In this Adventures Into History video, I am joined by Joy as we explore our friend Hugh Oliver's impressive car collection. But there's one catch: all of these cars are in an abandoned state. One of the most fascinating finds is a car bought in 1972 and parked in 1976 with only 189 miles on it. We delve into automotive history as we look at cars from the 1920s to the 1980s, uncovering the stories behind these forgotten treasures.
Join us as we explore abandoned Cadillacs, Fords, and Chevrolets, taking a nostalgic trip through time. And before you ask, none of these cars are for sale, and Hugh will not sell them. Enjoy this unique journey through a remarkable collection of classic cars.

Honestly? All of them, because they all had different interesting designs and features. Well...maybe not the white Camaro. It would been cool of we could see their faces but being parked so close to the wall thats not possible. 3:25 Chevy for example looks cool in the back. The white Bel Air looks awesome. All the cars from the late 40s and 50's are amazing. The 19:55 car has cool external look but the gaiges panel looks very cool...

I am sadly reminded of how toxic the car collector community can be. Rather than educate if we got something wrong, you ridicule, insult. This is what drives the younger generation away from a great hobby, and learning from an older generation. “You youngsters don’t know anything” and other comments, rather than passing on knowledge. Knowledge is a form of preservation, whether it be of classic cars or the education on history, cemeteries, and old houses we generally provide. I am no car expert by any means, and most of these cars I had no idea what were other than the make and model. My expertise only lies in my own old cars, and asides from a ‘57 Chevy, of the dozen plus ‘50’s to ‘70’s cars I’ve owned, I’ve never owned any of these.

"Knowledge is a form of preservation." I love that! Seeing you express it here is a great reminder about the pitfalls of judgement and the way in which it can close us off to offering the knowledge we have or prevent us from asking questions out of fear of embarassment or appearing vulnerable. You could have made me feel really, really dumb when I thought the motor was in the back of that Chevy. But you didn't and you were kind about it. Pretty certain I wouldn't have gotten the same treatment from quite a lot of the commenters here, which is sad to think about. Appreciate your kindness, Robert!

Robert, as an old car guy I thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Joy! The first two Chevrolets were a 1962 and 1972 Impalas. The blue Ford coupe is a 1956 year and had optional power windows and seat which was not very common on Fords. What a neat collection of cars!

Such a shame seeing all those cars left to rot.Seems there’s so many car collectors who have a collection that becomes to much to manage.Theres nothing wrong selling them to a willing buyer who can put it back on the road.Leaving them dormant like this is the worst thing for them.

My grandparents ordered the same '72 (gold w/white vinyl top) Coupe De Ville and went back to Detroit, where they picked it up as it came off the assembly line and drove it back to Seattle. During the 1970s, some car manufacturers offered programs where buyers could witness their vehicles being assembled and take delivery directly from the factory. The car has a 472 engine.

That '57 Chevy was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!! It is so straight! The paint is pristine! Interior gorgeous! All these comments about these cars just rotting...I think they're being taken care of alot better than most. They're under cover, some enclosed. Yes, the gaskets and rubber seals deteriorate, but they're not sitting out in the weather. Yeah, they're just sitting, but they belong to this guy and he can do whatever he wants to with them! Anyway, loved the videos and being able to see whole cars, not just twisted rusted heaps in a dump somewhere!

What a walk down memory lane to my younger years. I bought a 1956 Ford Fairlane for $100 in the early 1970's. What a boat that was. The ride was smooth sailing and it had pretty cool wing windows. Frame was solid steel. No plastic of today. Couldn't hurt me in that. My uncle also sold me a 39 Plymouth Coupe for $5.00 in the early 70's also. Didn't last long and I had to drive it using the emergency brake to stop. I used to drive down a curvy steep hill to get home and thinking back on it scares me today. But it was the most comfortable car I ever rode in. Velvet seats and it just sailed over rough road. These were my more daring years. If I only knew then what I know now! Thanks for this fun walk through the past!

As somebody from OUTSIDE AMERICA (London), I notice, that as usually is the case, the CHROME is still good! (Compare with lesser chrome on Volkswagen Beetles for example). Chrome was held in high regard on such ambitious vehicles, and the chrome was done to the best possible standard, not down to a price! So if someone is looking for ancient rarities today - the chrome isn't something they are likely to have a problem with!

Incidentally, when you admired that desirable FAIRLANE, you said "that's when Georgia had inspections" What about the U.S.A. as a whole? Is it up to each state? That kind of nonsense has also taken place in the U.K. and mainland Europe. There used to be ANNUAL inspections - as there SHOULD be.

Mercy I had to find a towel to finish watching the video. I was drooling so bad. I want the '62 Impala, the Vettes and the pickup. It is a shame to see these cars sit. But they are protected.

These are the representation of the best vehicles designed. I have always loved the late sixties through the late seventies cars. My last car was a 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car.
