So, I looked into this not knowing 100% what dry curacao was, but when you said that it was heavy I knew exactly what you were talking about. I did this with cointreau and gran marnier and I very much preferred the cointreau because the gran marnier just made it feel syrupy.

Yea Cointreau is def best in a Sidecar… but GM or curaçao works great in a mai tai or a margarita

@@RobsHomeBar I just tried something fantastic. I made a sidecar, but for shits and giggles instead of cogniac I used Bulleit 95 rye whiskey. Wound up eyeballing it and doing it as a stirred drink in a rocks glass. the ratios I would up with were around 1:1:2 lemon juice, cointreau, and rye. Added a couple drops of orange blossom water at end. It wound up being really great. I don't know if I just bought really cheap cogniac, but the rye wound up being smoother with a lot of spice and bite on the finish. Might be worth trying.

I like the tartness as well 👍Dry Curacao is crazy hard to find in Alberta for some reason. The most expensive came last.😎I like the milk curd trick 👍

I use Cointreau but also add 1oz of pineapple juice to mine to even out the tart. Delish!

Absolutely! That’s the beauty of clarifying drinks in batches.. you can store it in the fridge for a quick n easy drink! …not sure exactly how long it lasts but long enough!

Have you tried making it an Italian Sidecar by adding Nocino? The sweet spiced walnut flavor is delicious with the dry orange Cointreau.

@@RobsHomeBar Nocino is a sweet, dark, spiced nutty favor made from green walnuts and baking spices. I get mine from Watershed Distillery out of Columbus OH. There are lots of make at home recipes out there too. Flavor works great with bourbon and rye cocktails too.

Does that McGuinnes ever win anything? seems like it would be gross. I'd probably go with cointreau for this. BTW Looks like Your description still mentions this as a mai tai vid.

I’ll check that out thanks! I rushed the release :P The McGuiness is not terrible, it’s your standard cheap triple sec.. artificial taste and high sugar content. I keep it for guests that won’t appreciate Grand Marnier 🤪
