Great job on the install. You can remove the mufflers from a 300Tdi. Helps a lot to remove the exhaust gases quickly. I've had no mufflers on my tuned 300Tdi for a long time.

That space is also good for a storage box which a lot of companies make. Great for gas bottles or wet gear.

What an awesome use of dead space 👌

The water tank install is a pain. The locating bolt does require you to put a huge amount of aft force on the stone guard so there is adequate thread reaching through the guard for the nut, or, you can get a longer bolt. Much better idea. In terms of the tap: I think I’m going to rip mine off every time I do some significant 4 wheeling. That was 4 years ago now. I’ve done a full loop around Australia in 2019, most of it off road, including The Old Tele Track in Cape York, The Savanna Way, Lorella Springs, Seven Emu Station, Coburg Peninsula, Kalumburu, Dirk Hartog Island and the list goes on. That bloody tap is still there. I live near the Blue Mountains and regularly head up to Pipe Line, Moon Rock, The Spanish Steps and so on. Tap still there 😁

Cheers Brett! Agree the tap looks bad but would rarely be a problem. I have moved mine up anyway since.

FR really need to redesign that set up.

Love the front runner gear. They make good stuff!

On some of the old Aus Army Landrovers they made Storage/Toolboxes there and had a Door on the Outside, was that plate Square ? it looks like it should of went back more.
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is. If attempting again, i would cut the plate to allow another 30mm back. This would be to allow for the large tyres.

Great video Mark. It looks like a good bit of kit - awesome use of totally dead space - but it appears that while the design is solid, the final fit / finnish seems to totally suck.
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Its not quite perfect.

Hmm I’m very late to the party on this video, and unsure what size tires you’re running in this vid. I have 255/85’s on my puma, and I’m very hesitant to install if the rub is going to be excessive. Thoughts? 2 years on, are you happy with it?
@SIDETRACKED3 ай бұрын
2 years on and it's only minimal rub, tyre is rubbing factory LR panel also, so a longer bump stop should be used but its only very minimal. The water tank is good, but not perfect. Great use of the space, I just regret the hole drilled inside as it limits my set up options on that panel.
@sgraham07913 ай бұрын
Thanks mate. I appreciate the comment. I wouldve installed it 2 years ago too but the filler hole put me off. I guess it’s a custom made solution to have something there without a filler hole inside. Just would need a breather up nice and high uh.

Not wanting to speak out of turn... you should have a car stand. Don't rely on your Jack alone buddy. Other wise gr8 fit.
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Davi, good pick up. I at least had the tyre under the chassis rail should something go wrong.

With the exhaust right there you should have hot water after a long day or driving

I hope so!!

Oh. And no dust ingress, even without a flange. Comes in just about everywhere else though
@kabaottoemulsion18692 жыл бұрын
Ummmm, it looks quite job! It is never straight forward with Defender or doing something with any other cars! Why not just use silicon or gum gum to seal top filler gap? So rear fender support rod is not needed? I could not quite make up my mind because of the cost!
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
You could seal it up yes! I have found the perfect flange fitting to go with it now. Will update in a coming video.

Did the same install about 2 months ago on my 2014 Puma….and had exactly the same experience. Whoever wrote the instructions should be shot! Same issue with water inlet. I also managed to cross thread the cheap nasty hose bung at the tap end which is easy to do. Considering the price of the tank these should be brass fittings. Can you do an update with pump install to give us some advice?
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Will certainly do an update, but will likely be included in a random video or on a trip.

That’s going to rub with 35s. That templates awful I’d want the tank as far back as possible and the filler tube is very poor quality a real pity when front runner gear is so highly regarded
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Can confirm, does rub.
@carltonr34172 жыл бұрын
That kit looks a bit piss poor. I’d be disappointed (as you seem to be) with the half-arsed attempt of giving the customer a complete kit. It’s like they don’t even care if it works, doesn’t work or kinda works.
@adventures_with_simo2 жыл бұрын
Considering the cost of front runner gear, this kit looks terrible.
@SIDETRACKED2 жыл бұрын
Still not a bad kit, just has limitations when pairing with some other aftermarket changes..
@adventures_with_simo2 жыл бұрын
@@SIDETRACKED could be the case, but not sealing the water inlet as part of the kit is poor. If you do custom work you expect hiccups, but when its a “kit” you expect it to just work.
@darrenc40962 жыл бұрын
For the cost that’s absolute crap. These guys need to vastly improve their design and instructions. For you to have to supplement parts yourself is piss poor.
