Its great to see non-english speakers handling ATC communication at KBOS like pros. I'm a french-canadian wish great interests in becoming a pilot, but ATC comms is what frightens me the most, because the speed at wich ATCs talk is so fast I don't understand much (even though I properly understand english). But watching this video gives me confidence! Thank you for this high-quality video!
@PapaPadde18 күн бұрын
Thank you, you are most welcome! As communication procedures and wordings are standardized, it is much easier to understand what ATC is transmitting. Although, I have to admit that a certain routine helps a lot and when I flew to the US for the first time many years ago, f.e., it was a it of a challenge.😉 But no worries, you‘ll get used to it!

It's amazing how much one learns from MSFS 2020 and now 2024. I'm no pilot but I'm very familiar with the instruments and flight deck activities taking place in this video almost to the point of predicting the actions of the FO and the CPT. Just to be sure, was the FO the pilot flying and the CPT the pilot monitoring? I know it's just a sim, and again, I would never be able to fly these aircraft without the years of proper training and experience, but it makes one appreciate the hard work you do. Also makes one appreciate the value a flight crew of two brings for managing these very complex aircraft.

Wow amazing flow, looks 99% similar to the A320 one I’m familiar with from the outside, what’s the reason for the 10s pause between the start sequence of ENG 1&2 or 3&4? Is it part of the SOP or a personal style? On other Airbus 4-engines for example A380 there’s no need to wait, there’s enough pressure to start both of them at the same time.
@PapaPaddeАй бұрын
The start sequence of the engines is laid down in our SOPs and the pause between the start of ENG 1 and 2 - as well as the other two - is due to the requirement to let N3 rpm rise to at least 10% before starting the second engine. Also, there is a pause between left side (1&2) and right side (3&4) - we have to wait until the start sequence for the left-hand engines is finished before advancing to the other side. The reason for this is that Airbus wants pilot's to concentrate on the sequence of one side only in case there is a malfunction and we have to deal with a procedure to fix it.

This is an amazing POV video!! Definitely subbed to this channel, and question about the A340-600, how long would you say the A340-600 is compared to the 777-300er?? Ik they’re both incredibly long planes but I guess a good question is which one is bigger?
@PapaPaddeАй бұрын
The B777-300ER is an amazing aircraft as well and indeed quite large. Length-wise it does fall a bit behind the A340-600 - 73,90m for the 777 and 75,27m for the A346, as far as I know... But in most configurations it does hold a bit more passengers than the Airbus.
@Gamerguy-50129 күн бұрын
@@PapaPaddeThe body of the 777-300er is more of a combined jumbo jet style with a wide body module, I think they looked at the 747 and 767 when it came to width and length wise. Height wise, it’s not as tall as a 747, it’s a little close but length wise, it does surpass the 747-400, and the range too is 13,000 something for the 777-300er I think? Or is it over 7,000? I do believe they’re capable of doing 16 or 17 hour flights! A source I came across for the a340-600 stated that it only goes 7,000 miles for range, I’m not entirely sure if it’s true but what’s the mile range on an A340-600

Vielen Dank für das Mitnehmen, vielleicht nur eine kleine Frage warum wurde bei 17:58 vom ARC auf die Rose gewechselt? :)
@PapaPadde29 күн бұрын
Sehr gern! ;-)

Why did you hold the speed at 212 prior you reaching COUSY though?
@PapaPaddeАй бұрын
We had to reach COUSY at or above 5000ft and in order to keep the climb rate higher and forward speed a bit lower, I traded speed for height to make that constraint. 212 kts was the so-called S-speed, the maneuvering speed with flaps 1+F.

@PapaPadde20 күн бұрын
That is normal procedure at BOS airport. ATC uses very close spacing of landing and departing aircraft in order to be able to handle more traffic. The landing aircraft has to pass a certain area after landing to enable the controller to give a safe takeoff clearance for the waiting aircraft. You can hear the controller hesitating a bit before giving the clearance, as well as giving us information about the landing craft. Also, there is an integrated warning system consisting of red lights on the runway which are lit up as long as there is conflicting traffic in a certain area on a crossing runway.
