Got a Ps2, saved on a memory card, got a paper strategy guide and you took the time to set up the equipment to record it all properly for us so we can enjoy what you get to experience... I just have to say this is my favorite series anyone has ever done on a game. Maybe others have gone to a similar level before but it's my first time seeing it. Agree! Even if others have done it (I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone else go to this level of commitment for playing an old console gen game either) the commitment and care she and her team put into it matters. Also setting up a cam to share the guide with viewers is also just next level! She went above and beyond to play these old console games and truly live out the experience those of us who grew up with them had. Definitely put her heart into it, which is one of the reasons I enjoy watching her playthroughs. Also, damn that old guide brings me back 😂 Love the sticky notes! Makes me want to see if I still have my old notebooks with my game notes in them anywhere!

You can get the albhed primers from Home. Load save you have at Home go collect the primer in the room you missed then save your file. After that go back to main save and find a albhed compilation file and load the home save into your main save. It will transfer your primers over to the main save :)

**There's a fast way to defeat Dark Valefor!** Yojimbo is the key. He has a move called Zanmoto which is an instant kill for any enemy including Dark Aeons. Here's the path: 1) NEVER dismiss him without paying him to perform at least one move. 2) NEVER let him die. You've only summoned him one time, and you paid him a whopping 50k and dismissed him before he died. This is an excellent start. From now on, start summoning him and always pay him at least 4100 gil per move. (The payment increments are based on powers of 2, so 4096 gil is the affordable value before the subsequent 8192, 16384, and so on). Do this often, but just never let him die. If you're regularly seeing Wakizashi (especially the one that attacks multiple fiends), or if he occasionally attacks without requesting payment, you're on the right track. (He has an ongoing affection value for Yuna, and it increases as long as he uses Wakizashi or Zanmoto. If you see Kozuka or, god forbid, Diagoro, that's an indicator that you need to probably start paying him 8200 per move or whatever you can afford.) Once you're regularly getting Wakizashi (and maybe the occasional Zanmoto), save your game and head to Besaid. Customize a weapon for Yuna with the First Strike ability, challenge Dark Valefor, and Grand Summon Yojimbo. Pay him a bunch of gil, and if he doesn't perform Zanmoto, reset. If he does, you're all set.

One thing I adore about Tidus: after learning he's a dream of the Fayth and saving Yuna entails his own demise, he does not hesitate and never has a second thought about it. Even when Bahamut looks straight at him and spells it out, Titus answers, "I'm grateful." This mission was thrust upon him and he accepts it to save Yuna.

1:35:30 The way I see Zanarkand, Tidus and Jecht is that the Fayths' dream created a physical place, a real place, in the same time and universe as Spira (just far away). In order to protect it, Yu Yevon keeps Sin alive to make sure the people of Spira is never able to get the technological advancement in order to find (and ruin) Zanarkand again. Zanarkand used to be the "Summoner capital", while Bevelle used to be the "machina capital". So when Tidus "travels 1000 years into the future", he actually is only moved physically to a different location. The Dream Zanarkand that Tidus is born into was originally a "copy" based on the Zanarkand back then, but has developed for those 1000 years. So he is a real physical person with real feelings and toughts, but the whole of Zanarkand and the people there are being summoned by the fayth. So when they stop summoning, stop dreaming, both Zanarkand and the people there will disappear.

@@callmeshaggy5166 To be fair, in the normal North American release of the game, wakka out-damages Anima by a wide margin (also in that version, the dark aeons do not exist at all, which Is why I consider it the best version inherently, because being locked out of the additional story content of the temples is bullcrap.) In that version, Oblivion only does 1 instance of damage, so Anima can't ever do more than 99,999 with his overdrive. Wakka, on the other hand, can do over a million damage with his at max strength, putting him miles ahead of literally everything else in the game lol. It's only the PAL and the remaster versions that allow for Anima do match Wakka in damage.

Since you're now asking for recommendations, a few quick things. First, at the monster arena, make sure you are seeing PAGE TWO of most areas, I don't think I've seen you page over (right on the d-pad) a single time. Second, talk to the monster arena guy multiple times, he gives you loot one time per conversation. Third, spend more time doing monster arena before more time going for end game bosses. You should should be having minimal trouble with "Inside Sin" and "Omega dungeon" before thinking about dark aeons, and capturing monsters in these areas will help you level quickly. And finally, spend some time looking at Blitzball players in the guide. There are no spoilers concerning blitzball players, and this will help in a major way to win. Ultimately your choice which blitzers you take, but it will make the process MUCH easier working towards Wakka's unlocks. Hope that helps.

For subsequent playthroughs, I strongly recommend the PC version of the HD Remaster. You can speed up the game to 2x or 4x among other very useful buffs, which immensely shortens all the running around and fighting that is needed to beat all Dark Aeons (if you don’t want to use Yojimbo to kill them). Because, you still have not the slightest idea how much fighting and upgrading the Grid is required for that - like, just completing the whole Sphere Grid for three characters would not even close to be enough.
@zerothehero112 ай бұрын
Will say, there is a somewhat cheesy way to One-Shot any enemy in the game, even the dark aeons, that you already have access to. For Dark Bahamut and Especially Dark Valefor who are super bosses that are gating you out of other content i dont think anyone would mind if you just use that method so you can move forward with unlocking all aeons, overdrives, and Celestial Weapons. That said up to you. Loving the playthrough and glad you're doing some post game content!

Been wanting to say this from the start, but now that you're done: you can't really mess up the Sphere Grid. You did what you want, which is exactly the point of the Expert/International grid. People even beat the game without using the grid at all in one of the many No Sphere Grid (NSG) challenges. I did it for the first time while watching you play. It's a fun, alternative way of engaging with the combat system.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT! There is a translation/localization issue regarding which planet's sigil and crest belongs to which character- Because you are playing a Japanese version of the game and using a guide for an American version of the game, there's going to be a difference. For instance- Your guide associates Wakka with "Jupiter" when in the version you're playing he's "Mercury." Therefore, when you were looking for the "Jupiter Crest" you should have been looking for "Mercury" which you already have. So, in your version Lulu = Mars Wakka = Mercury Kimahri = Jupiter Rikku = Venus Auron = Saturn

It's interesting that you came to the conclusion that Yuna was thanking Tidus when she confessed her love for him. This is a localization change in the English version of the game. In the Japanese version of the game, Yuna never says "I love you" and instead says "Arigatou" - meaning "thank you" to Tidus. The change was likely done to give more emotional weight to the ending to an English-speaking audience. The phrases "Thank you" and "I love you" have different cultural meanings and contexts in Japanese, hence the change.

The man in the monster capture zone is programmed to only give you a reward every time you talk to him. That means that if you have completed two or more zones you have to talk to him, take the reward, close the conversation and talk to him again until he gives you all of them. The three celestial weapons most easy for you to get are: Auron-Kimary-Riku. Don't try to dodge the 200 lightings it's a pain in the ass. Forget about the tidus crest, dark bahamut is the stronguest of the dark aeons and it has 4 million life points. Get that three and grind until that characters can make 9999 damage attacking and have 9999 of live points and at least 90-120 fo every stat. Then you can kill dark valefor and take de destruction sphere on besaid. Once you are in besaid talk with the girl in the store and buy something from her. She will tell you that her dog has found something. Search the dog , interact with him and will give and item to obtain the second overdrive for valefor. Then, return to zanarkand, gho to the temple of yunalesca and and complete the trial for the destruction sphere. Those are the two you are missing for obtaining anima. Once you get anima i recommend you to complete the sphere grid with the characters you get the celestial weapons for, try to kill dark ifrit, dark ixion and dark shiva and end your game there. Why? Because if you want to kill the other dark aeons and the super boss it's not enough to obtain the celestial weapons and explore all of the sphere grid, no no. You need to max ALL OF YOUR STATS(technically not all, once you have 100 or more of luck you don't need accuracy nor evasion ). That mean 99.999 life points and 255 of every stat. You know the grid has empty nodes that you can fill right? You can grind in the monster arena the spheres to do dat. But even of you fill ALL the empty nodes it's not even enough to max you stats. You have to capture 5 specimens of every monster in the game. When you do that you unlock the possibility of buying clear spheres. With a clear sphere you can delete any stat node of the grid. With that you have to delete all the nodes that doesn't give you the max stat possible. +300 for health, +40 for pm and +4 for everything else. Every node that gives you +1, +2 or +3 MUST be deleted and fillet with a +4 until that stat is 255. As you can imagine, this requires an immense amount of grinding. I'm talking about possibly 80-100 hours to do everything I've described. There is a trick to get experience easily but nothing saves you from grinding for the spheres needed to fill the board. Especially the fortune spheres are a horror to get. Plus there are some celestial weapons that are a pain in the ass to get like dodging the 200 lightning bolts or the chocobo run in less than 0 seconds. So leave those things for your second game where you won't make mistakes (understandable in your first game) like not taking the chest after yunalesca. So my advice is to finish this game when I said and do the rest of the content when you play the remaster version of the game. The remaster has the ability to speed the game up to x4 and make the fights complete automatically( it only uses the attack command so it's only good for the grind of capturing enemies and leveling up). That reduces the grinding to a fifth of the time you would require using the ps2 version without such possibilities. I'm sorry if I wrote too much text but I hope it helped you. At the time when I was in high school I wrote a guide for this game so I still have most of the things memorized, also i can give you some tips that are not in your guide( how to make the lightning less unfair or how to get experience "quick" ) and solve a specific question that the guide doesn't make clear,if you want.

A lot of your points are greatly exaggerated. Dodging 200 bolts can easily be done on the Southern side of the Thunder Plains in the International release. The Chocobo race is also isn't that hard. You can acquire that sigil as soon as you defeat Defender X during the main story. Grinding is a part of nearly every RPG. If you don't mind the grind, then maximizing the Sphere Grid becomes trivial. You don't need 255 in all stats anyways because of Dark Ixion. As long as you have a combination of 290 between Luck and Evasion, that's all you need. Agility beyond 170 has dimishing returns. There is no point going to 255 in that stat.
@adryanx692 ай бұрын
@@mysticalos That is extremely boring and you are robbing her of the opportunity to have a real fight against them. Recommending someone to use Yojimbo in their first game is almost like recommending them to watch the fights on youtube.
@adryanx692 ай бұрын
@@brandenlucero I didn't say that grind is not part of the experience but maybe she don't feel like spending more than 80 hours doing it. I told her to ignore the chocobo race because doing it in less than 0 seconds is only useful for the tidus sigil and this one is useless because she won't get the crest until she can kill dark bahamut. And no, I didn't say you need 255 of each stat to kill dark ixion. You need them to kill dark bahamut and penance. I also said that once you have more than 100 luck you don't need evasion or aim at all. High luck replaces those two parameters completely and is necessary to be able to max the rest. So you eliminate all the evasión nodes of the grid once you have enough luck.
@SuperTrailerz2 ай бұрын
you dont need BREAK HP limit to beat the dark aeons you can do it with 9,999 HP and Auto Phoniex. The only max stats you need are Strength for the first few if you have auto haste, Auto phoniex armor and use Rikku to mix Hyper Mighty G. But it does help to go around the sphere grid with the Don Tonberry method.

In case no one else has mentioned it, there is a way to defeat that dark valefor and probably whichever other one you need to go do the destruction spheres for the treasures to then go get Anima. The way is with Yojimbo but you have to be lucky. He does different attacks depending on a few different things, including how much gil you pay him, but his most powerful attack can one shot pretty much anything in the game. That's your easy pass through dark valefor unless you want to do it the hard way. Also, I think I'd almost rather just watch you go through guides than play the games. Your excitement was great.
@mysticalos2 ай бұрын
Yep and there is a trick that i'm confident works, just based on what I've tested and convinced others to do. But even of affinity is very low. grand summon does give a boost to it, but so does paying exactly 7777 gil. also need to equip first strike on someone because otherwise dark aeons always attack first (they have vast speed) and honestly I agree that valefor should be cheesed cause she can't get anima or many other things without regaining access to besaid. the rest can be done legit but she needs into besaid for that missing destruction sphere. other one she missed was in bevelle cause she didn't notice the screen changed to a new puzzle.

the major hurdle in your playthrough is dark valefor, once u redo that temple it will unlock everything else. u can do it without grinding by using yojimbo, just got to get a little lucky with zanmato, u can just save the game before the fight and get his overdrive up, then pay him a bunch of gil and pray to yevon
@callmeshaggy51662 ай бұрын
Honestly spamming yojimbo might be her play here. Zanmato procs about 32% of the time with 512 gil. If he doesn't do it, just keep paying him 512 gil as long as he's alive. If he's killed, reload and try again. Never took more than a handful of tries. Edit: this was with correct answers when hiring him though, so her chances are going to be lower.

I'd recomend forgetting about the dark aeons for now and do a more realistic goal of beating the monster arena, you'll need the drops here to help😮level for the aeons... Though valefor ifrit & ixion should be within reach, valefor isn't a superboss, just a tough boss. Then If you really are seirous about doing all the dark aeons and the superbosses you need to grind insane ammounts of AP, there's a trick to it using a weapon skill you can customise to a weapon (overdrive to AP) and I'd recommend looking this up if it's not in the guide doing this or you'll be grinding for months. Theresa also a way to farm 4 blank slot weapons, look this up too as if you lock yourself out of it you'll have a hard time with some of superboss as making your own special weapons for them can be better than celestial weapons.

Iirc the only dark aeon blocking a destruction sphere is the easiest one (valefor) While I'm sad to see Penance won't be fought, but I get it. Not everyone wants to spend hours ap tricking enemies in the arena and then even more hours farming items to craft the best gear just to see the true endgame (I don't feel bad for spoiling it now since it was shown in the video on the guide)

Obligatory explanation of the story just in case you missed it: There is no time travel. Bevelle machina vs Zanarkand summoners. Bevelle won. Tidus's "Dream Zanarkand" and all of its citizens including Tidus is really a giant collective summon of all the people in the wall you saw on Gagazet that is just there to preserve Zanarkand in some way. Sin is pretty much a summon to keep people away from discovering this Dream Zanarkand. The real location is somewhere near Baaj. Jecht just left that area. The whole Tidus is a dream thing is more easily understood by calling him an aeon lol Crests/Sigils tip I know you're ahead of this, but your guide's Mars is Saturn in your version of the game. Guide's Jupiter is Mercury. Guide's Venus is Mars. Guide's Saturn is Jupiter. Guide's Mercury is Venus. Sun and Moon are the same. You CAN power up with just the crests! It gives aeons Break Damage Limit. Valefor is Yuna's, Ifrit is Wakka, Ixion is Kimahri, Shiva is Lulu. Yojimbo is Auron. Blitzball tip - A lot of people use "reset data" to reset prizes til they get one they like. Wakka's sigil requires getting all of his overdrives as prizes first. You do have a slight alternative to reset data, though. Remember that once you see what prize you'll be playing for, it locks in. What you can do is exit after the last match of a League/Tournament. Save outside. Go back to blitz. Don't see your prize? Reload your save. This method takes a few more games, but works if you don't want to reset data. Lightning Dodging tip- No Encounters on. Then KZbin. Lol there is a spot where you can go to a crater that always strikes. Run to the tower next to it, run back in +strike+. Run to the tower. Run back in +strike+. It will help you get in a rhythm.

I'm watching halfway through and don't know if you have noticed but the names of the crest are mixed up in the International version of the game. They changed the names for some reason.

The love between Tidus and Yuna was definitely romantic, as well as what you mentioned. If it wasn't romantic, they wouldn't have had a makeout session in Macalania. Also, in her "goodbye" sphere that we pick up right before Zanarkand when she says something like "so this is what it feel likes. It's more wonderful than I thought, but it hurts sometimes", she's talking about being in love with him but hurts because she knows she's going to die at the end of her pilgrimage and they'll never be able to be together.
@CaptainFalchion2 ай бұрын
The reason Tidus didn't say I love you back is apparently because the japanese version originally had Yuna say "thank you" instead of I love you. But even in that moment it didn't feel wrong for Tidus not to say it back, but it wasn't because he wasn't capable. He is a dream but he still was his own person. And yes they clearly were in love for sure, its so tragic

The Omaga ruins, this place is amazing to farm items and get much stronger!! DO NOT FLEE! Because you are gunna find and pickup alot of 4 slot Armour and spheres for the grid that allow you to obtain abilities for all characters across the grid, get as many, luck spheres, fortune spheres, mega pheonix and chocobo feathers as u can to create amazing Armour to take on dark Aeons. For Dark aeons: you need only Tidus Rikku and Wakka. Get their strength, agility and speed to max. Wakka, 60 Luck stat Weapon: World Champion Overdrive: Attack REELS Armour: Auto pheonix, auto Haste, auto protect. And Ribbon (only 1 person needs ribbon) Tidus: Luck 60 Weapon: Catlbrog Overdrive: Blitz ace Armour. Same as Wakka. Stone proof or Ribbon Rikku for her Overdrive. Luck stat 60 Weapon: God hand. Armour, same as wakka and tidus. Stone proof or ribbon. THESE are the best ways to do it.

If you have the crests for the celestial weapons you just need to upgrade the weapons once with them and they break the damage cap for the aeons you possess. Meaning you can get the to do over drives for 99,999 if you level up Yuna a lot. Finding an efficient and not time consuming way to get triple overdrive and overdrive >ap on the weapons can help you get 99 sphere levels quick but that will take time in itself
@mak99hi2 ай бұрын
Fun fact, the damage break, was the first final fantasy to allow damage above 9999
@wc42012 ай бұрын
Tidus didn’t say anything back because the game is dubbed from the original Japanese… I believe in the original Yuna says Thank You and not I Love You. Auron, Lulu and Rikku have the easiest super weapons. You will also need armor equipped with Ribbon to defeat the dark aeons… imo the best build is auto Phoenix, auto haste, auto protect and ribbon. You can farm Ribbon armor while fighting dark Yojimbo as you fight him 4 times then save/exit and re enter than fight him again… you are looking for dark matter and Ribbon armor. It’s a grind but if you want to fight the dark aeons and penance it’s a must.

So in terms of the monster arena. I noticed through your play through, I am not sure if you'd noticed there was two pages of monsters for some areas. Also to receive the maximum rewards, you need to capture 10 of every monster per area. Also as someone else did state before, the rewards are given separately each time you speak with the man. So if he has multiple rewards you have to talk, end convo and talk again...its very annoying lol. I actually just did all this a couple months ago

You're missing the Destruction Spheres for Besaid and Zanakand
@Mik_S2 ай бұрын
I'm surprised the guide told you the passwords but not how to get them. You already found 2 clues, one on Besaid saying Kilika and Bikinel together and the other on Kilika that appears gibberish even when translated. There is another in the desert that also seems gibberish bit if you took 1 letter at a time from each one it would combine to say "the password is VICTORIOUS". There was one that mentions the thorn next to the gouge in the Calm lands (in the highroad I think) and you have to follow the directions to the password. The reason why you could not find the Jupiter crest is that they are assigned to different characters in different versions of the game, and I think it also depends on the region of version. As the guide is for the HD remaster this will be the reason and you already got the crest in that location. I think it is possible to get those missed primers from Home somewhere in the desert, but you might have to beat Dark Ifrit first. Another option is to find your save before the destruction of Home then get them and save to a new slot. Then you can reload your main save and use a compilation sphere to import those primers. The monster guy only gives you 1 reward each time you talk to him, so if you had completed several areas you have to talk to him again to him to get the next reward.
