I have to admit as a kid this guy scared the crap out of me, it surprises me how humble he seems outside the ring, seems like he'd be a really cool person to meet and hang out with, I think he deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame, I don't understand why he's not already.. he was one of those heels that was sort of like Stone Cold, he was so bad that eventually the fans started cheering for him...

I was a DEVOUUUUUUT little Stinger and was 8 years old during that Halloween Havoc and believed that wrestling was totally real. So I still remember, to this very day, the exact moment and exact place where I was at when watching that Halloween Havoc and when I thought Sting had lost I was literally crying out loud and my dad realized that it wasn't really Sting in the ring and told me to just keep watching and then Sting came back out and won the match and my sorrows were turned to joy. Ahhhh 90's wrestling.... LOL!

No wonder Flair doesn't like him! I saw him when he first got to WCW in Springfield MA. He was in a battle royal and used his finisher, the Power Bomb! Never saw the move before! I was like, who is this guy? What the heck was THAT move?? I've been a Sid fan ever since, and am so glad he's been HW Champ because SID RULES THE WORLD! :) Oh, and Thumbs Up on the video!

The half a brain promo was late WCW, so I'm pretty sure that's the way it was scripted. The IYH fuckup with Ross "we're live, pal"... well, shit happens. That are the only instances I remember Sid looking like an idiot on the mic

John Smith He was fuckin cool at Survivor Series 1996, that MSG reaction was crazy, they loved the guy, with everybody fist bumping him and booing everything babyface Shawn did while cheering even the shittiest things that heel Sid was doing, it's like Sid could do no wrong, just a surreal atmosphere I can't think of many wrestlers who could do something like that, maybe Flair or Austin
@whtevr84

chet michael Uh....I was complimenting Sid here, not critiquing his matches, the point is that I know what I like about him and at what points of time I liked Sid and when I didn't Why am I supposed to like everything about Sid? What about him was supposed to be so good in the ring? Vader's a better big man, as is Undertaker, as is Barry Windham, as are several other big power wrestlers....Sid looks like he gets lost sometimes in his matches, he can be clumsy, one dimensional, boring and unimaginative especially when he's in control, he's got some of the worst chair shots I've ever seen....he seems like he's probably harder to carry than Kevin Nash or Goldberg or any number of not great wrestlers, and Sid is definitely not carrying shit Sid's charismatic and his character is insane that's what his appeal is to me...and he makes me unintentionally laugh at times so I find him entertaining Shawn vs Sid at Survivor Series is the best Sid match more for the atmosphere than the ringwork, the work is good, but the atmosphere makes that match and that has mostly to do with Sid I hate revisionist smarks who try to push the idea that visibly bad in ring workers are actually great workers...i imagine most of them look like Sloth from The Goonies...which is probably reflective of Sid's overall intelligence level

chet michael Oh I don't care if you read my "paragraphs", I don't see the point of typing out 2 short sentences when all it takes is a few seconds to read a full thought...but I understand, you're probably just a slow reader so you probably don't have the time for that, after all you are a Sid mark, you probably don't understand the big words And yes I can compliment somebody while also criticizing them...it's called a critique, see you'd understand that if you weren't simple minded...I'm making observations not campaigning to get Sid elected for President ya douche

Don't buy that Sid was meant to win the belt at Havoc 90. Sting had only been champion since July. Back then world title reigns typically lasted longer than 3 months. Its possible than Flair might not have been honest with him about the finish.

@whtevr84
@whtevr84 7 жыл бұрын
chet michael Dumb people can make a lot of money, you don't have to be intelligent to make money if you're blessed with what Sid had from the outset, but looking at Sid's career and all the places he fucked up and how he fucked up...you're being very generous with your assessment of Sid's mental capacity Supermodels, actors, pornstars, reality TV people, even some politicians, there are many success stories in those fields of categorically dumb people, Sid doesn't seem like he's very bright All I'm saying is that he did very good for his capacity, talent wise and intelligence wise, no reason to feel that anything was lacking in his career, there are more talented people than Sid who deserved more and got far less than he did in their careers
@whtevr84
@whtevr84 7 жыл бұрын
chet michael No...he's not...he might not even be as smart as you...maybe And you did say that a person who makes $ couldn't possibly be dumb, so I don't think you understood yourself what you were implying Sid's a dope, I'm sorry, I know you love him, even I enjoy Sid for what he is, but dude's not a smart guy
@whtevr84
@whtevr84 7 жыл бұрын
chet michael And you get an F for that little brain fart...in my original post I stated that there is no reason for Sid marks to bemoan his career because based on popular opinion from those who have dealt with him Sid is infamous for being dumb, he did have a modicum level of talent, a very specific type of appeal, and for his limited capacity and career bumblings he did well....as usual you're confusing yourself because you never even understand what you're thinking much less what anybody else is saying...I actually never said anything in particular about his matches and how the fuck is one supposed to prove superior intelligence....lets say I know I'm smarter just by the mere fact that I'm not Sid Eudy What the fuck have you proved, for that matter, since you bring it up, you haven't done anything to prove that Sid has great matches, is extremely talented, and is incredibly intelligent All you do is make up excuses and lie for Sid out of some unexplained fanboy obsession with him

Sids worst match was against Kevin Nash at the 1999 Starcade ppv.Power bomb match in which the winner was the one who powerbombed his opponent.But although Nash won he did'nt even powerbomb Sid as the ref was 'hurt' but this was WCW so the fact that Sid was down,and the ref was to,Nash stil won as he just literally pointed at Sid on the floor and held his back as if to say 'look ref my back hurts as ijust powerbombed Sid' and the ref believed Nash and declared Nash the winner?!?! They could have made Sid the top guy in WCW but this was the Vince Russo era so most things in WCW Russo failed pretty quickly..

@whtevr84
@whtevr84 7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Zerbst I agree, but that match based on the work alone is simply pretty good, it's the atmosphere at MSG, everybody going crazy over Sid and booing Shawn in such an organic way that nobody anticipated is what elevated the match from pretty good to pretty great Everything Sid is doing whether it's babyface stuff like him kipping up and smacking Shawn in response to Shawn smacking him or heel stuff like Sid taking cheapshots and trying to kill Jose Lothario with a tv camera, the crowd pops every single time...so it's clearly Sid making that match what it is

That's how you're SUPPOSED to handle Ric Flair. That's what Scott Steiner should've done. Sid was way greener than Scott was when he wrestled Flair. Scott should've realized what was happening and beat the fuck out of Flair like Vader did. By the time Vader came around people were smartened-up to how Flair would manipulate you in the ring if he felt you were a threat.

This guy lies, he didn't know the finish, bull. Also, they weren't ready for Sting to drop the title. They wanted him as the guy, and tried until it was obvious he wasn't drawing. Plus, listen to this guy's ego, Sting said he's got great ideas, he beat the shit out of Flair. In this interview he said he was better than Hogan, and they fired Benoit after he won the world title. Sid wasn't that big a star. He seems like quite a marmite performer. He didn't have anything special going. You could say his size by you had guys like The Undertaker and Dan Spivey the same size. Dan was the same. Sid would screw up lines, forget what he had to say during promos and he looked so uncomfortable all the time. Watching the matches and segments back - he's cringeworthy. I guess he wasn't that invested in his character.

Sid was awesome. His promos were great and he had a great connection with fans. Taker was more for gimmick. His loyalty and gimmick is what makes him. Taker had many crap matches in the 90s. The matches that stood out were the ones with Michaels and Austin. Taker was below average on mic. Sid did screw in a few interviews. He was a below average worker but did good for his size. But not all. And people remember him for those. It's a pity that people just go through blogs or videos on the net and make perceptions.
