I met a guy from Arizona he raised Chickens. He said one morning he heard a terrible commotion in the hen house! He just knew a raccoon 🦝 or other predator was in n the coup killing his chickens. Suddenly it got quiet. Upon inspecting the coop a Horned Rattler was half in)out of his coup & dead! The Rooster 🐓 had jumped the Rattler as neck with it's talons holding it head in place then pecked it's Brain out! Rooster 🐓 was Strutting!

Amazing that it's venom is mild compared to others of the rattlesnake species. Love the footage. I Remember seeing one in Brookfield Zoo before demise of Reptile House in late 1980's. Ultimate Chicago tragedy. Actually have a board game inspired by the snake called Sidewinder from 1980's.

Kath Sharmen I do agree since I have seen videos of the Blue Race and the Blue Race looks every bit as fast as 12 miles per hour. The same Black Mamba. But the SideWinders does not apear as fast as eithet the Blue Race or Black Mamba. It could be the Locomotion of the snake since the snake is moving sideway as not as fast. Just giving my opinion

Great video. However is there any proof that they can go anywhere near 18mph? I have scoured every video and article I can find, and the top speed ever actually recorded for a sidewinder seems to be more like 2-3 mph. Big difference, would be good to know how fast these snakes have been recorded, rather than rumoured, as travelling.

I watched this video specifically because Wikipedia said they could travel 18mph and I wanted to see what that looked like. I still have a hard time imagining that snake was going that fast.
