Man this video is absolutely stunning. I never realized just how much these planes move around and side to side during the takeoff roll!

Amazing footage, especially the views of 22R from Rockaway Blvd. I know that JFK has to coordinate runways with LGA and EWR, but this is crazy! They should be using 13R since the winds are howling from the east.
@alexon792229 күн бұрын
on this day the wind was 260° although sometimes it is really unclear when the wind blows in one direction and they take off in another I don't think that the takeoff routes somehow intersect with Newark it is much further away than LaGuardia and the takeoff routes there are mainly in two directions
@wotan1095029 күн бұрын
@ Oh, it didn’t look like 260, but I’m sure you’re right. Yes, the JFK/LGA/EWR initial routings all intersect, but they are each assigned different flight level ranges. I believe they all have to use either the 4s, 22s, 13s, and 31s at the same time. Newark has the short crosswind runway that’s rarely used, although I once came in on 29 on a 747! I posted it to YT. The winds have been pretty strong in the last few days. Very nice video!

You can tell JFK was in-between runway's that day. They typically like to be able to land on 2 runways in an arrival priority config and depart 2 in a departure priority config. Between October and April when the seasonal W/NW winds come back, you sometimes have 2-3 days straight of howling winds usually after a large front or winter storm passes thru the area. It's remarkable how 22L/4R is the last asphalt runway and not all that long ago it was the only 200ft wide runway at the airport. The Port Authority wants to have 22L/4R converted to concrete by the end of the decade. It's a lot more expensive but much more durable to the salt and wear/tear of the extreme seasonal variations in NYC. You should check out Planview Park at LGA and the Concourse C parking garage at EWR if you ever wanna do some filming out there. Excellent photography, subscribed!

I would say that this is the busiest airport in the USA. It's like every five minutes a plane takes off. I just love watching it.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is the busiest airport in the U.S. JFK is not even in the top five busiest airports in America.

We waited for 55:50 A380-800 😎😎 but 22L is their favorite for landings 😭 it's extremely hard to capture landings on 22L

Years ago there was sandy area off Rockaway parkway that was perfect to watch 22L landings. Last time I was there was circa 1996.

i thought rockaway blvd and the sidewalk is off limits to stop(even on foot) to take videos? cops do patrol and still enforce regulations there since 9/11. i never bothered to go there but if restrictions have simmered down then i think its time to go back!!

I've been there for a long time and I've never encountered any kind of ban on being there, this is the first time I've heard about it

@alexon7922 its been that way since 9/11. youve just been lucky cops dont harass you for one reason or another.
@alexon792216 күн бұрын
So why should the cops be after me? And again, I don't see the connection between 9/11 and the fact that I'm filming airplanes, by the way, I'm not the only one who films airplanes, I'll tell you more, there's a TWA hotel in JFK, and on its top floor there's an open area with a pool and a bar, and you can film airplanes there without any problems.
@samsungh313716 күн бұрын
@@alexon7922 i will quote what a cop at newark airport told me :" you cant be filming airplanes. the hijackers filmed the airport and airplanes before 9/11".

@@samsungh3137 Well, Newark is in New Jersey, not New York, and look on KZbin, there's a guy who broadcasts every day from LaGuardia and sometimes from Kennedy, and to know for sure whether it's possible or not, you just need to look on the Internet to see if there's some kind of law that officially prohibits doing this and what specific states or airports it applies to. Believe me, every time I film, airport services see me and I think that you can also see me from the tower without any problems through binoculars and I think that if you can't film, they'll definitely report it to the police. What do you think is logical?
