That means we can give them the benefit of the doubt that they were mocking the dems in this scene (they've done it before, they'll do it again). Secondly, I cited episodes from the golden era of the show, where the consensus is that the writing is vastly different than the writing of today, again proving that they would never make this kind of joke today. Crime spiked over the pandemic, in most countries it did the same. Now it's back to its trend of decline which it has been on for the past 3 decades in the US. However the US does have one of the worst criminal justice systems for recidivism in the developed world, mostly because you have a conservative perception of justice punishing the offender being the priority rather than actually decreasing crime, that and comical levels of wealth inequality in the US are the reasons why jails in countries like Finland produce prisoners 30-50% less likely to re-offend. Obama did horrible things when he was president but he never ever talked about it, he was smart in the way he presented his speech to the american people. Joe biden on the other hand is crazy he will bragg about every stupid little thing he does and that's why you can't believe a president like him exists, but if he just kept his mouth shout you wouldn't even notice him.

The vast majority of those incarcerated have been for being a person of colour, and only 2% of those have had a trial. Yes, they were technically arrested for possession, but controlling for population and percent of said population who possess, people of colour are disproportionately targeted, so the reason in practice is most certainly not the possession

They commit more because they have to in order to survive. Crime in the local area drives away local jobs, and without a college degree they can't afford a job that'd pay enough to allow them to afford a car. Because they don't make much money the local school ends up poorly funded and combined with the chaos of its students' home lives, most students drop out, and those who do graduate certainly can't afford college
