I used the Wilkinson Sword cartridges in a Trac II Gillette for several years and found them better and cheaper than Gillette. All this time I was thinking they were bought by Schick. I haven't seen you do St. Johns Bay Rum classic cologne yet. I'm sure lots of your viewers either have or are using it.

Hey, great shave Ken! I just got my Gillette black beauty and my Gillette fat boy. Very little cleaning needed, but cleaned them anyway and put them in barbicide to kill off possible nasty germs. Ken.. I am a wet shaver from Nebraska.. I have never seen a shaving store around here.. Went to Vegas last weekend found a art of shaving shop at the shops at mandalay bay.. Had to take a look around they had a master barber doing a shave watched that for a little 65 bucks for that.. Was thinking about it but my group and I had to run so had to decline... In Canada, those German blades are available in basically every drug store or supermarket. Sadly, those are usually the only choice though. At least we have Proraso in a nation wide drug store called "Shoppers Drug Mart."

I consider it a good average blade, smooth enough and sharp enough. I never tried the Gillette-Wilkinson (from India), though. Your new Dirty Harry pinball machine looks fantastic! Congrats.

Hi Ken. The German made blades are being carried by every Walmart, usually in 10 packs, while Amazon carries them in 5 packs. The German made blades come in plastic carts that have a blade bank on the back side.

You don't have to tell us what you paid for the Aventus Ken, we already know it was too much...lol. It's a great scent but I can't understand why the formula isn't locked in. The scent is close but varies between batches? Weird. They must get the pineapples from different plantations for each batch...IDK. Hoping Captain's Choice (Scott) comes out with the soap version of Venture as well. Great shave and comparison of the blades. Another nice video. Enjoy!

Good evening Ken! Thanks for doing the comparison on the blades and the review for the aftershave. I think the German made Wilkinson Sword blade is very good and has a 5 or 6 (4 pass) shave longevity. Still is a bit short in longevity if compared to the English made Wilkinson Sword blades. The British made ones are uber-smooth and sharp. You did have nice audio feedback. A sound like buttering toast. I have never smelled Creed Aventus, but I find Captain's Choice aftershave smell incredibly nice. Take care.

Great side by side blade review. I have tried both and prefer the German Wilkie over the India version. I love the 7 o'clock Permasharp from India and it is currently my main blade but each time I put in the Wilkinson Sword(German) I seem to think it is better so if I ever get through my lot of Permasharp's I think I will make the switch. Living in a rural area DE blades are about nonexistent but the local drugstore does carry some of the German version but it is hit or miss they have them when you go in. Shaving supplies for me in general is an internet game. I did see Captain come out with this AS recently and if or when he comes out with the soap I will likely have to order some up. I just recently picked up Razorock Emperor soap, AS and Zcent(cologne) and it does smell really nice. I just don't think I could ever pry open my wallet for the real thing though. It is just too overpriced and I am not into fragrances much. Thanks for the review.

Are you aware that Gillette Wilkies are also made in China. The Indian version is a favorite that I've used for more than a decade now but if you look at the manufacturing location some boxes from India will show "made by Gillette (Shanghai) Limited". The good news is it's a damn fine blade and very similar to the Indian version in feel. I personally think the Chinese blade is slightly smoother but for me only lasts 3 shaves tops while the Indians are good for atleast a week. As for German Wilkinson Sword blades with me it's a love hate thing. I used Wilkinson Swords back when they were made in England and AWESOME, The first time I tried the German variety I thought I had bought fakes because they were nothing like what I was expecting. The same thing happened with Derby 2.0 blades nothing like the v1.0 The thing to keep in mind with both is that they are coated with so much "stuff"it's like pushing a sharp knife through grease, it's still sharp but all the grease kind of pulls along and makes the blades oddly smooth but tuggy. Anyways, Thanxz for all the great videos! I'm jealous of your pinball machines especially with the LED upgrades!! and I hope you had a Great Trip!!!

I can sometimes find the German Wilkies at the grocery store and you can buy them all day long on Amazon. Theyre the best German blades, IMO. You should also try Cromas if you get the chance. Theyre almost as good as German Wilkies and theyre made in the same plant where Harry's carts are made.

A bit late to the party with that comment, but as a new wet shaving enthusiast, I have so far only tried the wilkinson sword blades and the plastic wilkinson classic razor (in Bulgaria they are available in drugstores, haven't seen any other blades on the shelves). The German made Wilkinson Sword are the only ones I can find in my area. Finding any DE blades is hard here, although one store does carry their own brand of blades but I haven't seen anything else here, such as Gillette. I do like the Wilkinson Sword blades though. I actually sharpen them and can get 30 to 45 shaves out of them, believe it or not.

Hi Ken, great Video. I have and use both of the blades. But here in Portugal, the german ones are easy to find in stores and supermarkets. The indian ones I have to order online. Also the price is way better from the ones from India, €0,83 for 10 vs €3,90 the one from Germany. Personnaly I do like more the saloon pack indian ones. In fact they are my blade of choice, because they are very balance and forgiving blades, and you only have to work with the razor to get more or less agression. Cheers :)

Make sure you get a good fit when the holes of the ball are drilled and the weight of the ball is something you can handle. Some like cushions glued into the thumb hole. The weight of the ball is important for pin count. Some feel that a 15 lb or 16 lb ball is too heavy. Then you have to get used to counting the boards and using the arrows on the alley as you approach the line before release.

The Suffolk Shaver I agree that a ball custom made for you instead of a pre drilled for someone else. I use the rubber inserts in the two finger holes but not my thumb, 14 pounds. A lesson is good too or take a bowling class at a local community college. Lots of fun👍💈

Thanks Ken , I was interested in the Wilkinson Sword India vs German Blades . I had no idea Captan's Choice had an Aventus interpretation also , great to know about Venture , I have several other Aventus clones , plus the Real Deal myself . I used to have CK Eternity and Obsession back in the day . I'm rooting for the German Blades , but you never know . The Nivea Lather looks Great ! Nice Shave .

I'm going to have to pick up the Gillette Wilkinson 100 packs on Ebay. There's a bunch of sellers with the same price and free shipping. I just have to pick one that looks like they're a good seller. The German made Wilkinson's are readily available on line and in local discount stores. I bought a 100 pack from Connaught Shaving. The Nivea shaving cream tubes are discontinued in the USA. As far as Aventus goes, I have the Fine Platinum AS but not their edt yet. I also have Armaf's Club de Nuit Intense Man edt. Layer that with Demeter's Pineapple Cologne and the scent is terrific. How long does the Venture last? Fine Platinum AS is good for a few hours.

Aventus doesn't last real long on my skin . I've got Fine Platinum and Stirling Executive Man , my first bottle of Fine was a fantastic batch , I got tons of compliments from the ladies , it lasted about as long as Aventus . I'd like a 100 pack of PermaSharp blades , though I haven't put a dent in the Personna and Astra 100 packs yet .

GSB's are excellent. Nacets are great with the EJ 89. Isn't it interesting how Gillette still makes the best DE blades but won't manufacture another DE razor?

Creed has several great scents as well as Aventus as does Tom Ford. You can get decants in small sizes if you don't want to sprain your wallet on the full size. There are some pretty good copy cat versions too for a fraction of the real thing.

Hi Ken, I have never tried the Gillette Super thin despite having several different Gillette blades. From Gillette the 7 O'Clock green (Super Stainless) and the 7 O'Clock yellow (SharpEdge) are the ones I use the most because they are the ones I like the most. But there are others blades of different brands and I have to see if the stock decreases because when I buy blades it is usually the packaging of 100 and so I still have a lot of blades in stock. Today I used a Racer Super Class Platinum blade in my Merkur 39C 👍
