I read that that autistic brains were found to have more microglia than NT brains so this supports this as if those primed microglia never die it sort of makes sense that they would have increase amount of microglia. Big question is though does the 'M2' anti-inflammatory microglia have major differences from the normal roaming microglia a regular person without neuroinflammation would have? Like can 'M2' microglia go around and clean up and cut excess synapses in the brain if you are aware?
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
The resting microglia (referred to as M0 microglia) will comb over neurons looking dfor signs of any damage that needs repair. I've seen some estimates that there may be 100 or so microglia per neuron.

Thanks as always for your outstanding information Dr. N. I am still trying to get my 76 year old mother to come see you. I have done your protocol for a few years now, and wondered if there is anything particular you would suggest for helping my dog? After his puppy vaccines, and a major surgery, I suspected inflammation was set in motion, causing allergies, and fatigue. I feed him Farmer's Dog food, which helps, but am wanting to help fix his nervous system! Thanks for any advice. Any way you know of to stimulate his vagus nerve? I am starting to add small amount of olive oil to his food.
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
We give our dogs a little olive oil and well as omega-3s in the form of sardines or canned mackerel daily. My Pyrenees gets short courses of rifaximin occasionally for his mucous, diarrhea. Typical antibiotics for this such as metronidazole made him worse. My Labrador gets short courses of rifaximin occasionally when his anxiety spikes, way, way up. Calms him down within 2-3 days and the affect will last for several months.

Great video! What do you think about the research showing that those with APOE4 gene, may have decreased ability to get DHA into the brain and they need DHA is phospholipid form specifically to help? I am homozygous for APOE4 and have been taking 3 grams of fish oil everyday. But now I’m wondering if I need it in phospholipid form specifically? Thank you!
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
I'm uncertain about the need for the phospholipid form of fish oil because we have seen the reversal of dementia in a handful of adults under 70 y/o and they were simply taking 3 grams of DHA from standard fish oil. I cannot comment on their APOE4 status.

How do you know when for certain when a patients leaky gut has healed? Like do you use any blood tests or repeated breath tests or do you just go by the patients change in symptomology only

Mainly by symptoms which can be gastrointestinal, inflammatory (joint muscle dyscomfort) or neurological.

As someone with a mild mood disorder (cyclothymia), from your research, could an argument be made that a mild mood episode is basically a brain injury and if not healed, eventually accumulates over time?
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
I think research supports that premise.

Since sibo affects stomach emptying, Is it better for people with it to eat smaller meals instead of the standard two or three per day?
@TheNemechekProtocolАй бұрын
That only depends on your symptoms. If there is less discomfort, eat more but smaller meals. The primary goal though is to lower inflammation further in order to improve intestinal and stomach motility.

@@TheNemechekProtocol I have a very rare disorder called chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction. I had bowel obstruction surgery when I was 6 and again when I was 7 with adhesions to the stitches. All was fine and dandy after the surgery until I was 18 and had my first episode of CIP. I have had subsequent attacks every 3-6 months ever since. Nothing could predict them and nothing could stop them until I learned about the Vagus nerve and pressure points. I was successfully able to stop a couple of attacks before they became full blown. Unfortunately I ended up injuring the nerves in my legs due to pressing so hard on the points so I had to abandon that method. Then I moved to the ICES PEMF unit which has also helped tremendously, but nothing has completely stopped the brutal attacks. I may be able to stem them off from going full blown a few times but inevitably I’ll get a full attack sooner or later. They last from 5-15 hours with extreme abdominal bloating/distention and intensely painful intestinal spasms, vomiting, etc. I started to develop gastroparesis last year and it’s gotten progressively worse. I also have ulcer symptoms. I believe the root of everything is the vagus nerve damage I probably got from the bowel surgery but what doesn’t make sense to me is why was I fine for 13 years the boom, then attacks for the rest of my life. I am currently on the carnivore/partial keto diet. Only eating meat, eggs, cheese, raw goats milk and bone broth. I tolerate small amounts of some vegetables. I have made great improvements over the past month but I’m still experiencing the vagus nerve seizing/fight or flight and ulcer symptoms every few days. I just got the stimulator device, your books, the supplements etc from your site. I believe my husband bought everything available. I am looking for a quick start guide so I can just get started and read along as I go. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

Adding this to my 4 year old son because he’s been on the protocol for almost 2 years without a single dose missed of fish oil, EVOO, Rifax and VNS, and still have not seen much improvement. Are mcas and histamine part of this as well and what do these folks do for dha since fish oils have very high histamines?
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
The primary problem with mast cell activation syndrome is leaky gut. Most of the mast cells that release histamine live within the surrounding tissue, and when they come in contact with foreign molecules that leak through, they release histamine. Stopping leaky gut dramatically reduces histamine release.

@@TheNemechekProtocol can leaky gut be healed without the fish oil? Also, many folks with mcas find l-glutamine worsens symptoms. It's like a catch 22. The things that would help also can worsen symptoms.

@@jillherrmann1918 I don't know what the doc will think about your question. What I'm going to tell here is just my experience. I've been struggling for a long time. Does LPS stand for lipopolysaccharide?
@sebastienf55642 ай бұрын
yes
@TheNemechekProtocol2 ай бұрын
Yes. LPS, or lipopolysaccharide is a molecule found on the surface of gram negative rod bacteria found in the colon and is released when the bacteria divide.
