This extension on the crashbars, prevents the bike from tipping over, when falling on the side. Therefore, upper crashbars are not needed on this one. You quickly showed a picture of a1300 standard gs with upper crashbars.......

I’m 3 GSAs deep, and pretty committed to the brand since 2006. To boot, I have a great relationship with my local Motorrad dealer. However, I won’t buy the 1300, but stick with my 1250 GSA 40th Anniv. The following is purely personal opinion: For one, the specs aren’t dramatically different, at least not enough for me. The “shaft drive on the house” replacement, has been significantly pushed out on the 1300. I prefer a new drive every 36k. The new electronics make things more convoluted than anything, and it’s mostly fiddling with the menu now. The electronic windshield - not a sales point. I have a Puig on mine, and never move it. From 110F in NV to 27F in MN, it’s never been an issue. The pricing for the new aluminum cases is preposterous at best - and the power option…that’s not enough to warrant the price. They do look nice, tho. In all, there are a million reasons not to buy the 1300. The main one to buy it? If you’re absolutely in love with the redesign. Which…I can’t stand it. Easy decision for me. Stick with the 1250 GSA until I don’t have any other options - which will be years down the road.

I can’t agree more with some of your comments. I wanted to be head over heels with the redesign but just like you I feel the new features are not as wow’ing

I got my first bmw r1250gsa just a few weeks ago and like you I went with a used bike. Last weekend I went to BMW dealership for service, specifically for valve check. Even though I had an appointment I had to sit and wait there for almost 4 hours! Also I was a bit disappointed with the overall experience. I didn’t expect Lamborghini or Maserati level of treatment but this is a premium motorcycle after all so I wish people were at least friendly. They weren’t mean but honestly with the exception of the guy in parts department everyone was like a robot. No emotions, nobody smiled or tried to engage in any conversation. They were all very dry even though I tried being very nice to everyone. I expected better treatment from a luxury motorcycle brand.

1250 automatically looks outdated next to the 1300 GSA

Hi, just wanted to tell you that the handle bars are wider than the crash bar extensions, so for road use if filtering you should be okay if you have space to get through with the handle bars, I do agree that off road could be an issue. Thanks'.

Crash bars aren't a deal breaker for me. Figure you'd hit the bars first on a car etc and most people aren't going through scrub and bush. I get it though

No that certainly is NOT A TYPICAL BMW buying experience. I can't say if it's common but NO WAY is it typical. My dealer in Northern Illinois who has been there for decades doesn't treat anyone coming in like that

If the salesman said that to me then goodbye to you. Looks a great bike but I would have liked the seat material to have travelled up to the tank like the standard GS. What's wrong with a dedicated heated grips/seat button, maybe in future have a voice activated control like a Alexa etc connected to your comms.

Total fail with this dealer. I would stay away from them for sure. My local dealer has a demo on the floor but it does not have the adjustable ride height so it is too tall for me. They have another one on the way with the adjustable ride height and will call me when it arrives so I can ride it. Thank you for the comparison.

Please!!!! Do not buy your new BMW to a sales man that offends you with that kind of attitude…. Buy the new bike to the one that treats you with respect!
