A beautiful Sunday morning, I'm alive, and I have no complaints. I hope everyone else is having the same kind of day, God is good. Loving the cemetery, and looking forward to part 2. Good to see the two Roberts together on a new cemetery venture, just don't seem right with one missing. Here's wishing you both good luck in the future.

There's something about old cemeteries that just draws me in. I got a little choked up at some of the epitaphs this time, though. Still so poignant despite all the years. The Other Robert doesn't seem as grouchy in this video! Maybe he finally got his steak sandwich? Love you guys!

I am really enjoying this series. Thank you so much for taking us along! Here in Ohio it's pretty cold and dreary. You are making us feel better!

I swear that is a Live Oak. If you look up "Live Oak trees" you will see some photos of trees that are named. Angel Oak lives in South Carolina, I think. Many are several hundred to more than a thousand years old. Seven Sisters oak lives in Louisianna and is VERY old! Thank you for sharing. I miss the south - the vistas here on the Pacific Coast are nice, but nothing beats The South for lovely scenery.

God bless 💖 you two. You all are so caring ❤. Asking, the rock tombs, are they maybe settlers? I'm guessing because maybe there was nothing else around to have headstones. Theses are very haunting to me because Theses poor people will never have there names or their history mentioned again. I'm going to be cremated so it will be that way for me too. It's funny, not ha ha funny but, I don't care. My family may more then me. So maybe that's what it's really more about,, is family. Good job guys. Thank you so much 💓.

THAT is a very old tree. Impressive.
@alanatolstad48244 жыл бұрын
That tree intrigues me...was it a volunteer seedling? Surely no one would have deliberately planted it there, yet, it grew up incorporating the fence. How long would it have grown in that spot to accomplish that...?
@cynthiastanley354 жыл бұрын
The tree is an oak. It only takes one acorn to give life to a new oak tree. From my guess due to the approximate size of the trunk is probably about 85+ years.
@alanatolstad48244 жыл бұрын
@@cynthiastanley35 Thanks for the info. I have lots of seedling Monterey Pines, because the crows find the nuts inside the pine cones, and new seedlings pop up occasionally in my yard!

@@alanatolstad4824 Your welcome. Exactly just like the pines. I can't tell you how many seedlings that I have dug out of the ground so that I didn't have trees growing up against my house or in undesirable places in my yard.

Whenever I see trees growing over old graves, I can't help but think of Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island. It is believed that an apple tree's root consumed his body and took on his body's shape. The root is currently on display at Brown University in the John Brown House.

I wonder if the Hamby marker at 08:00 is placed diagonally to the plot because it's marking the husband's grave on one side and the wife's on the other; an effort to save money using one menorial.

You all ever poked around on the old Central Of Georgia location in Macon, Ga? There was an entire industrial and residential complex "on the other side of the tracks" before it was torn down in the name of Urban renewal, then nothing ever put there... poked around there on the old Taylor Iron Works location for Jonathan W, and thought this is something more up you all's alley!

I have a thought around rubbings and/or brushing the invasive material off an old gravestone...That possibly it should be done ONLY if the resulting information will be posted for a historical record so that the information isn't lost. Of course not for "fun" though, that information dismissed when the "trip" is over because the delicate stone can be damaged further....If the information on the stone will be lost in short time, sometimes a rubbing or cleaning if documented for posterity could be okay? But amateur folks looking for something to do should definitely be discouraged. What you post is definitely preserving history. When the grave has ultimately "melted" due to elements, we have your videos preserving what they said.
