I travelled with the Pete Cortes “last of the circus sideshows” in the 60s when I was 17. I performed 3 characters, I got into the box and avoided the blades as they were placed in...* was Electricia, the electrical woman, and the snake charmer...and would occasionally”introduce Ronny and Annie, the Siamese twins we kept in a big jar of formaldehyde. I left them to Winter in Petersburg Florida, they wanted me to stay on...but I had too many other things I wanted to do. The life of a Carny was never dull or boring, and after the paying customers were gone, the midway was ours, it’s own tight community. I’m glad I did it, and not sorry I moved on either. Thanks for bringing back the memories of a classic 10 in 1 before the endarrived.🖤🇨🇦

I am a former carnie who worked for a show based in Gibtown. Unfortunately the show is no longer in business and I'm retired but I have fond memories of the city. When I left the museum was still being built. Thank you for going and making it.

Father Mac was the only priest in that area that would even speak to the carny people. Most other "men of God" said they were abominations. He would preform most of the marriages and he even blessed the trains when they left for their season. He was a wonderful man.

The allure of the ride going through the tent with murals of Ireland is for all of those Irish immigrants that fled due to the famine. They loved attractions featuring pictures of their home, because they missed it dearly and knew they would never see it again. I saw it on the show "Hell on Wheels". It seemed historically factual enough, so I take it as fact. No one is alive to confirm if it so. Short of doing indepth research and since I am of German ancestry, that is as far as my information into that goes.

I remember years ago at the county fair they had a tent set up that animal oddities and the Star was this huge horse and I do mean huge. Charged you $2 to go in to look at the live animals and while in the tent the horse farted and cleared the entire tent out. And that same year they had a trailer that had dead whales and sharks in it and those trailers smelled soooooooooo bad it was aweful.

Cool! As mesmerised as I am by the actual artefacts on display, I'm also mesmerised by all the hand-lettered signs, as I sometimes miss that style of graphic design despite never having any actual nostalgia for that! (but I've seen them in movies that take place in the past) (9:21) I never knew fiddlesticks were real!! (20:32) I bet there's a sign off-camera asking visitors to not actually use it as a bin because it's a display piece.
