Good thing it wasn't 4th Down. Illegal Kicking also carries a loss-of-down with it, IF it had been 4th Down the defense could have taken the penalty. The result would have been a markoff half the distance to the goal, and a loss of down, turning the ball over at that spot.

in college football there was a penalty once on BYU when they were at the 5 yd line and the QB turned around and walked back like he was confused and they snapped the ball to the FB who ran for a TD and the officials called a penalty on the Offence for attempting to deceive the defense. Now on that play at 4:35, shouldn't they have accepted the penalty, it would've given the jets the ball on the 1 with a fresh set of downs wouldn't it.

Did they even get the chance? Ref said "penalty won't be enforced" instead of it being declined.
@cassieharris5112
@cassieharris5112 27 күн бұрын
No, Tampa Bay had the ball. If anything, it would have been a five yard penalty on the offense and replay the down. So it would have been 3rd and 10 from around the 3. It is likely not enforced, by rule, because the result of the play was a safety. And it's not probably enforced on the ensuing free kick because the Jets never had possession. I'm not a rule expert, but that's how I interpreted the situation.

Didn't watch it all, but I bet the "leaping" penalty against the Dolphins on a MNF game wasn't called! And cost them the game after a blocked field goal against Indy (?) on a field goal try. First time any of us knew you weren't allowed to actually jump up and raise your arm to block a field goal try. Unreal!

3:38 how come this is a ruled a safety and not a turnover? I get it went out the back of the end zone, but that was the intention of the offensive player anyway, so the penalty had no effect. I get thats how it's ruled, just seems like a flaw in the rulings, intentionally committing a penalty to gain an advantage.

i really despised how the broncos over-the-head snap for a safety got blamed on the center Ramirez. Manning even berated Ramirez and so did the announcers who stated Ramirez made "a poor decision" as if it were his fault. Manning was flagged for illegal motion and wasn't where he was supposed to be. Ramirez is a fantastic football player and it wasn't fair that he was blamed for the result of Manning's illegal motion penalty. Manny WE STILL LOVE YOU! RAMIREZ FOR PRESIDENT!
