you know what, its AMAZING video, because its VERY important to show the “real” side or part of these treks. I hate all these videos where everything is full of sun and flowers, smile and how easy is Kilimanjaro and Everest etc… BS. Then everyone thinks that, hey man stop drinking the beers and lets go for everest. Its peace of cake… Thank you guys for this content 👍 very appreciate BTW: about the mental part of Three passes trek is better to go clockwise, cause when you go like you guys, you reach EBC and then your head is like - Done I made it, but the problem is, that the harder part of trek is only ahaed of you

At the end of the day, this is just a great example of why traveling with guides is so important. A proper guide knows where the western toilets and safe food are! They've done this trek hundreds of times, after all.

Scenery looks fantastic. I'm sure it looks even better being there, but the combination of your video and my imagination is enough for me. The discomforts, hassle and potential for illness, falls and getting lost means that I will not choose to make this trip. There are easier places to visit, which are good enough for me, though I am much older than you. Thanks for sharing this and so glad you took the wise decision to turn back.

Good call to go back! I had a similar experience, it’s easily done as locals do not always advise the safest routes, not out of malice but just because they have local knowledge and know about Shortcuts. Were you returning to the lodge you stayed in or a place that you’d stopped for a break? Keep going loving and appreciating your videos.

I feel you guys, was in a very similar situation. Was crossing this glacier alone in the afternoon, it was foggy and no body else on the trail, got lost multiple times thankfully made it across! If any one is reading this and planning on crossing without a guide here are my two cents: maps me isn’t always correct because it’s a moving glacier and trails keep changing, avoid crossing when visibility is low, mornings are the best time coz loads of ppl are around and visibility is generally good 👍🏻

I disagree with you guys on the hygiene part. EBC trek is the most commercialised and developed trekking route in Nepal. After all it is the gateway to Everest so people from all around the world comes to do that particular trek. You can find bakery, atms, espresso coffee machines till all the way up. The hotel owners are so boujee that they can literally order a salmon filet from the capital and it arrives within an hour via chopper. The beds were the cleanest and warmest when I did the trek even in Annapurna Circuit areas. I agree on the toilet situation being squat friendly but most have western style and clean. Also it really depends if you want to find a boujee hotel and u have a standard then u really must be willing to spend your dollar too. I can guarantee you Everest region has it all. I don’t know if anyone ever told u during the trek, never go for meat option up there because it is not fresh specially yak meat which is common sense. I know you white folks don’t eat rice twice a day but when in the Himalayas u eat what the local eats to fuel you up for this harsh trek. You eat freshly cooked rice set meal your entire trek not the pizzas and pasta (can u even digest the yak cheese is another question). Stay on the safer side and eat daal bhaat (local every day rice dish) hence why “ DAAL BHAAT POWER 24HR”. I promise you our daal bhat will fuel u up for the whole day better. I beg you to not eat those wild berries from the paths like do u even know if it’s edible? 👀They have fresh veggies grown in their green house though surprisingly at that temp and with all the snow and my dude a MONTH long trekking is ridiculous like seriously. You wanted to explore the forgotten route and not land in Lukla directly and start the trek then it was your own choices. At this point and on that elevation for a month yes you would miss certain foods, comfortable bed, warm bathtub. You guys over did it and are just fatigued at this point. This trek was meant to be finished max 13-15 days and best recommended. You didn’t had to stay in every camp for over a day for acclimatisation 😂. You could have just stayed at namche for one or two days for that or more if needed to. Also eating those soups n god knows whatever u guys cooked n ate on the side just might be the cause. All the porters and hotel people must be looking at you guys like cheap trekkers. You wanted to save money starting the trek from I don’t know some where but it cost you more money and your health. Good luck.

All i can say, ia you're better than me. Danger is all around you. People die up there. If you are ill, take care of yourself. The cure is to go down the mountain. Also, i say y'all two look really terrible. Yall will need a month to recover from this trip. And thats another thing, y'all as still have that downward trek that took you days of hiking. Good luck. Hope you come to your senses soon. We don't want to lose either one of you. This is a tough video to watch knowing what you are going through. Id rather was you get better and get rest, proper food etc.
