Yes if you’re hooking and unhooking the trailer more often. I heard you say you have a battery in the box and I see the little solar panel on there. What is that battery being used for? I have a cargo trailer that is quite heavy and has stabilizer jack stands. I have to go up and down with the tongue of the trailer 5 times to hitch it up! Because, I have a load leveling hitch. I put on one of the harbor freight 12v jacks. Wasn’t that expensive and I put alligator clips on it so it doesn’t stay live when not in use. ✌️
@timbervisions3 ай бұрын
@oldfarmer9004 I have a winch system for the trailer. I know the electric Jacks are less than hydraulic ones, but this thing I'm showing was under $50. 12 volt jacks are about triple that or more. Seemed like a no brainer move to me and the install was fast.
@henryklassen336214 күн бұрын
I work at a trailer manufacturing company and the majority of the jacks have a drop leg where you pull a spring loaded pin and the leg can drop down, then you don’t have to crank it that far.
@timbervisions14 күн бұрын
@henryklassen3362 yes, this trailer has that function, but I'm low enough it's unusable. I can maybe get the first hole sometimes, but really not handy reaching down and trying to get it to pull out enough to release, then reaching down with the other hand to push it down or use your foot... this drill adaptor is quick and easy and no cranking needed unless the trailer is loaded.
@JeffGeorgalas4 ай бұрын
That's pretty cool. I hate cranking the jacks on my gooseneck so much, that a lot of times I'll leave it connected to the truck for days because I don't feel like unhooking it! My big trailer has two jacks operated with one crank, and I wonder if trying to run both of those up and down (they go up and down together at the same time) would kill my drill. I wanted to buy hydraulic jacks when I got the trailer, but they were pretty expensive, and have a pretty high failure rate.

You have a box make a wood block tall enough to throw under the jack where you only have to crank it a couple inches. When the jack is up put the block in your box and take it with you. Don't need batteries using it in the rain wont ruin it. Works great. cheap or free maybe. If you have to load and unload your trailer when its not hooked up build a wide enough block to allow the jack to move around without falling off.
@timbervisions4 ай бұрын
I see your point and this jack is even extendable to not need a block under it as you describe. The issue is that it takes so many cranks to raise enough to clear the ball since the jack is geared down so much. That is the point of this attachment. I have a toolbox right in the back of my truck that I keep my drill in so it right there all the time and I have several batteries as well. Maybe not the best for everyone, but it's been great for me. Thanks for stopping in!

Hi. Looks like you can pin the red adapter to the other end of the crank rod and leave it there all the time. The red adapter would install to the opposite end of the rod and you put the handle back where you took it off from for this video. (I guess a person could see it on the rod and steal it though.)
@timbervisions4 ай бұрын
@JustinO-Pinion I think I follow what you're saying, but then the handle would need to spin as well when using it, which wouldn't work very well. If the handle could spin freely, like bolt removed it would work, but then it may fall off going down the road.
@Motorizeify4 ай бұрын
It does work well. Just like you say, though, do it with an empty trailer. I was doing it with a full trailer and ended up shearing the pin inside the jack. Those pins are difficult to find. Ended up buying the gear set just to get a new pin.i went back to hand cranking.

I like that tool quite handy and inexpensive!! Does your trailer jack have 2 speeds?" On a semi trailer the landing gear have 2 speeds and your jack is very similar. To make it work you push the handle in or pull it out in order to engage the gears. Then again your jack may not have the gearing.

@@timbervisions That is why I think you might want to take the cover off and look and see if it is 2 speed and it is just not working. I honestly don't think I have ever seen a jack that size that isn't 2 speed. It is at least worth it to look and see if it is. That is the reason so many people believe it is 2 speed. They wouldn't hardly sell any that weren't 2 speed, because as you have found out, a single speed jack on a heavy trailer sucks.

@user-px3ml2ge4g so when the jack is geared down as much as this one is, it takes a lot of cranks to go that little bit. You can barely see the jack move with each rotation. With the excrank drill attachment, this goes a lot faster. As I stated in the video, my previous trailer jack, this wasn't an issue. This jack is geared way down. Each crank is a fraction of an inch movement in the jack. Hope that makes more sense as to the usefulness of this attachment.
