At firt both of us Czechs and Slovaks or Czecholsovaks If you want are part of western Slavs (together with Polish, Sorbian, Polabians and Cashubians) all this western slavic nations instead of Czechs and Slovaks live in todays Poland. We have same ancient history also with these other western slavic nations and we spoke one language in early history. The first western slavic "countries" were the Principality of Nitra (part of todays Slovakia) and Principality of Moravia (part of todays Czechia) then these two Principalities united and have created the Greaater Moravia (basicaly todays Czechia, Slovákia, Poland, Slovenia, Hungaria parts of Germany and parts of Croatia and Sérbia) it was the kingdom of western slavic people. But then after the death of king Svätopluk his 3 sons have started the fight for rule. And in year 1000 the Hungarians came to centrál Európe the diveded kingdom can t fight against united Hungarians tribes so the Greaater Moravia had collapsed the northern part created the kingdom of poland and from this point this is polish history. The poland was under the rule of Tsardom of Russia so the language change a little bit the southern territories have their own path, they created another kingdoms...these are todays southern slavic nation. The part of todays Czechia managed to create Kingdom of Bohemia (almost the samé borders as today Czechia) and today Slovakia felt under the Hungarian dictatorship this is the period where a little differences became real then the Austro- Hungaria was created and both Czechs and Slovaks were under the dictatorship, the Czech under Austria and we Slovaks under Hungarians. But after the WW1 we maneged to create the first Czechoslovak republic which ended at the beginig of WW2, but then was established the second Czechoslovak republic which ended in 1989, but during the period of one state We were able to erase the differences that had arisen before that. And now we basically speak one language (with just a little differences its Like american and British English) the most of our history is same. We have same culture and very close traditions. Even that we are separated in two countries now, the people feel that we are one nation and whenever it will bé needed we (Slovaks) are ready to help and defend our Czechs Brothers. And I think it s same with Czechs for us. I can travel to Czechia whenever I want to I can speak at Slovák language I don t need to change the dialect to Czech everybody understand mé without any problém (I mean in Czechia) I feel there as in my home country, you can study in Prague or every where else as a native Czech. The samé for Czechs here in Slovakia, they can study, travel, speak Czech..... Everything without any problém it is just normal. Ú oficiálny we are still one nation this is the people s feeling. I personaly know a lot people which live in Slovakia, but work in Czechia or people who live in Czechia, but work here they are traveling everyday without problém an at job they speak Slovak in Czechia or Czech in Slovakia and thats normal. The Slovak language is also oficial in Czech republic.

Before Austria-Hungary there was Slovak uprising 1848 principality of Nitra 825 Great Moravia 833 and Samos empire 631 and if we count Austria-Hungary then also kingdom of Hungary because Slovaks were in a autonomous region there also was a short lived autonomous region of Slovakia 1938-1939
