A blaze in the northern sky is vigorous. Under a funeral moon is majestic. Transilvanian Hunger is epic, transcendental. Panzerfaust is juggernaut.

@Patrick Shepherd Vocal on panzerfaust are awesome. I know a lot of people don't like them but I think they are just perfect. As you said, painful, disturbing... This is actually how I like my black metal, not easy listening.

@@Yaguara I like how Nocturno Culto tries different approaches with his vocals on each album. As a black metal vocalist he is vastly underrated for the breadth of his scope and nuance.

Give slaughtersun by dawn a shot if you're looking for that vibe. The songs falcula, ride the wings of pestilence, and malediction murder go particularly hard. Pitch black nihilism

Fenriz is quoted to say "Varg was right on the money with his sound" and that is 100% correct. Burzum and Darkthrone are timeless. There are some very good underground black metal bands keeping to that traditional sound/recording today, but sadly black metal is mostly dead unless you know where to look. ;)
@BeholdJesse10 жыл бұрын
I think this idea that black metal has to sound a certain way is the problem with a lot of the culture today. It's just as bad as any other click majority of the time
@dreamopeth10 жыл бұрын
BeholdJesse I agree, there are not enough people being themselves. Only trying to be something.

Fenrir Wolf Black Metal has become a fashion too. A lot of teens who listen to this genre only because it is extreme and "true". The reality is that no one of us can understand much of that, because we haven't lived that period. We can just enjoy this beautiful music, as all metal is, extreme or not.

@@Joker-om7ff So idk if I'm too late or not, but Windir is a band that played a genre called Sognametal, which they invented because they didn't want to be associated with the atrocities that happened in the black metal scene. Their genre is basically folk black metal. And they only have 4 albums, because Valfar (the leader) died early. Their music is seriously worth listening to. I was instantly addicted. Hope you give it a try, if you haven't already. :)
