging a woman's work without being blinded by the specificities of her objectified face or else.
@ozzert8 жыл бұрын
+ Ss yp What part of his comment was degrading about other people's clothing? Nearly naked? If you spend an afternoon watching music videos that's most of what you'll see, so he just stated a fact. And shaming people? He didn't name anyone (which is kind of required for shaming, shaming anonymously doesn't work quite that well ;) ) His comment was about as nice as you can get it...
@ozzert8 жыл бұрын
+Ss yp I can't blame you for thinking I was triggered, reading my post back... appears much more aggressive than how I was feeling at that moment, so I apologise; I actually agree with the don't-shame-people-to-praise others thing, but mostly when it's like "she's so much better than ....". In this case, it's not even clear if he meant the other female artists themselves, or the music industry/society in general that makes female artists (think they have to) dress like that. Either way, I think it's sad, so hence my appreciation for another person who seemed to share my opinion, and therefore the 'need' to defend it :)
@ozzert8 жыл бұрын
+Ss yp "It's sad when a woman is forced to wear something she wouldn't have worn otherwise." That is specifically what I was talking about, the idea that they have to wear that, or otherwise they won't sell any music, it seems like an insult to their capabilities to me... but then again, my opinion on this subject isn't black and white either: three years ago I was defending the 'objectified' topless women in Robin Thicke's 'Blurred lines' video, because they seemed to enjoy themselves and the whole thing seemed rather harmless and playful to me... so the real question is: when did I get so conservative? ;)

She seems a little insecure about her image, which is completely normal, and she suffered from depression too. I kind love her more being like this, instead of doing the typical pop star diva thing, thinking she is fucking flawless and shoving it in our faces. (sorry about my english. not my native language)

The face hiding ISN'T a hard concept to grasp.. Unless someone goes looking for her face you don't see it... therefore she isn't well recognised, therefore she can go about in public fairly normally... For example people like Justin, Rhianna, Taylor etc are saturated by the media, you know what these people look like even if you don't like their music. I love Sia's music but I've never felt the need to look up what she looks like, therefore I could probably walk straight past her and never know.
@universe939 жыл бұрын
As an Australian I feel it's probably particularly important for her having grown up here to not be recognised in the US. Here in Oz, we have a few big celebrities like Russel Crowe who live here and live very normal lives because we don't go nuts over celebrities. About the only way to be a celebrity and not have people notice you in the US would be hiding your face.

I saw some comments on here saying she has a "facial deformation". This is not true. Here in Australia, Sia is the most respected singer song writer that has ever come out of this country. It's unbelievably hard to break the American music market. I'm glad she is so successful now. She's been famous in Australia since she was 22. Now only famous, on a pop level, globally at age 39. So she worked hard for it. The song that kicked off her career was "Breathe Me". Glad that we can call her an Australian musician. She's done our music industry proud.

It's still quite unfair how little recognition she actually gets for the songs she writes, and not a lot of people know she is behind so many hits in past years. She´s extremely talented.

Its worked to maker her famous. The thing is there ARE pictures of her face everywhere. At this point continuing to hide your face since everyone already knows what you look like actually seems like a publicity stunt and now in my opinion is just a bit odd and rude. Honestly though a LOT of artists would love to NOT have to show their face. i'm not getting any younger and honestly i'd prefer not to show mine. but sadly the industry in large cares so much about image I seriously doubt they would put up with it from most of us though i think a lot of musicians would prefer NOT to be seen. you'd be surprised I'm sure. The media machine and MTV screwed us all. I wish my music could just be about the music I guess I'm jealous. Good for her. Wish the rest of us could do the same.

I wouldn't call it rude, but I do think it's odd. I was a fan of Sia's music before "Chandelier" blew up, so to suddenly have people talking about this artist who never shows her face and doesn't like to face the audience while performing was bizarrely odd for me, especially when it all it takes is a youtube search of her Letterman appearance for "Soon We'll be Found" and a google search of past album art and it becomes obvious that's more than not true. She's even made face front appearances in old music videos. I dunno, maybe she figures, by and large this new fan base won't look for this stuff or care? Who knows.

Sia should be an example for all the people and the selfish artist who think that beauty is the most important thing in the world. They think they can shine just because the camera and fans will love them. Music is for ears, and was made for make us feel something, to show us there's another way of communicating. She has a lot of heart, talent, and that's worth for me.

The fact that Sia can sit there and honestly say that her life went from crap to good while crying says so much about her character. She doesn't act like shes perfect. She doesn't act like her life is perfect. She is genuine and raw. Her voice is not only amazing, but her performances are like a breath of fresh air without all of the coverups. I will always respect Sia for what she's done and for where she has come from. Any person that has had to fight for their own life/sanity will show their dedication through their talents. AND SHE'S ACTUALLY WEARING CLOTHES.

Because she has anxiety and can't cope being inform of cameras and crowds... Has turned to drugs when she got famous in 2007 cause she has anxiety and couldn't stand inform of cameras and people and she almost killed herself she even wrote a suicide note .. Chandelier is about that and the song that made her famous "breath me" is about her dead boyfriend
@SR-vu1cz10 жыл бұрын
Yes and it is not easy being famous because literally, artists can't have their own personal space. And also, given the pressure from the media, I understand why some artists had issues just like lindsay lohan. These people are humans too but yet people, especially the media, treat these people like shit.
@drgnrmy9 жыл бұрын
Did she say that? Because I have seen her perform several times going back to 2005 and have met her as well a few times. She always seemed very comfortable. Very quirky and outgoing.

i'm not gonna say she should or shouldn't show her face on camera... that's her personal decision... but maybe she could've interviewed with him "proper' and the camera could've just shot so it didn't show her face... just a thought! love her writing. don't know a ton of it but she's talented for sure. as someone in the public eye i do understand her reasoning too!

yea the interview was weird and she could have done what you suggested, but hey that's her business. as for talent- some people are so lucky and she is one of them
@sawyer3099 жыл бұрын
the way she did the interview is what makes her memorable... she may not want to be visually famous, but everyone aspires to leave their mark and be memorable. Like she said in the interview, "it's part of the concept"
@Some0neSomewhere9 жыл бұрын
It may not have been her choice; it could have been his or the program's. She doesn't show her face (anymore) on camera or to crowds, but I've never heard/seen her not face the interviewer (Such as Howard Stern, she faced him). Though, regardless, as someone with social anxiety, I 'get' part of it.Her talent is awesome though :)

It's annoying how people think that she's being rude by not showing her face. When you can write a hit song in under an hour, then you can talk. It's her life, her music, her brand. She can do whatever she wants.

if you know Sia from other interviews, she has shown her face, and toured without disguise. But she has her reasons for shying away. she will reveal herself for animal charity events, or to backstage vip fans at concerts in small groups, and gives you a glimpse in the Alive bonus feature video, only while she sings.. Because its exactly that, a fun bonus for the fans that want to bother with behind scene videos. she knows you can google her, but at the same time, alot of people wont search her face and for thst chunk, she can, to a degree get away with going out in public more.. and personally, I love the creative and fun ways she goes about performances and interviews, from doubles, to manican hands and wigs.. it shows her clever, playful side.. it isn't a gimmick and she lets the music speak for itself andi can appreciate and respect that. she always adds other artistic elements to performance, such as the sign language from her old hit she performed on Letterman once, which is one of her fav late night hots, so a big push to make her jump at the chance to be a guest,

Natascha Karin Yep, I made a mistake, I meant sound... and I just found out it wasn't, there's a larger version of this part of the interview of her singing this and that is definetly not Flashlight, maybe it's a new song for her next album.
